  1. Very happy if we nail this one shut...
  2. Anybody who can make a silks purse out of a "Ben Arfa sows ear" has got to have something about him... Welcome Claude, You will find us a supportive bunch
  3. I have been working in Ireland for the past few days, and there was a snippet on RTE sports stating that both Us and West Ham have been interested in the Czech right back Pavel Kaderabek... Currently at Hoffenheim.. Right age and probably one of the Czech's better players in an otherwise mediocre side.
  4. I still would not object o Gary Rowett !!! He has certainly got great talent and to be honest I would far prefer him to any name mentioned on recent shortlists...
  5. From The Daily Mail... Southampton enquire about £12m Stuttgart winger Filip Kostic SIMON JONES: Southampton have held discussions over a move for Stuttgart winger Filip Kostic. The Serbia international is valued at £12million by the Bundesliga side who signed him from FC Groningen in 2014 for £4.75m. Liverpool are also among the clubs to have checked on Kostic this season while Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg and Schalke have also expressed an interest in the 23-year-old who plays on the left wing but is comfortable on the right or behind the striker. 6. ART has been around for years, he was a frequent poster on the old Saints Forever site.. Wacky yes, troll no !
  7. Agree, I don't find him very inspiring at all... if we are to have a lesser experienced or lesser named manager, then Gary Rowett would be a far better bet in my view.
  8. Good man Jimmy - An honourable gesture. All the charities mentioned above are worthy, but my personal one would be Liver and Pancreatic cancer - The same charity promoted at Kelvin's testimonial.
  9. I wouldn't be unhappy with that either should it happen... I think he would have better longevity than someone like De Boer who I am yet to be wholly convinced by as a manager.. Winning the Dutch league as Ajax manager is not a major accomplishment after all..
  10. De Boer seems a natural step forward - Maybe with Stam as his deputy..
  11. Welcomed by me.. Sound assessment there - I tend to err towards scenario number 2 as the primary, with a hint of option number 1 when RonKO saw that the jigsaw pieces were not falling right for him.. Of course we wish him well, but can we now have the next contender please..
  12. In a nutshell, this is what it is if any of these still unsubstantiated rumours are anywhere near correct ... RK has a huge affection for Saints of that I have no doubt, but it is clear he does want a crack at the Barcelona job and/or Holland, Arsenal or maybe one or two others... Everton are nowhere near his list of career moves and to be honest I think it is the ambition what motivates RonKo most, not necessarily the money.. An average season at an average Everton side is not necessarily going to rush Barca towards his door should their top job come up is it.
  13. That's a very good and measured piece of writing... I think we should have a poster of this article pinned outside SMS as a reminder to us all... Nobody is bigger than the club..
  14. Completely implausible.. Nothing official from any reliable source yet to base any such assertion, let alone grounds for legal action... All we can go on is the twitterati, which is about as reliable as a glass hammer.
  15. Mason does not play the deep lying, destroyer role, so I would not see him as a direct replacement for Vic anyway. I just happen to think that he has potential with the right coaching to play a decent AM position - As for the Forecast comment.. Come on give me a break !
  16. I'm still not wholly convinced that Vic will be leaving this summer. I would say his penchant for getting silly red cards will go against him in the eyes of some previous suitors. However if MoPo wants him, then I would be happy for him to leave at the right price, and if they wanted to include Mason as a part of the deal I would not object to that either.
  17. Vitality would be a good fit..
  18. As energetic as he is, Sanchez cannot pass wind let alone a football so I wouldn't take him. Agree Grealish needs to grow up and improve otherwise he will just melt away. Ruddy is just OK but I do think that Redmond has bags of potential that can be honed by a good coach, and I would not be unhappy to see him here. Only 1 year left on his contract with Norwich so should not be too pricey. Wijnaldum is indeed decent, but only on his day. I'm not sure if he is consistent enough and same goes for Perez. Townsend on the other hand - I would take him here in a heartbeat.
  19. Talking about Right Backs, I watched a couple of young, decent, promising (although a little rough around the edges) candidates over the weekend. Moses Odubajo from Hull and Cyrus Christie from Derby.. Both have pace and good going forward - Christie is of course likely to figure in the Euro's with Ireland. Both have work to do defensively, but who better than our own RonKo to teach them ! Thoughts?
  20. Were we not interested in Solly March before he got injured earlier in the season... A Brighton supporting mate of mine was raving about him and reckons they have missed him more than anyone during their run in. Wonder how the lads injury is coming along and whether we are still interested - Right age for us and a wide player with a good left foot.
  21. No his debut was late on in the previous season v Sheff Wed... Did'nt score but took some great corners...
  22. A real tryer who gave his all every minute he was in a Saints Shirt.. Good luck Brett
  23. WBA will be without Morrison, so Gardener and his hammer right foot is likely to play.. Olsson doubtful too apparently.. Just give the buggers no corners so they can't send up their herd of giraffes to threaten our goal... Otherwise we should have the pace and guile to beat this lot.
  24. I would have loved us to have nipped in before Leicester and got Kante.. Most impressive player I have seen this season.
  25. Oh God I remember that ! A 4-1 loss at home to Palace and I wondered who the hell the guy was - He played as though he had just been pulled out of the Itchen Stand 10 mins before KO, given a shirt and told to get out there and give it a lash!
