  1. Being pedantic (and I'm sure this is what you mean't) but the Milton Road wasn't one big terrace, it was two tier, with the upper tier, the one in the photo, being very steep. The Milton only became single tier when it was rebuilt as an all-seater. It was pretty miserable on that upper tier on wet and windy days.
  2. The Steeeeeeeevvvvvvvveeeeee chant after his goal was quality. What a dump Coventry is, shan't go back in a hurry. I liked the steep stands, gave a really good view. Shame the ground was half empty.
  3. Stood in the choccy boxes, watching Alan Ball constantly yelling instructions at the players around him? He gets the ball just in front of the Milton, the crowd is quiet and some bloke behind shouts at the top of his voice "now tell yerself what to do with it Alan". I think he may have heard because he had a big grin.
  4. 22points, happy with that!
  5. 6-1
  6. Got 5 this morning.
  7. When was the last time Saints were involved in a 1st vs 2nd match at home, in any division?
  8. Adkins to Lambert: will you tell Clough to zip up his fly or shall I?
  9. 'Greatest fans in the world' on SS2 right now. I guess they must all be stuck in traffic?

  13. The whole Waterfront development idea, combined with a larger stadium, could explain the backdrop to NC's commitment to Southampton FC. I have often wondered what is in it for him. Why would a succesful and (comparatively) wealthy Italian banker. choose to move himself and his family to the UK to run a mid-sized football team. However if he is able to develop a significant towncentre waterfront enterpise consisting of leisure, commercial and property, which is closely alighned to a successful well-run Premier league football team with a sizable stadium an excellent academy and training facilities, it will be worth a lot of money. Maybe at that point 5-7 years from now, the club and associated activities could be worth in excess of £100M, a profit of £90M for the Leibherrs. If he had negotiated himself a healthy percentage of any profit he could be in line for anwhere from £10M to £50M personal windfall whilst at the same time earning a healthy £600K/ year to do it. This is not in anyway an anti-NC post, because if he could achieve all these thing Southampton would end up a world-class footballing set-up, which I would be delighted with. It could explain his references to a larger stadium, despite uncertainty over the absolute necessity for it.

Just imagine if we could keep the points and goalscoring rates up, we would finish the season with 115 goals and 101 points! Phew.
  18. I have it in my head that Rosenthal used to score against us regularly, or am I just scarred forever by that 6-2 defeat.
  19. Everyone should pay for ticket. Everyone should grow up and STFU about it (including NC, MLT, posters on this forum and me) Can all these threads be combined into one? I'm ******ed off trawling through them trying to find other more interesting topics.
  20. I reckon it'll be home to Stoke reserves.
  21. This is an oversimplification of Jungs theory and ignores the idea of apparent causality where there isn't any. Either way it was a cracking goal.
  22. I agree with the sentiment, but not sure about the use of the word synchronicity. "An apparently meaningful coincidence in time of two or more similar events that are causally unrelated"
  23. I was 12 at the time and my dad (who isn't into football) took me up on the train. We were in a large section of Saints fans that were in the middle of the Forest end. It must have been a section they couldn't sell and gave back ( or there was a ticketing cock-up). The forest fans behind us starting spitting down on us and then climbed into our section. It got a bit scary. We left just before the final goal if I remember correctly, got accosted by some drunk forest fans who were trying to be friendly but were really p!ssed and they nicked my hat. The journey back on the tube was all Saints, but the doors kept opening as we were going through the tunnels, stopping the train. The whole experience was a bit full-on for my dad who hasn't been to a game since, I loved it and have been going for the last 32 years.
  24. What are the win/draw/lose stats in his first year? They must be impressive.
