Certainly doesn't help. But what also doesn't help is that we are constantly looking to go direct down the line to our wide players, which is easy to play against. I'd like to see us play through the middle, which would then make space for the wide men and give them more chance to pick a decent cross.

I've watched nearly all of the pre-season friendlies and I still couldn't really tell you what our attacking style is supposed to be. There's been no discernible patterns of attacking play for me. IMO we have looked best when we've played up the middle, through the central midfield, but we seem very reluctant to do that.

For me, the glaringly obvious weakness going forward is Fraser in the number 10 role- nowhere near good enough at playing on the half-turn. Archer is also picking up the ball too far from goal to have any impact as he can’t beat a man with pace or skill. We either need to get the ball up the wings and cross it for him or play someone who can do more on their own.

We love a high pass down the channel. My first impressions of the system is that we struggle to build down the middle of the pitch and concentrate our attacks down the wings.

Is that right that it can’t be segregated? Seems very short sighted of the club if so, considering just 2 seasons ago we started to only give away teams 2000 and sold the rest to home fans.
