  1. What email have you used. Won't make a tiny bit of difference but I'm going to complain about the away supporters fun. I suggest as many people do as possible, the odd voice here and there will be ignored, if we do it on our hundreds then maybe, just maybe, we'll get an explanation.
  2. Oh God, here we go again, same old rumours as every other time. Mate, you need to realise that EVERY time we have played them, been in the same place or even had the England game at SMS, before they make the same idle threats but they NEVER back it up. "Why do birds from Pompey have massive bristols and small ****s? ' Cos blokes from Pompey have big mouths and small *******s"
  3. Seriously, do people like matey above (an obvious WUM) get genuine pleasure out of posting this sort of stuff? What an empty life. Sad really I suppose. I'm getting seriously bored of seeing the same posters rehashing the same "questions". Mods, how many time can they ask the same question and go over the same ground, there are dozens of threads on here if people want to argue over the Gaston/ Osvaldo debate. No need for another one surely?
  4. Ha, all the local ex pats have said the same! Just sat in T3 waiting to fly back, top trip, have to say Dubai grew on me during my time here. Clear to see ex pats look out for each other business wise. Common theme being no matter what infrastructure, tech, facilities the locals out in the main thing needed is genuine talent, something that takes a generation or more to nurture. Anyway, enjoyed yet another buffet at the Millennium (airport this time) got to make the most of the booze packages eh Phil? Fella Ive been with is taking the Saints fan along to the golf corporate tomorrow (should have loomed at options before booking my flight back for tonight, schoolboy error not to be repeated). If you're there there will be someone else to enjoy our England dominance with at the Barasti or wherever you end up!
  5. Out in Dubai now for work, just got back to my place after a very nice meal with a new client at the Millennium Hotel (Asian restaurant on 18th floor)... And he was a Saints fan! Saints clearly running the Emirates! PS - the drivers out here are ****ing dangerous, not in a funny "look how fast he goes" Greek/ Italian/ Turkish taxi driver" way, I mean, proper, life threatening, lane dodging loons. Oh, and it's quite warm.
  6. That draw was a superb result. Hodgson has done exactly what is required so far. Agree it's frustrating he's not picked more of our players when Young, Milner, Cleverley etc are around the team, but you can't fault his results.
  7. Jeez, just remembered the topless barmaids they used to have upstairs in there a few years back. Genuinely shuddered at the memory of that, clearly still mentally scarred! Rotten.
  8. This is a joke, completely mugging off our (superb, let's be honest) travelling support. As someone pointed out earlier, the club lauds our travelling support on social media (#MarchingIn etc) so insults us with this. I know it won't make a difference but I'm going to email the club asking them for clarification. Anyone got a decent contact I can email? Love what this administration have done for our club, but the 2 areas they seem to be consistently ballsing up are the ticket office and general contempt for fans/ communication.
  9. Good post that. Dellhurst was a superb day, seemed to be Saints all over the ground, I know the first pitch invader at the end of the game was a long haired lad that ran from completely the opposite side of the ground to us in the away section! My mates and I have bought tickets off touts at Old Trafford, WHL, and Everton, snuck in at Upton Park and Selhurst, bribed a steward at Dean Court, personally convinced a skate turnstile operator that I had given him a ticket when I hadn't (well not really convinced but the angry mob behind me having been delayed on the train for over 2hrs and 15mins late for KO going through a bottleneck of 2 turnstiles meant they had no choice but to let me through), got spares at Villa and given up at Ipswich. Every journey worth it!
  10. To be fair I thought this was very clear beforehand? Well certainly to me and others at Stoke that were gutted we weren't counted as the "2 aways" last week, instead had to queue up yesterday and got one OK. Not one to stick up for our shambles of a ticket office but on this occasion, to me anyway, it was pretty clear Stoke didn't count - although on a rather different point I'd argue that it should have.
