  1. Must admit the Wise/Poyet team that nearly did mission impossible at Leeds did cross my mind. Favs that drift from 1/5 to Evens usually have lost a leg on the way down to the start. Bye Gordon - TFFT. Coppell, Pardew or Adams are not exactly going to be picked for their enthusiasm and ambition. We don't want dour, questionable or mad as a box of frogs as managerial attributes, IMHO. As for Gross, can't forget his horror show at Spurs but has an impressive record otherwise but how you assess that against what is required for us I have no idea. WE missed the boat in terms of the ideal candidate - Darren Feguson and my second choice won't leave his club or the area - Nigel Clough. We could get a caretaker in, until Mandaric sacks Boot Boy in October.
  2. Why should the owner subsidise an area when we are unlikely to see more than 2/3s of the capacity used if we even sell half. Just because he has the money he shouldn't simply throw it away just to be popular with the fans. NOT SHREWD, NOT HOW YOU BECOME A BILLIONAIRE. This is good news as it seems increasingly our new owner is not going to be a super wealthy version of Leon Crouch and hopefully he proves that further by not employing Strachan or Keegan. However, employing Tony Adams would be going to the other extreme to prove the point. Interesting days, and so far it is looking very good, just need the managerial appointment to endorse it.
  3. Very true, but we are not talking about the MC's role so calm yourself. Tony Adams would be a disaster as nearly as big as Strachan or Keegan. Nobody worried about Dennis Wise and Gus Poyet slipping under the radar? Success in L1 and with a larger points deduction.
  4. Was Alan Ball enough for you?
  5. YOu're right. Sorry about that, I missed off one vital ingredient from the my profile. TALENTED.
  6. Because I find you amusing and that it's reassurung to know in the 21st Century stereotypes are alive and well. Can you tell us some more about how successful you are in your mid 30's and your hairy chested 1980's Ferrari. Have you considered the scrappage scheme for the latter? £2k - worth having. You 'helped' fly a plane, excellent deep down though, do you wish you had a lady to help drive your slightly sad Ferrari?
  7. Whatever, but probably still about £150 to plug it in and run a print out. 5l of 'premium' oil, bit of air in the tyres, show the inside a vacuum, quick jet wash and hey presto! Mr Bognor your car is ready, sorry to keep you waiting. with the VAT thats £500, we noticed a wiper blade needed changing.
  8. Sorry Baj, didn't think I was being anymore sarcastic than some people's demi-god Clarkson. Have you read his articles in the Sunday Times but we do share the same opinion, generalisation or not, of BMW and Audi Drivers. Look in your mirror the next time you are on the road and if you can't see the number plate of the car behind you it will usually be a BMW or Audi, why? Makes Clarkson angry and me to.
  9. But the reasons for leaving were a bit more varied than you suggest.
  10. TBH Nick it was a name I was hoping we could get in when Burley left and back then he seemed to have an excellent profile. I haven't gone out and checked his record again but from memory didn't he do some great things with Cheltenham and got them promoted to L1 before being head hunted for the Burnley job? Had a tough time at Burnley which undoubtedly tarnsihed his reputation but he was up until then highly regarded and like Ince took a step up to soon. I'm surprised he is not at least coaching somewhere but you may be right and others don't get it either. Just thought readily available will be very eager to prove himself and experienced but may have been out of the game to long judging by your comments. Pity because he should be a good hire for anyone in the lower leagues.
  11. You never know one day they might write a big illustrated book for you. Night Robbie see you in the morning.
  12. Leaders don't give way to hysterical outbursts or leave their troops who have served them well without good reason. Just my opinion Robbie and I'm sorry it troubles you so.
  13. Go and get your Gruffalo Robbie, it's late.
  14. No reason to go though IMO and who said history won't repeat itself. This appointment is critical and we need to recuit someone who is going to be part of the club's rebuilding programme and willing to stick around for however long that takes say 5 years? No one wants to be pleading with the manager to stay everytime the going gets a bit choppy or a sniff of another job comes along.
  15. No your not - it's not you
  16. If we went the Tisdale route as a 'suitable profile' then I would prefer to go with Nigel Clough as another manager who cut his teeth in the conference. L eague 2 last season didn't look that difficult and whilst Tisdale did well it remains to be seen how he copes this year - bit too risky for me I'm afraid. Clough though had a disappointing finish but steered Derby comfortably to safety and was able to manage a loose cannon like Savage so no shrinking violet despite his outward appearance. Can we see Derby letting him go, NO! Drawing up the profile is one thing finding someone that fits it and is available or can be persuaded along with their club is another thing entirely. What about S****horpe's manager? Nigel Atkins? (not sure if I have his name exactly right)
  17. Calm your jets, if you ask politely I always reply but it will always be a considered one than the reponses from a certain kneejerker who is jumping on every thread at the moment acting like some deranged Hyena that has eaten to much fermented fruit. Hopefully, it will be bedtime soon.
  18. Mad because I don't assess someone on just their name or past glories? Both have a proven record of walking away finding it difficult to produce that difficult second album after their first successful period. Not for me thanks, both are a tad to self-important IMO.
  19. Unfortunately, the name I immediately thought of fell by the wayside today as he signed a new contract and it's the same name I was talking about last season. Darren Ferguson. Like Oldknow I think we should establish the criteria for manager and past managers of this club need not apply to fit in with the new era concept. So a manager who fits Ferguson's profile would be good. Young, ambitious, proven success in this League 1 or above (rules out Tisdale) and preferably someone currently employed in the game but not critical if they are well regarded. Depends on the budget but Steve Cotterill had a lot of success in this league but if money is no object then that could actually be a bad thing as we need someone hungry and ambitious.
  20. I don't like it when managers walk away from a club when there appears little need for them to do so. Unless I fully understood those reasons I personally could not recruit that person. Keegan admitted he fell out of love with the game after Man C and didn't watch a game for 3 years allegedly. How do we know Coppell has not got to that stage? Who else walked from a club that at the time was difficult to understand and in the process started that club's decline to league 1 via a whole hosts of disasters?
  21. Your right and that soon tempered Wotte 'Gus Hiddink' joke. Wotte as usual was very professional and dignified and merely questioned why he was given a 12 month contract and then a week later he is sacked. Presumably his contract would have been made in full which is a touch wasteful if that was the case. Strachan 1/5 and they want a clean break from the past so go for a Lowe ex- hire according to the odds. My one worry is we have a super rich Leon Crouch as our new owner. Could be a bumpy ride! Still as far as manager books go I've seen shorter favourties than Strachan fall by the way side so there is hope yet.
  22. Already done so elsewhere, seek and you shall find. The only person to disagree with me when I last looked was Robbie so that should tell you all you need to know if my concerns could be considered genuine. Anyway, this thread is just an exercise of putting the X in the box.
  23. Benji, the problem is, is there one verified fact to blow the smear campaign out of water? I'm no expert but IMO if I was building a team for my first 11 of posters to ensure I knew what the ordinary fans don't normally get to know about until after the fact (if at all), then Guided Missile and Fitzhugh Fella would be the first names on my team sheet. In fact I find their comments over the past few weeks remarkable and interesting and a minor admission from FF that was somewhat surprising that in fact made it all the more worrying.
