  1. Oh come on Dunc - smile,
  2. Great thread - just read through. Made me laugh, hope I'm still smiling at 5pm. Will look out for the trilby this afternoon Wurzel. Don't say that was untrue as well.
  3. Perhaps Nick at the Ugly can arrange a swap. FF for Chester Perry. He'd be much better over here.
  4. How is David Luker responsible for supporter groups? I've not heard of any groups folding but if they have it will be down to organisation and lack of support from fans not the club. Luker's job is to run the ticket office not the fan base. I've sent several emails to him, some in previous years questioning ticket pricing. His replies have never been anything other than prompt and courteous so I can't understand your problem.
  5. Pards says he wants to win it so he should put out a strong side. It's also an extra match that will help the team to gel. The cheap tickets and early KO should encourage a good turn out of youngsters and maybe some for the first time who will become firm fans. I still remember the look on my kids faces when they visited the Dell for the first evening match and got their forst sight of the lit up pitch. A lot more important than a friendly imho and I hope there is a good turn out.
  6. Probably won a competition for having the best polished boots in the academy.
  7. I agree with Throbber, I've not always agreed with David Luker in the past but he is very approachable and I've no doubt would respond to an email with his reasoning.
  8. We could do it like the Beeb with Have I Got News For You and have a guest manager every week. Seriously I can't believe the fickleness of some of the posters on here (well I can actually). It's going to be a long hard season and with a bit of luck we'll end mid table with a stable team who are ready to make a challenge for promotion next time round. Those who have been going to the games will know that we are improving every week. Last night's game was very enjoyable; it's just a pity that it went Rovers way when they put Williams on. FWIW I think we'll struggle to beat a strong Gillingham side on Saturday but I'm still backing Pardew to get it right for us.
  9. After their second goal our support almost instantly dried up for the rest of the match. All you could hear was the great support from their fans. I can't help thinking that that difference played a very large part in inspiring their team on to win whilst sapping the confidence from our players. How much different would it have been had we out-shouted them? Perhaps as fans we sometimes get the team we deserve. Imho those calling for Pardew's head at this stage may as well be wishing League 2 on us with their lack of support for the team and manager that we actually have right now.
  10. You missed out the 'and multiply' Duncan. Seems to me he's a time waster whose delays have cost us all chances of promotion this season. Good guy? Not in my book.
  11. I briefly saw what happened outside and after the four got out onto the road it wasn't pretty to see one put in a neck-lock and hauled back in and given a punching. On the other hand if they had got out and just left the scene that would have been the end of it. They seemed intent in shouting back at the pub from the apparent safety of the road. The two coppers I saw clearly weren't going to break into a sweat to get there and I don't all together blame them. After that I left; standing there rubbernecking seemed a bit distasteful. I hope all concerned do get what's coming to them. We don't need this sort of thing at football any more imho.
  12. At least you're not missing matches because you're doing any of that nasty part time work thing on Saturdays to earn money then?
  13. And to start a thread criticising him on it when you weren't even at the game.....:smt067:smt067:smt067:smt067:smt067
  14. I hate comments like this. Apart from the fact that Pardew is still putting his squad together, in what way are 9 points a must or less than 7 unacceptable? What are you going to do if Saints don't meet your minimum requirements? Let me guess - nothing (apart from more meaningless whinging on here). In my opinion it's going to get better but not overnight. I bought my Season Ticket expecting a long hard season. If we finish mid season 2009-2010 and then put in a good challenge for promotion next year I will be pleased. Unlike some I'm not going to start throwing my toys out of the pram after 2 or 5 games, I'm quite happy to give Pardew a chance.
  15. Not my business but perhaps you'd be better targeting your questions at whoever you gave the money to than airing the issue on here?
  16. For house I'm reading body here.
  17. Sorry but imho this is just balls. The Saga I saw a few yards in front of me seemed very interested in being here.
  18. I agree - he looked to be enjoying the game to me and worked hard. If he wanted to stay I think he could do well for us this season. The support from mid-field wasn't exactly brilliant today after all but I'm sure that will be sorted out pretty quickly.
  19. I was at the game and this is pretty much the way I saw the game too. Pardew seems to have instilled a degree of confidence in the side. The back 4 were excellent - Harding seems quite a find. Saga and Pato did their best but the link from midfield was not good at all. I look forward to seeing who else Pardew brings in.
  20. You I'm afraid. Why would anyone who wasn't foolish want to do that (if you in fact did)?
  21. This from a lad who has this on his profile: Location: "The only clubs I'll except are bigger than us are Liverpool, Man U, Arsenal If you wrote 'accept' you'd look less foolish. If this forum only dealt in provable fact it wouldn't have many posts on it would it?
  22. I got this reply by email from David Luker today to a query I sent to Andy Oldknow before the prices were released: I rushed down to get a good seat on Friday morning.
  23. Talking of the returning army it's good to see that we'll have at least one Liverpool fan at Ajax. I wonder if Mikey will pay a visit too.
  24. I know that GM is just a harmless little pussy Weston but I must say I'm surprised that you go along with his rather bitter and threatening post. It all seems a little bit unnecessary to me.
  25. Hopefully we've exchanged an autocratic tyrant for a benevolent billionaire and a bright new future. Shouldn't take too long to get used to it. The club still has shares whether or not they're traded publicly.
