£30 million for for Luke Shaw should we take it?
Smirking_Saint replied to modern matron's topic in The Saints
Whilst I agree, its a great offer. What if we do not need that cash and Shaw is happy for another couple of years development at the club ? An offer is only ever as good as your situation, if we dont need to sell IMO we shouldnt. -
Really wish your dad all the best, having had too many of these incidents in my family those minutes until the paramedics get there are the vital ones so hopefully he is completely out of the woods soon. So glad there were people on hand to help as times like these put everything into perspective.

Northam isnt a much longer way round TBF, another 5-10 mins. But yes, its a bit of a ****take, especially now its automated
-
I cant help but sorry for your loss. Have you tried youtube or even contacting the club ? May your dad rest in peace

Not entirely sure who is moaning at it. Were screaming out for the creativity Ramirez provided. Im just saying it opened us up a bit, which was a gamble I suppose but it worked out so im not too bothered. Id personally have taken Lambert off who was probably our worst player out there but there you go. The threads about Vic, who I feel we miss. Not as much as we missed Boruc but definately still miss.

He is an arrogant, egotistical tit that wanted out of saints. I dont like him and never have.

I think it is a lot of money, and the majority of me agrees that we would be mad to turn it down but I think that after reading Dig Digs and Krakens posts they dpeak a lot of sense. If we are able to turn it down why shouldnt we !? Im not saying its a degrading offer as it clearly isnt, its the world record fee for a full back. What Im saying is if that money will help then definately bite their hand off, if not, then just sit back and say no, if Shaw is happy here for the time being and we need not the money then wait. Who knows it could start a bidding war. -
What point did I miss then ? Considering I answered your two points about them pressing ? I merely observed that they found more space in our midfield when Cork went of, which they did. We can argue all day over whether in reality it was them pressing more or cork leaving the field that had more of an effect ? Neither of us can say conclusively either way TBH. Regardless Cork was having a decent game yesterday, admitedly WBA were pretty pedestrian. Were else have I missed the point ?

Yup, you fully deserve to take the moral highground after your clearly not arrogant posts of 'you were clearly not at the game' and 'if you think otherwise your an idiot' -

So I know nothing about the game as he performed the minimum expectation from a lone striker that Id expect from even a sunday league player ? Gotcha -

Is anyone debating the fact that lambert was the only poor player ? Shaw and Clyne offered him little in an attacking sense, J Rod was poor and even Morgan wasnt brilliant. In fact to me it seemed the whole team was shuddering and apart from the quick out of the blocks first 10 minutes or so nobody really shone yesterday. The CBs played well, Lallana had a decent enough game. Christ the fact that people are voting Boruc MOTM for his single save and clawing away of a cross speaks volumes. Im not overly criticising Rickie, he is a big player for us, but he was poor. Saying stuff like 'if you dont get how he was so good yesterday then your an idiot' is a bit thick really, but Ive explained why he was poor IMO so perhaps you want to point out what he did yesterday that was so effective ? -

Im also part of the footie thickie group, shame as I always thought you and Kraken knew a thing or two, unfortunately you've been brought down to my level. -
Utter crap Corks much more sound then Davis whos industry helped out immensely but his defensive positioning isnt as good as Corks, yes it didnt help that WBA came at us more after the goal and also Lambert didnt seem available as an out ball even less as the game wore on but ultimately there was a large DM shaped hole in the midfield when cork left.
-
Same old trolls dangling the bait I see, well done in the main for ignoring it... I think we have missed him majorly, much more defensively minded then cork (who played v well yesterday) and was improving before the injury, needlessly wastes possession at times but allows morgan and the others push on. Getting him and Boruc fit is massive.
-
Exactly. He looked up atleast twice for that pass and made it, maybe he got a bit lucky but personally I think he meant it. Him and Lallana are our real creative elements along with J Rod with his direct running (not as creative from a passing sense just a destructive sense) I also think he is starting to work harder, as I said before happy to give him 6 months and right now happy to have him in the side. Obviously some just have agendas.
-
This Although when he headed that ball accross our own box I had to question whether he has ever been taught how to defend
-
It was adam and he passed him the armband when he went off.

Well I was, I could question whether you were unless its just blind loyalty ? He won some good headers but in the main didnt direct them anywhere, too many slack passes. Was very slow getting back into an attacking position after coming deep. Was not available as an out ball towards he end of the game when we were under pressure. His shooting was off. Yes he controls a ball very well but too often yesterday he controled well, found space but then wasted possession. So no I dont rate it as one of his better games. -
If you read their forums he isnt alone TBH and always been surprised by the dullards bemoaning him being lent out, he really isnt that good.
-
As always a kneejerk reaction to a player on here, clearly I was wrong and Welbeck wouldnt start scoring after getting an extended run as a striker...........

Agreed except for the bit about Rickie, he was terrible. -

My bad lol Still, I think Clyne is quality and defended exceptionally today but wasnt his usual attacking self. Very excited about our right flank though as honestly dont think Chambers is far at all from Clynes ability and is only 18. -

Completely the way I saw it. Ive also seen Guly replace Lambert late on aswell instead of J Rod as I think J Rod adds more due to his athleticism -

Clynesa very good player and defended incredibly well but I did say towards the last 20 mins to sub him for Chambers as today he was poor going forward. Usually Id agree and yes his name is on the plane for me to Brazil but today wasnt his finest.
