He doesn't ever look likely to score a goal, which is not great for a striker. Also, his link up play is nowhere near good enough to justify a place in a premier league side if you are the type of striker who won't score loads. Once Austin is back I personally wouldn't have him in the squad based on ability as Gabbi and Long are better sub options. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk

I would love to see that starting 11 - nice and positive from the start and would get the crowd right behind the team. Sadly, I expect MP will probably pick Redmond, JWP and Romeu rather than Sims, Gabbi and Hojbjerg. Will be the usual cautious stuff from the start, with Sims and Gabbi likely being thrown on late again to try and salvage a point in the dying minutes.

Very lucky point. Stand by for the bull **** in the post match interview about our “character”, how it shows we are growing, and how everything can change in the next few weeks. Don’t fall for it Les, he has to go now.

What a surprise.

We weren’t much better against West Brom in my opinion. Difference was West Brom are dire defensively currently and gifted us 2 goals.

This has got 1-0 Burnley written all over it, probably a late goal. Are we ever going to wake up this season and realise we are in a relegation scrap?

We have proved over 2 games that under MP we are marginally better than West Brom. Unfortunately, that means we are worse than pretty much everyone else in the premier league. A typical game between 2 struggling sides really. Lacking quality for most of the match, with the Tadic and Rondon goals out of character with everything else on show. McCarthy apart, I thought we still looked dodgy at the back, allowing a number of free headers in the box that would have been punished by a better side. I actually thought Redmond was reasonable and one of our more effective players today as at least he was prepared to run with the ball in the direction of their goal which was a novelty to see in our side. Sims also looked lively in the short time he was on. All in all, we won and have a quarter final to look forward to, but don't think the performance gives much confidence of better things to come in the league. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk

Maybe so, but the more sensible club owners and chairmen are able to recognise that results on the pitch trump everything else in football, and that the commercial and corporate types will be out of a job if the team and manager are not good enough to keep the club in the premier league. So incredibly short sighted though? Do they not realise that all that global branding stuff goes straight out the window the instant we cease to be a premier league club? Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk

That is just so so depressing to read. So much complacency and head in sand mentality even now. Pellegrino's own comments hardly seem to convey the urgency required to get the results needed now to avoid relegation, he's talking about improvement in 6 months FFS! I fail to see this improvement that the board think has been shown in last few weeks. We managed to scrape a win at the bottom club, but all other performances have been totally in keeping with the rest of our season so really don't see where this confidence in MP to turn it around is coming from. Seems to be just blind faith and hope rather than anything based on real evidence or analysis. And talking about next few games being pivotal for managers future is surely massively missing the bigger picture which is if we don't get results in next 5 games we are down and it's irrelevant what happens with the manager after that point as far as this season is concerned! Hoedt really isn’t great, is he? Pretty worrying he is now considered our best centre back.

FFS. Could do with Bournemouth winning this one.

Did we really have any intention of buying Promes?

I agree that our squad should be plenty good enough to be well clear of relegation if well managed. BUT if we aim to finish "high up the table", there are a couple of areas that definitely need addressing where our squad has definitely regressed in last couple of seasons. One of those is a lack of pacy attacking players who can find the net. So, given that Promes always seemed like a 50/50 chance of us signing him at best, it's disappointing and a bit strange that the club weren't able to do more in lining up another good alternative to strengthen this area of the team. They clearly had the cash available hence the large bids for Promes. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk -
I think the 5 games after Liverpool are critical. If we can win 3 of those, I reckon we should be OK.

Klopp making himself look a **** as usual in post match interview. Both pens were right, get over it!
-
Another pen, will Kane take!
-
What a goal by SAlah, great skill.
-
Because our board accepts the compensation offered by the club who wants them. In Watford’s case they refused to do this. You could argue this was wrong as they ended up sacking him anyway!
-
If he had resigned, pretty certain he wouldn’t have been allowed to simply then join Everton as the contract he signed with Watford wouldn’t allow this and Watford would still hold his registration.
-
Don’t mind seeing a bit of that personally, within reason. It’s good that several of them are confident enough to step up and take responsibility and also that the other players sorted it out. Also Boufal was first to celebrate with JWP so no problem.
-
On balance think I’d rather see Palace win this as can’t see them going down with their firepower going forward. Newcastle more likely to get dragged down.
-
Phew!!! Puts 6 points between us and West Brom and gives us a chance of staying up. Still a massive amount to do though given our remaining fixtures. Not sure what this means manager wise. If it was right to sack MP before today does it make it wrong now just because we've squeaked out a win at the bottom club? Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
