  1. SSN quoting that Paul Hart is high on the list to take over at St Marys !!!
  2. The replacement of Pardew would be madness, not just because of the manager but the knock on effect to back room staff, players brought in by Pardew, morale, uncertainty etc.. How ever (potentially) good a new manager may be he will have to have time to settle and have a team in his style built up. We cannot afford another season of rebuilding. Pardew record since mid January when his current squad was finally asssembled is 13 W, 5 D and 3 L which equals 44 points from 21 matches that would be 96 points if that form was over the whole season, that to me means that he has done a good job and deserves to have at least another season with us.
  3. When did the alledged booing of NC take place?, if it was before the match it was for Malwinney and if during the second half it was for the Carlisle supporters not keeping the Mexican Wave going. People are not always looking at the screen they can be looking at things going on in the stadium or on the pitch. No booing for NC that I heard from Block 236 (south west corner), only cheers for anyone to do with SFC.
  4. I remember at the Dell in the 70's when they used to play the vinyl records before the match. It used to make me laugh when they rarely had the records that had been requested for example ' we'd like to say happy 7th birth to Jimmy Bloggs who would like to hear ?????? however we haven't got that so here's We are the Champions by Queen' Also often the records jumped and sounded warped, probably left in the sun or near a radiator LOL.

    Final Tickets

If you have a customer/database number and have bought online before try buying online NOW, I know 2 mates who have bought online already without being season ticket holders and got 2 tickets each as if they were season ticket holders.
  6. I know of 2 other people who are similar to your situation i.e. not season ticket holders but used to have membership who have bought online before managed to order Wembley tickets online already.
  7. I think that the online sales system works very well both for my previous ticket purchases and my Wembley and Tranmere tickets this week. No complaints, so far !
  8. I can only see £34 and £24 tickets available online, have the more expensive seats all sold ?
  9. This design looks really good and distinctive with the twin arches, do you know what the extra capacity would be ? Its also interesting to see an improved pedestrian railway bridge which in my opinion should be improved anyway regardless of any changes to the stadium. Also does anyone know the status of any plans for redevelopment of the surrounding area such as the Industrial Estate, Bank of the Itchen / Marine Parade (Gravel Works etc..) and Gas Works (I had heard that the Gas Works could be relocated). I've recently seen talk about a New Ice Rink and Snow Dome in the area so maybe the area is earmarked as a Leisure redevelopment area ?
  10. Maximum ticket allocation that I have seen is 37000 for Luton in last years JPT final, Gillingham got 38000 for the play off last year. Seems to be problems with segragation by giving one club too many. Hopefully they can find a way round it this year. http://www.kentonline.co.uk/kentonline/sport/2009/may/17/gillstickets.aspx
  11. Last 5 league matches LWLDD, obviously not good enough form for play offs but 4 of the 5 matches were away to teams above us in the league. The last 2 league match results that have been draws have felt worse because we have not hung on to the lead, if we had come from behind to draw 1-1 it wouldn't feel so bad to me as it then feels like 1 point won rather than 2 points lost. I do feel that we have lost some attacking threat since Connelly was injured, I also feel that Pardew should bring Papa on with at least 15 minutes to go to give us a better chance of getting another goal.
  12. All 3 new signings and Holmes starts
  13. Words to the effect of ' Southampton have signed Coventry defender Elliot Ward on an 18 month contract'
  14. Still on SSN League 1 News tab.
  15. I hope that they don't re-schedule it until March as a part from a potential JPT final that month is looking less busy. Is there any time limit to how long a postponed match can be delayed by ?
  16. I don't think that the game at Colchester is in doubt due to higher temperatures than of late - 6c tomorrow, 4c Xmas Day, 7c on Saturday and 6c Sunday Latest news from the Colchester site http://www.cu-fc.com/page/News/0,,10424~1913474,00.html
  17. Match highlights (brief) is on bbc iplayer League Show at about 52 minutes
  18. You weren't directed by this Walsall fan were you ? by swiftyboy » Sat Dec 05, 2009 12:56 pm Ive just been approached by four Southampton fans by The Fullbrook, asking where there is a decent pub. I have sent them on a wild goose chase, and given them directions to The Duke Of Wellington by the church at the top of the hill. They will get a shock to see it boarded up!! swiftyboy
  19. The Saints are one of a number of clubs who have been watching Striker Calvin Zola at Crewe Alex (according to my friend who supports 'the Alex'), but Derby are also interested and are currently favourite to sign in January. Has scored 10 league 2 goals in 15 matches so far this season but wasn't that prolific prior to that. Scored 4 goals in 8 games for Congo. 25 yo, 6ft 2in tall. Could be a good prospect.
