I agree with this. However I am starting to believe. We've had years of expecting saints to fail, people have got used to it. I certainly have. Even last season we still did it the hard way. Maybe just maybe it will be different this year.

I thought we played quite well today and if any team deserved the win it was us. Blackpool's time wasting was pathetic and I'm glad it came back to bite them on the arse. I think we're just a few of players away from being a really great team, namely Chaplow back fit, Lallana back on form (didn't think he was especially poor, but we need him to be exceptional on a regular basis again), and in January we need to go out and get an out and out finisher. Guly, Richardson, Cork and Rickie stood out for me today, we really need Guly on form next week. Bart had an appalling game, and he cost us the win in the end. Oh well, players play badly sometimes and it's more obvious when you're a GK. Let's get behind him, and I'm sure he'll bounce back with a worldy if he plays at farton!

If NA was gonna play bothe Richardson and Butterfield on the right, I would expect FR to be the more advanced player. Mainly because he's better at getting to the byline whereas Butters is more effective crossing from deep. Doubt it will happen mind.

Currently sitting in 7th place in the PL with 10 games to go. Is anyone else finding that the amount of goals getting scored is a bit absurd? I regularly have games that finish 4 or 5-3, last season had a 6-4 win against Ipswich, and have just beaten Preston 6-3 in the FA Cup. Oh and not to mention a PL game against Fulham I've just had - finished 9-3! Starting to get a bit sick of it to be totally honest.

Just think how much Rickie Lambert has improved as a player over the last 2 and bit seasons. If Juke can show anywhere near the same progression then by the time he's 25 we could have one hell of a player on our hands. Obviously though right now, he would have to settle for back-up because I don't think he's there yet. I'm not sure about the Maynard love in tbh, I know he's had injuries but I think if he is really that good then at his age he would have made the step up by now. JayRod would still be my first choice, but I would welcome Lukas with open arms for the potential that he undoubtedly has.

I want my team to be the best it can be, with every player donning the red and white being able to test themselves against the best footballers on the planet. There are hundreds of reasons why the PL is great. I'm loving the NPC, but it's silly to say we're happy to stay in the second tier. Really silly imo.

Having just seen the video (thanks for that for_heaven_saint), I have to disagree. Indeed it wasn't strictly a bicycle kick, but the way he's caught it, the placement, the fact he is completely facing away from goal - incredible technique imo. Can't believe it was disallowed.

Signing Jos permanently is a given, but also think we could do with another CB on top of that. I'm not sure Martin is a long term option, and it seems unlikely that Jaidi or Seaborne will be back this season. May also be tempted to bring in a CM, as Chaplow seems to have excelled as a winger recently so a young CM like Butterfield might be useful. I think a quick striker to play off Rickie is a must really, again a younger player who won't mind starting off as an impact player, but also someone who'll make the step up if we get promoted. Sordell would be my choice.

Haven't seen an awful lot of him, but I don't think he's any better than what we have.

From a Coventry forum: Southampton who are currently the best side in the league did you see them consistently knocking the ball around between there centre halves? Must have been about 25 times in the first half one of the Southampton CB have pinged a 60 yard ball out to Fox or straight to the forwards man chest, that is not hoofball or ugly football that is a quality ball and a long way away from what we saw under Boothroyd. Then Southampton can play there football deep in our half. Also another thing about Southampton's play was the number of players they got forward, every time Southampton had an attack they had 4-5 players bombing forward as well as full backs. We don't do this. I think Southampton had a perfect balance between long/short ball and a good balance with committing players forward and not getting caught out on the counter attack. Sounds good. EDIT: Just seen that they also have a thread dedicated purely to Fox's cross for the second goal!
