  1. A rather damp but satisfying day out. I took the opportunity to visit Bletchley Park in the morning and joined the guided tour. I lived in Bletchley as a sprog and my old man was stationed there after the war so it was fascinating to see the place he worked - we were never allowed in at the time. I'd recommend this, it's £10 but that gives you free visits for the next 12 months and it needs more than one visit to do it justice. The site also contains the History of Computing Museum and the working replica of 'Colossus' is amazing. So to the match with a glimpse of the sun as I toured the MK National Roundabouts Collection en route to the ground. Good, a warm, sunny afternoon in prospect. Wrong!! Being an outdoor type, I was one of the 'fans of steel' who did not rush timidly for the back rows but was pretty soggy by the end, and I show up pretty well behind the goal on TV for Sir Rickie's third. One of those scrappy games yet we always seemed to be in control and, I thought, relaxed and confident. I felt we could go up a gear if required and the win was never in doubt. Dried out on the train to Euston, then got **** soaked again walking into the heavy drizzle along Marylebone Street to Paddington Station. Dried out for the second time with the aid of a monster pasty and coffee on Mr Brunel's concourse. Whilst munching i encountered a Swindon fan who was very complimentary about Saints and was still wondering how they managed to beat us last Tuesday. They, he explained, are in year 2 of a '5 year plan' to reach the Championship and have massively overachieved on their expectations this season. He actually expressed some consternation to the possibility of Town going up this season as they are not flush and have a massive amount of loan players who will all disappear at the end of this season. Fell asleep on the train and nearly ended up in Exeter. Got home, still no Wembley ticket yet! Any road up, Keep the Faith, COYS
  2. Just been on SSN.

  7. Congratulations, Sir. Most definitely a life well lived - here's to the next 79!
  8. You've just watched that thing of his on MOTD2 haven't you? Cringeworthy
  9. It must have shocked the Ref (and his assessor), when he booked a Leeds player in front of the Itchen mid way through the 2nd half (not Gradel), and even though we got the freekick, the anti-ref singing from Saints fans was deafening.
  10. Interesting bit about the wall next to the deVere Hotel with the US Army graffiti scratched in whilst waiting for D-Day/VD clinic! I walked right past that yesterday on my way back to the station after the match. Must take a closer look next time.
  11. Whilst looking for something else about Southampton's history, this large collection of randomness, centred loosely around Southampton Graffiti came up. All sorts in there. I've hardly looked at it myself, but a quick scan tells me i'll be back for more! http://www.divdev.fsnet.co.uk/graff.htm Towards the bottom, the great floods of 2006!!

  13. No, I agree with you totally. Very high pass completion rate, great control and vision in setting up the goal, and finally got the better of Kisnorbo in the 2nd half resulting in the Leeds man collecting a booking. He even chipped in with some good defensive clearances.
  14. 15th march http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/TicketNews/0,,10280~1973044,00.html
  15. A giant postbox is being constructed in the car park at SMS. The postman's going to need a bloody big sack!
  16. Say no more, Squire - eh? eh?
  17. We did actually win 4-2, not 3-2.
  18. Not perhaps the first choice that springs to mind in pre-match beverages?
  19. I expect there was quite a queue.
  20. I think he means anyone connected directly or indirectly with the dairy industry.
  21. Consistent. Now get back to work.
  22. Well said, Sir. I've only been on this forum for nearly a year or so and this 'argument' just goes on and on, round and round, with the same (by and large) contestants, but singularly fails to disappear up it's own arse. I wish it would.
  23. Well said, sir. I've lived all over the shop but still followed the mighty Saints. I'm now in a position to watch them regularly again, but that may change. Enjoy it however you can!
  24. Took it easy and stayed over in Birkenhead. Is there a more deader town in the western world after 7pm?, and where is the High Street ffs. Spent sunday morning mooching around the old docks and walked up to New Brighton, watching the ships comin' in and goin' out again, then 'Ferry cross the Maaaaiiiirrrzeee' back to Liverpool. An hour or two in the Maritime Museum and Art Galleries, then train back with a couple of pints at Birmingham New Street watching Chelsea on the box. I like to get me money's worth! Saints Play-off hopes? You decide.