  11. Specifically Arsenal. When I was younger I would routinely travel to away games without a ticket in the hope I'd somehow get one on the day or jib into the ground. Had some great times doing that, and went in the knowledge that at the very worst, I'd have a great day on the p*** with my mates in a different City. Not sure it happens as much in recent years, certainly don't get young lads coming up and asking for spares in pubs/ trains etc as much. Probably because its more efficient to put a request in on twitter/ forums maybe? Or is it just that with all seater stadia, tighter regulations around ticketing etc people just don't want to take a chance? Main reason I ask is every man and his dog seems to want an Arsenal ticket. Suddenly a load of my mates that havn't been to an away game yet this season are queuing up to go, and to be fair 50% of those are willing to travel without a ticket (Angel/ Upper St/ Essex Road/ Holloway Road area is one of the best areas in London for a day on the p*** so can't blame them at all) which is good to see, wonder how many others are going to chance it?
  12. Not by me or anyone near my ST seat or at Stoke on Saturday, I think he's an outstanding talent and hope he plays consistently for us, if not no bother, means the others are doing the business. Offer your opinion by all means, but don't claim to speak for all of us.
  13. Think I'm right in saying the £200k is donated by the Premier League for a Premier league fixture so they can't use this? Maybe they could use it for the league fixture at the SOL, not that it is a help right now of course. I am also completely shocked at the general ineptitude of our Ticket Office, seriously it baffles me, however on this one the blame lies with the Football league and the OB, I (reluctantly) think it's not up to the club to compensate us for this one.
  14. A poor comparison I'm afraid. You don't have a store detective following you around with a handheld camera assuming you are going to take something? It changes the atmosphere completely as, quite rightly, we live in a society where we are presumed innocent. You are being paid to be at work, quite rightly your company has KPI's in place to monitor the fact you are working effectively. However we are maying more and more to go to a football match these days yet fans, like yourself, are happy to be treated like a piece of **** after coughing up £30+ just to get in the door (minus a bottle top or other potentially dangerous "you could take someone's eye out with that" weapon). Also, anyone that just says it's OK as you are doing nothing wrong obviously were not at Tranmere away a couple of season ago when they arrested a few of our fans for (genuinely, not a knee jerk reaction) absolutely no reason at all. Despite witnesses including a 60 year old woman in their defence, the Police tried claiming they insulted them with the word (and I may be wrong here as not being from Birkenhead I've never in my life heard the word used before) "Bute". These 2 fans now have football banning orders. I'm sorry but I would never ever trust a football copper. They need to justify their (rather cushy) role and won't hesitate to stitch fans up to reach their quota. I cringe when I see some of our more "excitable" support take pleasure in the fact the football OB know their name, talk to them etc. That's a huge red flag, stay away from them, avoid eye contact and never, ever speak to them.
  15. Mate of mine http://www.reesplastering.co.uk/ Owner is Lee Rees. Nice bloke and very good. Not the cheapest but reliable. Based in Hedge End, covers all SO, PO and BH postcodes. Not sure how busy he is at the moment. I'll PM you my details in case you want to name drop me
  16. Unfortunately anti white bullying is extremely common (as are many types of bullying) in inner city schools. My Mum was a teacher at Regents Park School where the white girls were called "milk bottles" amongst other insults by groups of Asian girls. It seems to me that those that deny it takes place have never been to a genuinely ethnically mixed inner city school. Turkish, your example seems extreme and particularly tragic.
  17. Nice one, cheers mate. Interesting what you say re going to see the murals, do the locals not fancy English fellas stood at the end of a terrace getting a photo before jumping back in a cab?
