  1. Mmm, my initial thoughts entirely. But I guess unless you're the person able to watch him in detail, then perhaps we do not know enough to make a reasoned judgement. He might well shine significantly here. Trouble is, if he was anywhere near as good as some are making out, why is he not playing in a higher league???
  2. Perfectly good move by the club. And it reflects many other business models in the sense that if you want something 'out of the ordinary' that disrupts the normal business, then that's OK but you pay a little extra for the privelage. In this case, the club are just saying, look you want to leave the decision until the last minute fine, but we need to adjust accordingly and ask for a little more money to assist with this. Can't see the problem myself.
  3. Muppets. True story.
  4. Big Christmas wishes to Big Ron and a prosperous / healthy New Year too.
  5. OK. I agree.
  6. Fantastic entertainment for a start - worth every penny of the £9. Bart is a hero for some great saves. Shame about James and Antonio missing their pens - the latter one was shockingly poor and I am starting to worry that Antonio is not as good as I had thought he was. Special mention to both Hammond and Papa - both those guys worked their nuts off all evening and Papa deserved his goals. Tonight was another fine example of what a winning mentality has set into the length and breadth of this club of ours. Onwards and upwards - Leeds who? PS: I video'd all of the pens (except Adams - cam locked up!) - will try to get 'em up on U-tube for all to see (if they're any good).
  7. No. While there is a slim chance of injury, the team are clearing playing out of their skins and will want the silverware as much as promotion. There's a great chance to win the trophy and only an outside chance of promotion still at this stage. AP has to go with a strong team IMO. If we win at SMS 5-0 then he might play a weakened team in the 2nd leg perhaps?!
  8. Look at it another way - we will never know what magic Rickie would have conjured up to score a great goal IF he had not been robbed of the goal scoring OPPORTUNITY by Broom. Broom even took the ball with BOTH hands - it was so obviously a deliberate attempt to manipulate the ball away from Lambert IMO and the ref had a clear view of the offence too. It was a nailed on red card - AP thought so too - the ref was hopeless most of the game and he either bottled it or just decided to ignore the obvious. Shocking decision!
  9. Hang on - am I dreaming I'm reading this nonsense??!?! I mean, just six months ago we were worried sick there would be no club to support atall...we then get to see that all turned around - get to see our team battle their way out of relegation in L1 with -10 points AND we get to see TWO world-class goals in ONE match on Saturday. And you're underwhelmed?!?! I simply fail to understand how you have the audacity to complain! Un-f-ing-believable! You really need to go and have a word with yourself FF - your posts used to make some sense, but you've surpassed even the most illiterate of posters by writing that drivel. Seriously.
  10. First instinct would be to play Thomas at RB and James in front of him, however I think AP will prefer for us to play our own game. Also, if James is not up to the job against decent opposition, then it puts AP in a good place when asking for the money to replace him in January (although I actually think AP will be sticking with most of the current team as the spirit in the camp is clearly spot on right now and he will not want to disrupt that too much).
  11. Cannot fault any player yesterday - even Antonio who was nullified by a reasonable defence. The first half was rubbish and frustrating due to very poor officials and a Tranmere team who went down for anything to feign injury. It disrupted the entire rhythym of the game in the 1st half. 2nd half was chalk and cheese stuff with Hardings superb goal really killing the Tranmere plan dead. Penalty was nailed on and the player Broom (a sweeper apparently!! lol) should have been red carded. Lamberts free-kick was world-class - not seen the likes of that for a long time and he really is the real-deal. Specially shout for Connolly who always shows a lot of class in his play and ran like a man possessed....what injury? Overall very pleased with our performances and to be creeping up the table - I always knew that it would be a much slower slog over this part of the season. HOWEVER! IF we manage to win a good proportion of our next 6 games we will really start to motor because they are against teams largely above us.
  12. How about going in for a cheeky loan of Bairdsy? I remember reading somewhere that he would love to come back to Saints. I reckon Trots will be off in Jan meaning we'll need a CB pronto. Sol Campbell anyone? lol
  13. Great article and so nice to see the guys getting involved in the community especially with those unfortunate kids. The spirit in the camp looks fantastic and AP is just so flippin' positive, no wonder we've got that winning mentality back. Just another little example of what a fantastic feeling you get being a part of Saints now.
  14. You've pretty much summed up what I was to say on this Wes - what a thoroughly professional and caring group these guys are. We are very, very lucky indeed to have Markus and Nicola as the owners of our club. Long may this continue - I am extremely pleased and proud to be a Saints supporter now - it's been a LONG time coming.
  15. Did anyone else think, "that's a lot of glass to have right next door to the main stadium pitch"?!? Looks very impressive I must say - would be a pleasure to go there and watch the lads train.
  16. I must sit fairly close to you and I agree with everything you've said. In fact, I have bought my seat before now only to then be told it's unallocated seating - now that IS annoying!
  17. Yep - there's a better feeling to life when your footie club is doing well f'sure. However, it's a good idea to have something else going on in your life too that gives you pleasure - whether it be the kids, family, friends, a hobby or just plain looking around at the incredible world we live in with a great deal of wonder.
  18. There are many reasons why we might not do it this season...e.g. lots of games to play before we get a sniff of the play-off places, not all teams above us will roll-over and lose, the higher we climb the harder it gets, we've got a few players close to suspension, we have to play Leeds away before year-end which might affect continuity if we lose. Look - its possible, but there are significant issues to overcome before its a nailed on cert IMO. If we can get to year-end with the team intact and AP gets backing to spend in January it might look more possible to me.
  19. Fab win - still think play-offs might be a little too much for us this season - but hey, ya never know. Main thing is we're looking like a VERY attractive team and AP will almost certainly be able to bring in some top players in January to push on.
  20. Lambo off - Paterson on.
  21. The Saints mahcine go marching on. Great pro job from the Saints.
  22. Here we go - here we go - here we go...
  23. Exactly my thoughts - where the hell did THAT come from??? AND the woman lino is not doing her job atall today.
  24. Sorry - trying to be funny and it was clearly a bit of woosh moment.
  25. And it's all Southampton, All Southampton FC...
