  1. Every Tuesday at Exile Gym in Shirley, same guy that runs it does Andover and Amesbury on Mondays and Wednesdays (a bit far for me) and now a new session every Thursday in Hythe. I would go to that but I play 6 a side on Thursday night which I don't want to miss. Know what you mean re' Krav, best thing I've ever done, would recommend it to anyone. Looking at entering some inter club K2 tournaments. Lot's of rules unfortunately but the only thing Krav doesn't have is element of competition so if my Krav instructor thinks I'm good enough, I'll get in the cage and have a go! Tell you what though, before our session on Tuesdays the Wrestling lads are finishing up. Fookin hell, they are super fut, most do it as part of an all round UFC weekly routine, but these guys are solid and look like they've been mangled by the end of their session! The instructor is brilliant, a Romanian ex Olympic Gold medalist who absolutely mullers some of the huge Polish/ UFC lumps in there with his technique! Can't believe there's nowhere near Harrogate that does Krav mate, shocking! Think there's a bloke on here (Hockey Saint?) that does a form of high impact Kung Fu that is very similar to Krav? Going on memory and don't know what it's called and if that would be any more accessible for you?
  2. I'm a fan of your work, but here you have exceeded yourself! Genuinely laughing in the office, you had me at the first sentence to be fair!
  3. Yep, Mick Dennis issued the apology yesterday. Said wrong to say 20%, was in fact 14%. Will try and post a screen grab I just got off Clipshare: [/img]
  4. Managed to lose over 2 stone thanks to a mix of Krav (now a P3, aiming to be a P5 hand to hand combat machine by the end of the year), running 3-5 times a week inc Park Run up the Common. When I started I was scraping into the top 100 with times around the mid 23mins, quickly got that down to low 21mins, I aim to break 20mins this year. It may kill me but I'm going to do it. Now I've shifted a fair chunk of fat I'm doing circuits (well a Taba regime recommended by a mate of mine in the Navy, handy for doing in the garden/ garage/ park whatever) and some basic Kettle Bell training along with lots of lifting my own body weight. Basically to anyone starting out, it really does take about 6 weeks of improved diet and exercise before you notice a difference, 8 weeks before over people do and 12 to realistically reach a goal. The 5:2 had almost instant results, I genuinely look forward to fasting on Mondays now (I'm starving as I type) as I like the feeling fasting gives me after a heavy weekend. It in turn improves your overall diet and you recognise you need nowhere near as much crappy food as before. Weekends I still have a proper blow out though, just throw some exercise in somewhere to compensate. All in all I feel really good, spent a fortune on new jeans/ suits (lost 4" off the waist) and tops (now a S/M rather than a M/L) and it really wasn't that difficult. Big thing is lifestyle though, I commuted to London every day which took a huge chunk of my day. I won't work in London 5 days a week again purely because of the effect on my health, lifes too short and I've got a cracking work/ life balance. Working from home today so gonna log off now and do a cheeky 6k run before my long awaited dinner! Keep it up everyone, Turkish - shocking there's no Krav near you, these Northeners really are behind the times! You know what us Krav guys think of Martial "Arts", I look forward to your first Win Chun/ Mai Thai/ Kung Fu lesson where someone goes for a kick and you immediately, instinctively move in for a knee to the groan, fingers in the eyes and a elbow to the throat. Before scanning obviously...
  5. Torquay look like going down. Northampton on the other hand will survive imo. I know one of the players they signed in January, they have invested large amounts on new players and poached Oxford's manager. I genuinely think they'll finish comfortably above the skates who are in real trouble looking at their upcoming fixtures, especially as it seems the other lower sides (Accrington, Gas, Wycombe etc) are all picking up points. Even if they do survive, Jesus they have a massive rebuilding job to do in the summer, not sure how long their budget can survive L2 and the inevitable dwindling crowds and/ or gate revenues on top of FA/ League Cup 1st round KO's.
  6. As a young lad I did loads of away games on his coaches, including one of the most entertaining games I've done, West Ham away, Le God free kick, 3-3, pitch invasions and general madness before, during and after the game. Brilliant! Top bloke Dennis, staunch Saints fan and never wore anything other than a suit and tie!
  7. No doubt the July point is there to link with ST sales (buy a share and get X off your 14/15 ST). They are clearly seriously rattled and desperate for donations, those HNW are eating into their %.
  8. "She's back": Take a bow Daily Echo sub's.... http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/10999890.Pompey_hope_Tesco_will_improve_Fratton_Park/?ref=var_0
  9. I struggle to put into words how much I love that man's attitude! Massive signing for us both in terms of ability and attitude, clearly rubbed off on Fonte and probably others. Genuinely wouldn't swap him for any other Premier League CB.