  20. In my previous post I some how forgot about Charlton, revised info is: 'Just for a bit of fun' if the last 8 game form is applied to the end of the season then the final table is: 1 Leeds 112pts 2 Norwich 99pts 3 Charlton 90pts 4 Huddersfield 85pts 5 Walsall 84pts 6 Millwall 80pts 7 Swindon 79pts 8 SAINTS 76pts 9 Colchester 74pts So Saints just miss out according to this, however I can't see Walsall or Swindon carrying on with their recent good form or Bristol Rovers and MK Dons with their poor form so could come back into contention, so as long as Saints can carry on with their recent form we will be in with a chance of the playoffs. Ifs, buts and maybes !!
  21. I guess that the next 8 games could be: A Walsall - Draw H Tranmere - Win A Leeds United - Lose H Exeter City - Win A Colchester - Draw H Huddersfield - Draw A Millwall - Win H Swindon Town - Win 4 wins, 3 draws and 1 loss. 15 points should keep us in with an outside chance of the play offs. A lot will also depend upon injuries, suspensions and towards the end of the 8 games any comings and goings in the January transfer period.
  22. When comparing Saints points tally in the last 8 matches to those in automatic promotion places or around the play off zone. Leeds -2pts (Saints 2 points less then Leeds in last 8 league games) Charlton +2pts (Saints 2 points more than Charlton in last 8 league games) Norwich - 2 pts Colchester + 7pts Huddersfield + 1 pt Bristol Rovers + 8pts Walsall +1pt Millwall + 4pts MK Dons +8pts Swindon +3pts 'Just for a bit of fun' if that 8 game form is applied to the end of the season then the final table is: 1 Leeds 112pts 2 Norwich 99pts 3 Huddersfield 85pts 4 Walsall 84pts 5 Millwall 80pts 6 Swindon 79pts 7 SAINTS 76pts 8 Colchester 74pts So Saints just miss out according to this, however I can't see Walsall or Swindon carrying on with their recent good form or Bristol Rovers and MK Dons with their poor form so could come back into contention, so as long as Saints can carry on with their recent form we will be in with a chance of the playoffs. 23. I have to say that I am the other some might say boring extreme. I arrive at SMS or away match before the gates open, buy a programme and read it while waiting for the gates to open. I'm one of the first in the ground and have a pie and pint, get to my seat in time to cheer the team onto the pitch and watch the team warm up. I rarely move from my seat or standing position from the team warm up to the final whistle, and then I'm normally one of the last out of the ground and then sit in the car listening to the football results on the radio until the traffic clears. A lot of my match ritual comes from me being a short nipper in the 1970's arriving early at 1.00pm to stand at the front of the Archers so that I could see, and you dare not move during the match otherwise you'd lose your place. I think that modern seat allocation and catering concourses makes people more inclined to arrive late and move around to get drinks etc... It still amazes me how empty stadiums appear to be 15 minutes before kick off and how any real singing only starts just before kick off (the loud tannoy music in the grounds doesn't help this though!) It can be annoying people moving blocking your view during the match but it has never been a particular problem to me and people are normally understanding and apologetic. People enjoy matches in different ways and as long as it doesn't spoil others way of enjoying the match then thats OK.
  24. I'm a great believer in playing your strongest 11 + subs unless there are injuries/suspensions that prevent this. The spacing of the next 4 games (6 days, 5 days, 4 days, 6 days) gives the players time to recover from each game with lighter training in between. If results had been poor lately then changes could be tried but with our good run of late unnecessarily tinkering with the team could cause disruption to the newly built team understanding, switch some players off that may not play for up to 2 weeks and put at risk the current team momentum. Yes injuries obviously can happen in games but as many injuries seem to happen in training, to protect players from injuries and suspensions by not playing them can be counter productive.
  25. I thought that he played well for the Trinidad U21s a few weeks ago, he was according to the commentators their 'star' player. However there is a big difference between that and the 'heavy weight' play of Div 1. I hope that he does well at Torquay and comes back the better for it as I think that he has good potential. In Pardew we trust.
