  1. Pretty much sums up my opinion of him. Not quite effective enough to be relied on and doesn't score enough, but if he is mostly on our bench and sort of takes on the "Long" role of being the speed option late on in a game, he is a decent option. Doubt we'd get better to be mostly on the bench, unless it's a kid. Sell or stay I'm not overly bothered unless he remains first choice!!
  2. Are you thick? It's not about how things stand right now. It's about the process of pre-season followed by the competition and how Ralph creates his team, trains his team (with his new trainers) and whether he is better at his game management and getting high level performances. Therefore top is 8 is success, top 12 is where all this should really get him, and less than that will not really prove his worth. Enjoy your low expectations and poor understanding of how sport works.
  3. This. Some "lesser' teams like perhaps Fulhma and Bournemouth for example would probably jump at the chance of taking Bednarek Redmond and Moussa, even Stephens perhaps, because thet would deem them as experienced/proven PL performers, whereas we know they are not good enough for us any more to make us better. I am excited so far by the signings, Lavia included and also by some of the names linked. In general we seem to be linked to more players than usual and better players than usual. This is Ralph's last chance to prove his worth though, with his chosen backroom and his own team. Top 8 would be success, top 12 satisfactory, anything less I would deem as mediocre (or worse depending on actual position!). I am more hopeful than for a long time though subject to getting 4 or 5 more players.
  4. To be fair I've not really seen him a lot but one or two Rangers fans I know think he's pretty decent and they're normally good judges. I agree though we probably need someone different to him (Id love CHO regardless as how unlikely it might seem) but as well as him, together with Stu Armstrong and probably Tella (one more season to establish himself), it sounds better than last seasons group with Redmond, Moussa and Theo.
  5. Oh dear🤦
  6. Is that a good reliable source ?
  7. And his dad may well be a big bonus!!
  8. Never someone who scored enough but scored some important goals. No questioning his effort and his pace but glad he's off as frees up some space for hopefully two new strikers.
  9. I really don't get the obsession with experienced players. We have a squad overly burdened with " experience" already and that ain't getting us anywhere. JWP, Romeu, Stu Armstrong, KWP, Adams, even McCarthy, all have plenty of experience, as does Perraud and Lyanco. Redmond, Walcott, Long, Bednarek, Stephens, Moi, can all move on as even though they have experience they aren't going to help us improve. What I think people really mean is not experience as such but they'd feel more comfortable with 2 or 3 players who are perhaps 50-100 ges into top flight football but still young enough to develop further. I think we will get one striker in the mid 20s (24-26) type of age and that will likely be it for "experience. The rest who arrive I predict will be 18-22 type age. Sure itay sound nervy to some but it's hugely exciting I think.
  10. So Diblings birthday (according to transfrmarket) is in March, so he does not turn 17 until next year. Presumably this means Newcastle cannot sign him on a Pro contract until then? In which case, are there any restrictions on scholars moving club before this time? Or is this "signing" being put in place for March? If this kid is anywhere near as good as people are suggesting then surely we can match the money being touted around, but perhaps he actually wants to move for some reason. People are allowed to😂 When ypu look individualy at players and who comes and who goes its easy to get excited or disappointed but what matters is whether overall the club gets stronger and better as a collective, at all levels. Currently that seems to be the case.
  11. Wouldn't mind if they sold Bedanrek and Stephens
  12. I wonder whether JwP should be utilised further forward and not as on of the 2 midfielders in front of the defence. His main skills are obviously crossing and passing and his shooting has improved so if he's further upfield more we might get more out of our strikers?
  13. Presumably not, really. SR are a separate company to all the others who are in themselves separate companies. SR can place their funds wherever they see fit. Each company can have arrangements between themselves as they see fit. We need to give it 2 or 3 seasons to see how it's operating fully.
  14. It was a punt, a reasonable one, that so far hasn't worked out. I dont think he will make it at Premier League level with us.
  15. I dont see the benefit of loaning AA if we do not bring in 2 strikers. Kaladsik (or however its spelt!) and Delap, with Adams, and possibly this Ballard kid might be enough but is that better than what we had last season with AA Adams Broja and Long? Possibly it is. Probably can't be much worse!! Even if we don't loan or sell AA we need at least one "established" striker who has as good a chance of hitting the ground running as possible.
  16. Hopefully does not meant expecting. But that is who I'd like to see go. I only expect Bednarek and Walcott and/or Redmond. McCarthy doesn't appear to be on the market but should be. These new owners "might" be willing to take a hit on 2 or 3 players to help clear the decks rather than having players sitting in the squad offering little to the group. Who knows🤷‍♂️ Being Saints fans = hope is eternal. I'm hoping things improve this summer😂
  17. Hopefully quite a few... Bednarek, McCarthy, Stephens, Djeneppo, Redmond,Walcott, Long, NDundulu.
  18. I think he worth at least 75m to us but in the market probably 50-60 in reality. But this is a sellers market because of his contract length. I am mixed about him leaving but for 75m+ it might be a good option, if it gets us 2-3 25m ish players.
  19. I think he's a decent coach (as he appears to develop individuals well) but aim not convinced by his game management and team selection. Overall and ultimately results matter more than development and he hasn't really got that consistency. Our extremes of performance levels suggest he doesn't adapt or adapts very too easily or randomly. For me he should probably go but who to replace him with is a tricky one!! I dont think he will before the season, as think these new owners would of done so by now if they wanted to.
  20. Very happy with that prospect. Although an experienced (so to speak) CB would be useful as think Bednarek will go, Stephens is 4th best choice at best and Lyanco still has alot to prove. As he's not yet been announced I'm hopeful Tarkowski might sign (but I know its 95% Everton!!!). But someone of his ilk is probably required.
  21. Is it possible that JWP would be better suited to being one of the 2 between midfield and strikers in a 4 2 2 2 thus meaning this player Svanverg (and diallo as next option) will play in the midfield 2 with Romeu? I still think we need another Romeu type but perhaps JWP playing slightly more forward would work well, and allow him to get in more forward positions more often.
  22. Pretty excited by this signing. Needs to be backed up with 5-6 quality signings but great start!
  23. No quotes from JWP. Pure opinion which is an easy assumption to make. No reason to panic.
  24. Yeah. I see them as first options in reality, although I know they are technically different, IF City in this case wanted to get him back the price is probably lower than we might get on the open market. Subtle differences and may seem like we lose out but when you're getting from the (or one of) best clubs in the world, the 2 to 3 years or whatever he is here will be very good indeed. Win win in my eyes.
  25. Highly unlikely I'm sure but perhaps we are looking to get rid of AMC too!! 🤞🤞anway😂