  10. Thanks Guys, thought as much. Cracking deal that I can see many people taking up. Putney is a great part of London, looking forward to a good clean drink in the many very good pubs round there. In fact I once woke up in a flat there with a Kiwi nurse after a School Disco night at PoNaNa's in Hammersmith. Happy memories indeed....
  11. Myself and 5/ 6 others are going up ticketless this Saturday (done Craven Cotage a few times, if I get a ticket up there great, if not a local pub on satellite it is). Anyway, SWT are offering £10 day returns from anywhere on the network (Botley in my case) at weekends until Feb 22nd (useful for West Ham too). Just wondering if this ticket extends/ is valid at Putney if changing at Clapham Junction? I'm assuming it does but don't want a surprise when we all get there. From what people were saying last night, seems a lot of Saints going up for the day without tickets. Trains are going to be seriously busy I expect, with that in mind will the £5 weekend upgrade to first class be available? Cheers.
  12. Just on twitter, their new CEO is saying any more "share" purchases/ pledge conversions, between now and April deadline will be used to fund a new training ground. Now I'm no land magnate/ property developer, but I'm not sure where or how you can buy 10 - 15 acres of land in PO and develop that land into multi surface pitches/ changing rooms, gym, offices etc for a few thousand £? Not another desperate attempt to get more conversions eh? If the Presidents have to stump up the difference needed for new training facilities that would bring them well over the 50% mark. 13. I work closely with Sunseeker, have done for many years. This is complete b******s. Literally everything you've mentioned is either massively sensationalised (Cortese "dragging" the players to a photoshoot long planned by marketing dept as part of sponsorship deal) or just randomly made up (no Saints players were given lol, or bought a Sunseeker after or during the show). Your ignorance of Sunseeker's parent company and it's ownership structure is, frankly, staggering. Look pal, it's clear you have some sort of agenda but try not to lie eh. Not cool.
  14. No offence fella, but thank god you are no where near selecting our side/ subs or we'd have 1 point yesterday not 3. Gaston was clearly (to any non narrow minded anti moron) the difference with his outrageous through ball to Lallana, direct running, skill and all round footballing brain. A pleasure to watch for me and my season ticket holding mates. By the way Cork was playing well, top sub by Poch, a bold one at that. I am lucky enough to be bought up a Southampton fan. I love a "champagne footballer". Barry mush, you probably love 442 "GET IT FORWARD" football, Dowie flick ones to Shipperly etc. I was there too in those days, the wins were great (few and far between like but good), however only a genuine footballing dinosaur can fail to see Gaston's obvious class. Lallana is worth my ST money alone just to see his first touch. Chill out, think back to how it was a few years back, spark a cigar, crack a smile on your face and lean back enjoying what we are getting served up. It's alright on the sunny South coast. Up the ****ing Saints.
  15. That's why I moved to Botley . 3 Village pubs (my local is the Brewery Bar as it's on my road about 100 metres away and has a top Landlord and Landlady that do a lot for the community) plus Kings at Pinkmead, the Railway, the Pear Tree up Borley Green way and (if you're skint or just fancy some snooker) the Legion. Hedge End is pretty shocking pub wise, especially as I basically learnt to drink in the Fountain (rough old boozer that was). Won't go near the 'Barn or the Dolphin in Botley (Green King, Hungry Horse **** holes with ever changing "Management"). That said, most of our friends live in Hedge End so me and the missus happy to walk 20 minutes to the Corn and pay peanuts for a drink with our mates (Prosecco for £8 a bottle ffs, the missus is happy as you can get). Hedge End and Botley separated by about 200 metres of green space, but miles apart in terms of charm, character, history and pub choice.
  16. A good mate of mine who I moved up to London with in 2003 was down for the summer, he is a financial trader that bailed out of a job in Dubai at the last minute and moved back with his Old Dear in Hedge End until he found another job in the City, which took a couple of months. Anyway, we spent a lot of time in the Barleycorn (Hedge End's only pub) over those months, he couldn't get his head around beer at less than £3 a pint, and a round of a bottle of wine and 2 pints being C£12. He was living in Angel, and now has moved back from there, try getting a pint for less than £4 round there, and the equivalent round (bottle of wine + 2 pints) for less than £20! That being said, he missed the buzz, the money, the lifestyle and the opportunities London gives him, so moved back up there. Also said Southampton birds were rough as f***. Err, might have a point there :-). Now I just get to see that poncey, drunken light weight at London away games and Christmas Eve!