  18. Cheers, that Lavery's looks decent and is only a couple of minutes away from our Hostel. Football on all day in there, right that's my Saturday after noon sorted! http://www.laverysbelfast.com/sport.aspx?strFromDate=16%2f10%2f2013&strToDate=18%2f11%2f2013&catID=11&strSearch=
  19. Next Friday I'm off to Belfast for the weekend with my brother and a mate to watch the Carl Frampton fight on Saturday night. My Brother is staying with family in East Belfast, me and my pal are City Centre in a Hostel (Donegal Rd). My brother's been before but I've not. We've got a few things lined up - Taxi tour (booked, £25 for an hour for 2 people seems decent?), Titanic museum and maybe Belfast Gaol. From lunchtime onwards both days we will mostly be boozing to be honest, but if anyone has any tips of things to do/ places to go it would be much appreciated. Most importantly however, after my success on the Amsterdam thread here, what are the chances of someone pointing me in the direction of a boozer that will have the Man U vs Saints game on? We are guessing that there will be plenty of plastic Mancs in Belfast so hopefully a fair few places will have it on via satellite or a stream in the City Centre? Due to who we will be spending our time with a Unionist (or "don't give a **** either way") area/ bar would be appreciated. Cheers.
  20. If, and it's a massive "if" a club like us, Swansea or West Brom managed to somehow break into the top 4 this season I will be fascinated to see if Hodgson harnesses the obvious feel good factor in that squad and picks a group from them, for example using us as an example, Lambert, Lallana and Clyne. Lallana possesses the ability to beat a man with a trick, something not many people in the current squad can. He's a crowd pleaser, but as we all know, could score more goals. Love the lad myself, has stood by us in the lower leagues and is deserved captain IMO. Looks like even I'm getting carried away now!
  21. Not sure where you've heard the monorail thing? Not seen it mentioned since the 90's when they were last in fashion (before the Simpsons absolutely destroyed them the world over). Apart from that yes, they are completely redeveloping TQ. To be fair I think the City is starting to get itself together. The music events at the new Guildhall sq this summer have been superb, Portswood is getting a reputation of being somewhere you can find somewhere original to eat/ drink, the work at TQ and the plans for opening up the Waterfront not just there but near the stadium too. Anyone that has spent any time travelling round the country either for work, football or family reasons will know that clearly Southampton is no way in the top 10 worst places to live (neither are London or Chipping Norton obviously, people that slag London, probably the greatest City in the World, off have rarely lived or worked there and base their experiences around Christmas shopping trips or visits to football stadiums in, Fulham/ Chelsea aside, the worst parts of each borough) places like Luton, Slough, Liverpool, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Wigan, Rotherham, Birmingham, Ashford, Milton Keynes and f***ing Pompey are all complete dives and/ or cultural cesspits. Anyway I love my city, born bred and will be buried Southampton. Up the Saints!
  22. This. Walcott a far far better player than the other 2 ever will be. *Awaits a football forum moron to say Walcott has no footballing brain*
  23. All the doors in Pompey (and most of Southern England) are run by a company founded and owned by a well known Southampton family.
  24. Good point but I personally blame certain radio shows for bringing the lunatics out in the open. Adrian Durham openly baits Gooners every night on Talksport (or did, he was doing my head in so much I had to stop listening so not sure if he has carried on this season). Look at the replies to Piers' mental anti Wenger tweets, 90% from Arsenal fans and the vast majority disagreeing with his opinion and sticking up for Wenger/ Ramsey/ Wallcott/ whoever Piers wanted to slag off at the time. Going on from what Turkish says, and this is something Wenger himself has opinioned, in today's world where so many have access to 24hr news/ opinion and have a voice via twitter/ facebook/ football forums *cough* a season's worth of opinion is voiced over the space of an hour after a match. We have nutters like Alpine winding people up and on the opposite side, people going to extreme lengths to convince others (and themselves) that we can be a top 4 side. Personally I like to wait until Christmas, then see how we get on over Easter, then take stock at the end of the season and plan for next. That is how I was brought up, no knee jerk stuff, yeah discuss each game on it's merits but don't get carried away too early. I'm 100% certain it's the same at every club.
  25. I would go for Clay Pigeon shooting followed by ale/ whisky tasting Turks. Competitive but in a gentlemanly/ exec way with an opportunity for everyone to get p***ed up at the end of it. The shooting is superb, did it through work myself a few times, once in Kent actually, really good day out.
