Not only did he start for England U19s but he scored in all 3 games that they played recently. I don't think enough people on this forum respect how great a talent and prospect Mellis is. He would never be cover for Antonio as they play in different positions, Jacob is more of a centre midfielder and before he went away with England, he was linking up brilliantly with Adam Lallana. Anyone that has seen him play will know how much he has improved since he first began his loan at the club. Had it not been for an unwillingness to change a winning formula, Mellis would be straight back in the side.

By "make it official" I merely meant give it a wider coverage so more Saints fans hear it and eventually sing it. I'm sure if we were to enter this competition, we would win and then there is quite a high chance that it would be played in the stadium on matchday?

I used to play football with Sam Hoskins, he regularly scored 5 or 6 a game and already is the top scorer for the Youth Team this year. Definite star of the future.

As others have said, I'm cautiously optimistic about today. My heart is hoping for a win but my head says that a draw would still be a good result. Will be interesting to see how (if) the formation changes if Connolly starts in place of the injured Lallana. Anyway, my predo is 2-1 to the mighty reds. A goal from MK Dons in the second half leaving every fan on the edge of their seats for the last twenty minutes.

When they changed it to 7 subs, a rule was brought in stating that the squad must contain "at least four players in the matchday squad that have been registered domestically, for a minimum of three seasons, prior to their 21st birthday" Straight from the Football League site.

It wasn't ALWAYS a case of him wandering offside. The majority of time times he was caught were when he had made a springing run from the midfield and our players had not been quick enough to supply him with the balls he deserves. Give him a week or two to catch up with the speed of the English game and for the rest of the team to learn when to pass to him and we will have a quality striker on our hands.

We let in far too many late goals and haven't scored in the opening ten minutes of a match for 69 games in a row now, dating back to February 2008. We are decnte in the middle of the game but we seem to take ages to get into a match and switch off too early (excluding the rare occasions we keep fighting)

I really like Lallana as a player, his perfomances against Brum, Carlisle etc. have all been MOTM-worthy. I don't think he should ever be allowed near a corner flag ever again however. In the Yeovil game, Mills took two quality corners that both provided scoring opportunities, only for Lallana to insist on taking the last corner of the game (which went straight into the keeper's hands)

Their next game isn't til next Saturday, we have a midweek game. We can definately still beat them in the race to one point!

Saints haven't scored in the first ten minutes of a match for 68 games now. We last scored early on in February 2008. I think one problem with our team is how long it takes the players to settle into the match.

I said when he came to the club that we should use him as our match captain!

Is anyone else excited at the prospect of him scoring 30+ goals, firing us up the table, prompting Saints fans all dressing as Papa Smurf in dedication to him on our usual fancy dress game? (morrocan fez's, ginger wigs etc.) No? ... Just me then

Yeah I realised, knowing that Murty is out, I'd put James right back and give his place on the bench back to Rasiak. Gobern can have the Left Mid spot as Fish and Holmes are both still injured.

Just realised my line up has no Lallana or Gillet, I'd swap them in for Gobern and Rasiak.