  17. Lived in London for 3 years and worked there for 9. Been lucky enough to visit some great cities around the world through my work and on holiday. London is one of the greatest cities on Earth to visit, to work, to live. In fact I'd put it (just) above New York as number one. You simply cannot compare (seriously) any other UK City to London, to try and suggest a foreign tourist, aspirational young professional/ creative or wealthy individual should or would consider Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield, Leeds, Bristol, Cardiff or even Southampton over London is nonsense. Don't live there now, moved back to Hants to be around Family and friends - more important to me than the City I live in. However I miss the buzz of London and the swagger it gives you. I have found it seriously hard to recruit decent staff to my new work in Basingstoke, basically if you are ****ing good at what you do, you do it in London. My biggest bug bear when living in the Smoke (and I'm sure the Soton ex pats on here get this all the time) is mates/ family from Southampton sucking their teeth and saying "London, nah, could never live there, all the nice areas back onto dumps, it's expensive, the locals are rude and it's always busy". Their experience of London is, in fact Christmas shopping at Westfield/ Oxford Street 2 Saturday's before Christmas! In fact it can be as chilled out or as manic as you want it to be. That's what makes it so special to me anyway. Just my opinion.
  18. Kelvin is club captain and carries huge respect inside the club. His wife organises all the ladies days out, and KD is responsible for integrating new squad members and has a massive personality that goes a long way to keep moral high. On the pitch, without Kelvin I think Lallana has grown into the armband and is a worthy vice captain. However, on the handful of occasions Kelvin will start, it is accepted he will wear the armband. Kelvin has been told he will stay on at the club after his contract runs out, again this is due to his presence in/ around the squad. One of our biggest attributes is the cohesion in the squad, Kelvin (and his wife) are a big part of that. Similar happened with Jaidi. I expect the same to happen to Rickie.
  19. Gaston was magnificent when he came on. A genuine World Class talent potentially there, need to somehow get him playing regularly.
  20. I know the reason for this, was speaking to one of our previous Managers 2 weeks ago at a family do, he was telling me about AOC. He was basically the opposite of Theo, he was from 9 to 13 years old the absolute stand out player in England, then at 13 other players starting out growing him and he dropped way down the pecking order as his physical development didn't kick in until 16. This ex Manager is certain that he would have been released at other clubs but we supported him throughout, worked on his technique and reaped the rewards when he caught up with everyone else. By which time he was ready to go straight into the U21's. Theo on the other hand absolutely burst onto the scene at 13/14, before his 15th birthday he was recognised as the most exciting player in European youth football and we had Barca, Real, Milan, United, Liverpool, Arsenal etc all watching him from that age. Different players get to a similar level at different times, really interesting chat actually. Basically, don't get too hung up on how many players get into the U18/ U19 year groups. U21's a far better barometer of where we are at youth level as that's where the real talent will get fast tracked to. If Chambers isn't promoted to the U21's next squad I'll be genuinely shocked.
  21. At Spurs away last season I got battered and spent the entire train journey from WHL to Seven Sisters singing: Don't Cry for me Pochetino The truth is you'll never leave us Even on bad days We play great football You kept your promise... And took us to Europe Repeat... OK, he hasn't got us to Europe yet and everyone else on the carriage thought I was a wrongun. **** 'em, up the Saints!
  22. Just under 2000 tickets sold in blocks 1-4 according to official site. However, due to the online ticketing fiasco that doesn't allow you to view seats in block 2 (seat numbers 15 to 40, home to my ST seat, so can't buy tickets in that area for some mental reason) the just under 2000 number is 1,3 and 4 only and we have probably sold a lot more in the total 1-4 area over the phone/ people collecting in person. With walk up should be about 3000 of us there + however many tickets the skates have sold (literally no more than a handful will turn up with no tickets, despite the myths they are peddling safely in a PO postcode. Anyway, I'm done for the day and off into town to get on the lash. Up the Saints!
  23. At the weekend I was talking to an ex Manager of ours now involved at Youth level for another club, I mentioned this game and he doesn't believe most of our first team 18 year olds (Reed, Shaw, Chambers, JWP etc) are eligible as they were 18 or over at the start of the season. Anyway, I'm personally looking forward to tonight. Any match at any level against that lot is a big game to me and any local nippers involved. Hope we smash 'em!
  24. Cheers, will get on that now
  25. Saw a purse outside Basingstoke post office a couple of weeks ago, picked it up and handed it in at the Post Office. Didn't think about it either, even though there were notes sticking out of it. Only after handing it in I thought "I could have kept the cash there", glad I didn't though.
