  1. Nice one. But in 12 years time plucky youngsters will be able to ask their great great grandparents about that amazing win at SMS that denied us promotion and kept them in the 2nd tier. If they have gained anything today it is confirmation of their new local rivals - until Eastleigh go up. That glorious European victory/draw against Milan seems a long time ago.
  2. Tottenham - massive club.
  3. Just heard a retail expert saying that there is no way Tesco will be building any big store on land already purchased, they seem to be turning to developing residential on a few sites instead. If that is the case then I guess they would need to perform a minor U-turn on planning. No doubt the council will dance like a little puppet when Tesco start tuning up.
  4. My work here is done! Life is now imitating, well, itself. Sort of? I think. I'm confused.
  5. Technically the shirts belong to the club because it was the club that had them off their suppliers and bankrupted them by not paying, so James should be charged with theft. This is clearly more money that belongs to the property developers. Something should be done to stop this villain making money out of pompey. Perhaps the fan shareholders should have a vote on it.
  6. Ralph, you tell me which wall you want me to run through and I'm on it! I'll have him alongside me in a trench any day of the week, even if he can't say Premier. What a great tribute to the man who saved our club, and who we remember at every home game. We have come a long way, we are in good hands. Football is nice again.
  7. Yes, it's worrying when an alleged intelligent footballer manages to lose £20M, good luck to the thick ones! I think he needs to sack his divorce lawyer. His articles were very good and always mentioned the charity that benefited from his fee. That glorious cup team of 08 are going to have a great reunion party in a few years! Did you ever get paid? No, you? Nope. Did you get hate mail? Yeah, and the worst thing was it was so badly written. Happy days... Yeah.
  8. South Coast football. Southampton - 2nd in the Premier League, today unveil a new facility that will set the benchmark for European clubs, and they continue to produce players who grace the Champions' League. Bournemouth - a club record of consecutive wins, top of the Championship, their highest ever placing. Brighton - firmly established in the Championship with a modern ground. Reading - firmly established in the championship with a modern ground. portsmouth - firmly rooted in the 4th tier, and by deferring and reducing wages they have helped push their former England goalkeeper and cup hero into bankruptcy - today they are finishing off painting the fence at their hired training pitch.
  9. by then they should be able to hold it in the new Tesco conference suite, presumably the footings are nearly finished and they'll be trading by Christmas...
  10. He's an odd one. In between some of the bonkers stuff he comes out with some real home truths. I was never a fan of his 'comedy', always regarded him as a bit of a tit, next thing you know he makes perfect sense. So for me he makes some very valid points, but he needs to edit out some of the madness that clouds the issue and his credibility. I'd rather hear him talk on how the media is conning us, rather than hear any politician who just churns out spin approved from above.
  11. In all fairness they tick most of those boxes already so I think I'd be generous enough to give them a full house and the financial benefits for a 10-0 home defeat. Sadly, if it did happen we'd put out a youth team so it would be more like 5-0.
  12. That's what happens when these little clubs give power to locals who have gathered most of their corporate expertise through selling the contents of their loft on an overloaded decorating table in a breezy field on a Sunday morning. I don't see a lot of quality on that board, enthusiasm yes, but you need business acumen to run a business, and you need it in every dept. Let's not forget the former hero and finance expert Lampitt. He was the man with the plan, but he just followed the mistakes of the past and shoved them off on another suicide mission. Despite the spin to the contrary, I'm not sure that much has changed since those hilarious days. And like Lord T, I'm curious to know why the PFA still hold charges if the nasty old players really have been paid. No doubt this will be addressed shortly by the local media, along with the Tesco situation and Connolly's silence.
  13. Great South Run, where people in Saints shirts run the streets of pompey on the same route that their open top bus went after the 2-2 draw at SMS. I've been known to spectate and shout 'red army' at these people.
  14. That sounds like classic Ho on there. Everything fine, deal done, business as usual, nothing to see...
  15. Interesting. Read.
  16. Last weekend is a different planet, it's history. If any clubs learn from Sunderland the lesson is, don't take Saints on at football - Poyet decided to take on our Dagenham and Redbridge style with his pressing game. I now expect buses galore and teams coming for a point. The art will be grinding out the one goal that we need in those tough games, especially after we wasted seven last week on a team when one goal would have done it. Good news is I think Tadic has it in him to create those openings - it's called a Plan B.
  17. TCWTB... Tesco considering whether to build, Tesco changes will trouble bestest or Trust collapses with Tesco buggered? The clean version to tell your kids.
  18. High-flyers? I thought they were the biggestest club in the division? It's not like they are playing Arsenal or Man Utd, it's only little Shrewsbury up next. The ones that just put five past little Bury - the lucky winners from last weekend.
  19. Yes Penny, we know there is an election around the next corner! This is the MP who only steps into the ring when simpletons' votes are there for the harvesting. She was silent throughout the criminality decade and lapped up the glory days that were funded by organised crime, child-maiming and theft from the taxpayer. Penny believes and repeats the deluded insanity that the football club brings £13M into the city for EVERY home game. She also has the aerial agility of a wardrobe in a swimsuit. So her opinion is worthless, her attempts at vote-gathering are cringeworthy. If I want advice on how to source sticky buns or pork pies, or perhaps if I need to empty 7,000 litres of water out of a pool in a hurry, I'll give her a shout. But if I want expert guidance on football finance, I think I'll ask someone with a grasp of the subject.
  20. Gary Glitter to investigate abuse of children, Peter Sutcliffe concerned over working conditions for prostitutes, Oscar Pistorious launches gun safety campaign - pompey to advise on good accounting.
  21. I don't know why their fans are moaning, they've got the equal-cheapest cup of tea in the division. And memories of Thierry Henry saying that they are les bestestement. So I can't help but feel even more deep-rooted jealousy than usual this weekend.
  22. I'd be amazed if he actually managed to make contact with him. He only hit one thing cleanly all afternoon - but boy did he catch that!
  23. No.16, Southampton, at home to......no.38.....portsmouth..... Oh please let that happen!
  24. Hey Gus, have we 'kept up' yet?... Fair play to their travelling supporters, they are owed a massive apology by their manager, and their team who under pressure from a very good side, surrendered with NO fight. I can't recall seeing a team give up like that. Take nothing from our excellent performance, but professionals shouldn't look that badly organised, and like they don't actually care.
  25. A really great achievement for both. Against Newcastle when Pelle mis-shinned that shot to Tadic before rolling in the return pass I must confess I didn't see his potential as a player of the month! But he must have doubled his value in two months. At this point he looks like a great investment, and by pulling on the designer label of Southampton FC he is being recognised on the international stage. Our contribution to international football is bonkers at the moment. Someone upstairs is showing inspired judgement, and you don't get to say that very often so let's enjoy it. Who knows, we might even be able to hold onto the manager and the player for a bit.... Anyway, put away the awards, three points tomorrow is the next target.
