This, though I dont buy the debt routine IMO. 50m last year, 80m this year aswell as associated merchandise and ticket sales. Massive increase in club value since league 1. I very much doubt the level of debt is much TBH
-
We were calling for him to be replaced last year, whilst I think that he certainly has a future as a no.10 for a couple of years I dont think itll be that damaging for us, certainly no more near as damaging as losing Lallana. 4m is low though, Id rather thr upfront costs were higher, 9m is a good fee. Fair play to him, he deserves his chance. Its more what it spells out for us I think rather then actually losing him. Seems the board have zero grasp on what the fans at this club feel

Both sides of the fence potentially It really is a pretty remarkable situation
-
Um We have only lost Poch, noone else
-
Cant argue with that, pretty much what I wantedto hear. Ill go back into my box for the moment and admit that potentially I was wrong. Hopefully next year will be as good as this season
-
You have access to it ?
-
What other interview ?
-
This really, and spending at that level whilst doing everything to keep your best players is ultimately what moves you forward, as VFTT said, spending it well is the issue and realistically most clubs have around a 50% transfer success rate. Im glad they've come out and said something, I was moaning they hadnt yesterday, hopefully its given them the kick up the arse they need, Im not going to stop being fearfull but in truth Im happy to see what happens over the summer
-
Pay your fiver man !!! Besides, Im assuming your talking about commercial revenue ? Which lets face it, is dwarfed when we are talking about 77m in PL fees this year
-
Um Realistically they are bigger now then they have been in the past 10-15 years ?!?
-
Its a shame they've moved to tacky tabloid, they were the poor banned realtalk piece under Cortese's days........
-
Top post my thoughts exactly, I think too many are overlooking the poch saga (soon to be the lallana and shaw saga) as money orientated as opposed to ineptitude from the board so far
-
No.

Cant argue that he quit when KL decided she has got enough for her money and I genuinely feel thats the case. Realistically aswell we were never going to become perennial top four contenders and in reality nor will spurs or everton IMO despite their insistance of that being the next stage. We were though (and arguably still are ATM) not far from reaching those other twos level, with a moderate investment to build on what we have and an attempt to keep together a squad thats proven it can compete until injuries and fatigue takes its toll. As I said I wouldnt mind so much if I believed that the new board were happy to attempt progression in that way, trying to become a club with an outside chance of CL qualification but I think that they either really do t know what they want or are happy with staying where they are. As I said before bud, thats the dangerous part, regardlessof who is in charge, trying to stand still innevitably ends up in regression.

Exactly, its crap, 22m pound in debt and we have just had a season within which we have made 77m in PL+tv right money alone. Hardly bank breaking. Also look at the rise in club value since our L1 days, I hardly believe that KL was that dissapointed and realistically anyone who thinks elsewise is a bit of a fool. NC walked due to his ego being too big to release some of the reigns, nothing more. As per the club being doomed under Cortese ? Nah, we have only ever moved forward under him. Lets see what happens in a year or so.
-
Im not sure anyone was talking about breaking the bank, worked well for Everton and Spurs
-
I apologise I was a bit condescending and generally like you as a poster Emotions are high, nobody knows where they are or what direction the clubs going in. They'll be those going over the top either side of the fence
-
Exactly, and what exactly did that statement contain ? As far as NC's ? As much as it was bold and ultimately far fetched it was an aim, and one that the players, staff and manager got behind enthusiastically. Kept them together, fighting and beyond all else probably a bit more loyal as ultimately if your ambitious you want your boss' to support that. Treading water is dangerous as eventually you tire and go under
-
Calm down poppet you seem to be as mad as those you're berating
-
The point is the board havent said anything really have they ?
-
Im not massively panicking by the way, anyone who thinks we are suddenly going to implode is wrong, we are, despite the boards best efforts to claim otherwise, clearly in a good financial position, have a strong academy and some v v expensive assets to our name the dissapointment however comes knowing that potentially this was our ONLY close chance of going for top four, not necessarily achieving it but attempting it. We have a decent academy, had a good manager and a first team that has shown it was capable, a lack of depth hurt us. Losing the likes of Lallana, Shaw and Poch now will all but remove that slim chance, all down to IMO a lack of commitment to the players, staff and club ambition and thats a shame.

Ive never said he is a moron or personally attacked the board members. Whilst I agree that some are going over the top Id also argue some are getting swept away by empty promises and management jargon. Its not only what we hear from the board but what some of us here from other places (not just the media) We were promised transparacy and not had it in reality, likelyhood is we will lose our better players and just lost our manager, now perhaps it was a money decision but could of quite easily have been seen as the fact that he sees no real alternative. Then the players, barely 6 months ago speaking about ambition and a journey and recently now talking about how the 'hope' the board back us. January, when they came in was the first TW that we did no business in the Liebherr era despite the fact we were screaming out for reinforcements. I might be wrong, I genuinely hope I am and as Ive said before Ill stick my hand up and admit I was wrong in that case but I doubt it. As Ive said before, we were on the cusp of something a bit more IMO but we lacked the ambition to push for it. Sorry if Im ****ed off with that Edit - Im not sure Id want to spend time in the trenches with someone that couldnt see the wood for the trees either but there you go bud

Exactly, actions speak louder then words, a lot of heads in the sand on here tonight though
