  1. It's pretty simple really, given the choice of a quality player or an average one of british origin, theres no real decision? I personally feel this has helped many clubs with foreign managers? for example, would a British manager coming into arsenal at the time Mr. Wenger did, be able to remove the deadwood Brits in the team like he did and bring in the quality players he did and build the team he did? I find it a push to believe? Furthermore i often find British "talent" (a term used lightly) is vasty over-rated and simply over-priced! Darren Bent = £16m? really? really? another example is Stewart Downing? Whilst i actually do quite like the guy, i struggle to believe he would be the focus of so much attention if he were just another "Johnny Foreigner". i Stumbled upon (for those not ITK stumbleupon is an awesome firefox toolbar!) this t'other day http://www.goal.com/en/news/2377/top-10/2009/07/07/1368895/top-10-footballing-stereotypes and found the part about England strikingly true. its not 1966 anymore, we havent come close to winning anything since, and even when we did win it, we were hosts, South Korea anyone? This British Manager, British Centre Forward!...blah blah blah nonsense is a distant myth, is Harry Redknapp not a prime example of how this just doesnt really work in practice? even his "success" and spurs has come from quite literally rebuilding Jol's squad...a Dutchman? Whilst in a dream world we would have Le Tiss at the club in some capacity, with a british manager, and half the England U-21s squad, after the past few years i could not care less where a player comes from as long as they pull on the shirt and put in a shift and display some quality...they are a Saint...which is surely the most important thing no?
  2. I'm a student in leeds at the minute, so for obvious reasons its pretty hard to get to St Marys' but if any seats are going spare over the next season would love to be able to get down at least a couple of times, obviously more than willing to split fuel costs! ideally it would be more, but this New Labour's idea of Education, Education, Education for all and charging £20k for the privilege is a big obstacle to overcome!! Also, for some odd reason its rather tricky to find Saints fans up in Yorkshire? Funny how i never struggle to find Liversh!te or Manchester Red Sox fans in Landan?
  3. Personally, I'd say have a clear out. Faaar too much disinterested dead-wood in this team that has been hanging around picking up their paychecks for too long! Get in some young hungry lads, eager to prove their point, players who given a couple of years could be prem standard. If done right and with the right management they could get that chance in the prem with us. Look at what everton have done, its not about outstanding individuals, its about hungry determined players with a good work rate and teamwork. If there is ever a model for any club to follow David Moyes is up there amongst them
  4. Please not again i cant handle this!
  5. Let's try walking before we run eh? We are still at the time being in administration, and about to face league one with a 10 point deduction? These are the things that we need to be concerned about at the moment! Im not convinced we will come close to promotion next season, to reach the play-offs we will need to show title-challenging form, the winning mentality is not something that has really surrounded St. Mary's in recent times. First lets stable the ship, sort the financial mess and ownership issues out first. Then set about piecing together a TEAM that wants to play for saints and help us move back up the leagues.
  6. I feel exactly the same, I just NEED this entire situation to be resolved one way or another for the sake of my health!
  7. Is it just me that the link is no longer working for? Please dont let this be a bad omen...
  8. according to Sky Sports News he is close to a deal at Hull for around 20k a week
  9. slightly off topic i know, but went to goodison with a toffee supporting housemate not long back, and was extremely impressed by Jack Rodwell, they say he's a centre-half, but looks to be wasted there, he is so composed and in control on the ball seems unfazed by everything. have a feeling he is a big player for the future, though i have been wrong before
  10. alright sorry mate, just thought it seemed appropriate in this 11th hour
  11. As it reads really, what would you prefer?
  12. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm sounds about right

    Today?

So....once again, today is the day? Sound familiar? Yeah thought i had heard it before as well?...maybe everyday for what seems forever? Anyone reckon there is anychance? Being a saints fan im just far too cynical to think there is any...lets pray to (le)god im wrong!
  14. Not sure if it has been said, but Dean Bowditch is available? Decent and still youngish, always seemed to have a decent attitude just been unlucky with injury, scored goals at championship level could help bang in a few in League 1 i reckon
  15. because they can? is that not the long and short of it? Abramovich has got two ent he?
  16. my word, what are you on? i know let's get rid of teachers and schools, then lets see how your kids turn out? probably just like you by the sounds of it!! people need schooling, and for schools to work they need teachers, this is expensive, get over it! i dont know about anyone else, but with the amount of health and safety regs, and all the guidelines on the procedures a teachers has to follow to step foot into a classroom, i would hardly describe taking a bunch of unruly junior school kids abroad for a week as a jolly?
  17. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Haha ouch, i was at the game in the arsenal stand (my step-family are gooners) that was a killer, ****ing wigley, what a ****house ****-hole pikey appointment he was!! as said above nilsson played that day and had a SHOCKER!!! was at fault for RVP's goal and i have a feeling he gave away also, Henry missed though! ha arrogant *****...actually he can go on, although I seem to be the only person on the planet that cannot stand that arrogant arse - arsenal and arsene wenger were such a good match for him!
  19. Oh and Yakubu ofcourse
  20. Most Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea related: Sheringham, Sherwood, ROBBIE KEANE, Jermaine Defoe!!, Adebayor, Bent-ner, Drogba, Frank 'Lampsy' Lampard, Carvalho, Mikel, Malouda, Anelka (Club Whore!)
  21. This isnt a dig, but my word am i sick of hearing about 'this friday' or 'monday', how about today now! it is turning into a complete farce now, typical saints really! Tony seems a good lad, and anything that brings Le Tiss back to the club has my full backing...please lets get this done!!!
  22. Can we please not get all Sheffield United about the points deduction? If I have to hear that absolute **** Kevin McCabe banging on about Tevez and West Ham once more I will seriously be close to puncturing my own ear drums! Can we please just get a decision and move on. We need to focus on the future of the club so that we move forward and get us back to where we should be, certainly not league 1! Please let us not be going on about the points deduction in 3/4 years time if it is upheld
  23. so basically nothing has changed and no body knows anything?
  24. I have serious concerns for the mentality of people that genuinely think that Nick Griffin is a credible or serious political figure and leader, the even scarier fact is that most people who vote for his party don't even know who he is!
  25. Anyone else hear Richard Chorley on Sky Sports? Interesting stuff, absolutely spot on about lowe! Please let this be it, please!!
