Still in a state of shock at the extreme juxtaposition of emotions. Didn't deserve the win today but that doesn't make the typical late goal any less painful to hear.

Anyone else notice that one of the culprit's other contributions to wikipedia was to change Pim Balkestein's current club to Saints? ... nope? Just me then? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pim_Balkestein

Would enjoy watching the demise of Fratton Park through my own eyes so away to Portsmouth please.

Was this the same little boy that was with his Dad and was offered a different seat but chose to stay? My seat is two behind.

Completely agree with this. It p*sses me off when people slag off Mellis. He is a good player and was linking up well with Lallana before he went off with England U-21s (where he scored 3 goals against 3 different teams). He has struggled to get back into the side but he definitely doesn't deserve a place in the worst team of the decade!

True, it was a lot quieter for some periods of the game today but I did love hearing the old "Pompey/nottarF kraP" hate songs in the second half.

An effort to be proud of against arguably the (second?) best in League One. A couple of astute signings in January and we can still make the play-offs.
-
Looking at stats doesn't tell you how many of those decisions were a case of the linesman not keeping up with play or just sheer stupidity as seen in the Tranmere game where one of their defenders passed to him and he was flagged offside.

You clearly aren't a regular at St. Mary's then. Bart's distribution is shocking, he kicks far more than KD straight out of touch or straight to their keeper as we saw yesterday ... and he doesn't have the consistent heigh and placement that Davis has from goal kicks. He also seems to try and throw the ball out too quickly after catching a cross. While this works well 25% of the time, I sometimes feel he needs to slow down a bit. However this is all something that will come with experience and confidence, throwing him straight out of the team the second we see difficult opposition coming our way is not what Bart needs as a player. Let him rise to the challenge of the two big games we have coming up, he has more than earned his chance. Before his injury in the Newcastle cup game (I think?) he was doing brilliantly for Saints in a much higher division, producing some stunning saves.

That's mainly down to the fact that most players in the Premiership are money-hungry ****s with no sign of loyalty. The lower down the leagues you go, the more you see players at clubs that they love, transferring to other clubs purely for the sake of their career as apposed to and Adebayor-esque move just for the money.

Like Bialcodski, Joseph Gills and Neal Troutman? *I'll get my coat ...*

3-1 boring ...

GOAL! Hammond

I remember the first time I saw his "twin" on MoTD, I was devastated ... thought Killer had gone to work for Spurs
-
... and here's the video to support my claim: Comes off the bench with Saints 3-2 down to Chelsea and scores a header amd a beautiful lob to win the game.

As I said the day he was announced as a scholar, Sam Hoskins will be a big player for us, he has a very bright future ahead of him. It wasn't too long ago that his nickname was Lil' Sam and mine was Big Sam haha

From the Facebook group "All Hail Ben Thatcher" ... Following Charlton's unfortunate 2-1 defeat by Everton, Ben Thatcher squared up to gaffer Alan Pardew after he was substituted. "What the **** are you playing at, Pards?" said Sir Thatcher with hatred in his eyes. "You're a prissy **** and you look like a gay." Pardew, sensing a forearm smash to the chops, eventually apologised and offered Ben his last Rolo. ******************************* Poor old Ben, substituted again. Thatcher believes Pards didn't give him enough time to wipe out heap o' **** striker Jonathan Stead. "I could have had him, boss! An elbow to the chops followed by a 45 yard thunderbolt would have won us the game!" We believe you, Ben

Bristol Rovers was agreeably by far his best performance but I do think this was his second best. It's not all about scoring and when our only attack in the match was to get James to cross it in the box, it's hard for a smaller striker to get goals. We didn't vary it up enough for Connolly to really shine bu he still pressured their defence into some wayward passes, always looked eager for the ball and created chances from nothing twice by shooting from outside the box - something Saints players rarely do.
-
Not quite sure what you mean by Ormerod-esque but I thought it was Connolly's best performance so far, constantly closing down the brighton players right to the end and full of speed and stamina. The complete opposite I would expect from someone without a match for 2 years.

Chris Makin was a decent loan signing IMHO, definitely not as bad as Bernard, Davenport and Jackobsson.

Worth sticking a couple of quid on surely?

Sorry to hijack the thread but I don't have the rights to start my own. Sky Sports have just started a vote on Facebook to see who are the best fans out of Southampton, Skates and Bournemouth. Currently, Portsmuff are winning with 63% of the vite and Southampton have only 25% We have won polls as a forum before (the most famous being a team full of Matt Le Tissiers as the greatest ever Premiership team haha) so I'm sure we can do this one too. The poll is just over half way down on here: http://www.facebook.com/SkySports?ref=nf#/SkySports?v=app_60082431253&ref=nf Cheers.

I vote Adam Lallana. NOTE: I'm being sarcastic, I never want Lallana near a corner flag again... EVER.
