  1. What? What on Earth has JWP done to for you to say he is better than Cork? Maybe in a few years but but I've seen little from JWP other than a few decent set pieces so far. Morgan and Wanyama clearly stand out but Cork is an excellent player. Would get into most midfields in the PL apart from the very top teams imo.
  2. I feel so privileged to support this football club. Very fitting tribute to Markus.
  3. I don't think we do have £30M+ burning a hole in our pockets as it's not just transfer fees you have to take into consideration. The money raked in during the summer would also have gone towards paying wages, signing-on fees, paying for the training ground redevelopment and other outstanding debts. We may make one or two signings but I doubt we will spend silly money and I wouldn't want us to, just a couple of additions to add depth in certain areas but let's not rock the boat too much.
  4. Incredible. I keep waiting for the bubble to burst and it just isn't. Five points clear of third, wow. And ANOTHER clean sheet. Toby MOTM. Can't stop staring at the table.
  5. I wasn't born in 76. Yes I enjoyed Cardiff aside from the result, but even in the last ten years or so the importance of the cups has diminished a lot imo and I certainly don't get the same rush of adrenaline as when we win a league match.
  6. Yes I would, because personally I would get more enjoyment from the many good performances/results that a high league finish would bring than a few hours excitement of a cup win. I just don't get the same buzz with cup matches anymore.
  7. Totally agree, and that's why league is always more important than cup for me, it is a far greater barometer of actually how good a team you are. Personally I find it hard these days to get excited about cup games compared to league games but each to their own. Weird that some on here get so upset about people who prioritise league position.
  8. Agree, I remember a few games in the Championship around that time when the ground was really rocking. Shame it's not like that anymore, but shows what we are capable of.
  9. I'm in the Kingsland North and thought the Itchen were excellent yesterday while the Northam was very quiet. When the Itchen were singing non stop for about 20 mins we were really trying to get the Kingsland N/Northam to join in but no one seemed interested. Even more disappointing as the team really needed us in that second half. Would love to get back to the good old days before the Itchen corner was closed, we had one of the better atmospheres in the country then but it's never been the same since. Well done the Itchen yesterday though.
  10. Little Saints riding high in one of the most competitive leagues in the world might not mean much to you but it does to me. I realise we are unlikely to stay there which is why I want to see how long we can keep it going, as this season has been great fun so far.
  11. The league of course, we are sitting in third and I want us to stay there for as long as possible. I would be far more disappointed at losing today than in the cup game.
  12. Whilst not our best performance, we really weren't that bad, just unfortunate that Spurs played very well and wouldn't let us get into our stride. We had to lose at some point, sometimes you just have to give credit to the opposition. Shame we've now got two weeks to mull over a defeat.
  13. God I ****ing hate footballers. They need to try living in the real world.
  14. I actually thought he spoke pretty well. He couldn't have been more emphatic in saying Jay and Morgan WILL stay, and it seems there will be players incoming very soon. Would love to believe him, only time will tell. I'm angry at what has happened like most are, but I think some just want to criticise for the sake of it.
  15. I buy my season ticket to go and SUPPORT my team, through thick and thin. Obviously I want us to have quality players but I will support whoever pulls on the red and white stripes. It will actually be a relief to get back to watching games rather than reading about one departure after another on here. I am still gutted about what is happening though.
  16. Just feel drained by this summer now. Gutted.
  17. If only Cortese was still here, United wouldn't stand a chance.
  18. So you think if we told Lallana, Lovren etc they had to stay after seeing their mates move to top clubs they would be fine with that and not kick up a huge fuss? As good as these players are, if they don't want to be here then it's counter productive to keep them and have a poisonous atmosphere develop in the squad.
  19. Thing is it could only go one of two ways this summer. Either we held onto all our top players, or they all left. As soon as the first goes it creates a domino effect and the rest were always going to follow. Lovren is all but gone and I would be amazed if we kept Morgan. I don't like it any more than you, but I accept football has a food chain and once the top clubs come knocking on the door we had no realistic chance of keeping our best players. Sadly that's how football works and I think some are being very naive in thinking otherwise. I'll reserve judgement on the board until September 1st when we see exactly how we have replaced the outgoing players.
  20. Of course I realise not all are slagging him off just for leaving, but some are (Jackanory for example). And yes imo Lovren's comments are worse, the worst thing Adam said was some guff about dreaming of playing for Liverpool, I don't recall him slagging the club off in public whilst still an SFC employee.
  21. Ridiculous over reaction from some. If you can't understand that he moved to better his career whilst at his peak then there's no hope for some. I'm sure 99% of us would do the same. Sure he said one or two things that were ill-advised upon leaving, but do people truly believe he meant them? I take most things said by footballers with a pinch of salt and to me they were just cheap sound bites aimed at his new fanbase. I'd far rather remember him for the many good things he did for us and the loyalty he showed in the lower leagues. Save your bile for Lovren, whose comments are far more deserving of it imo.
  22. The players are leaving because they want to play Champions League football and be challenging for titles, something they cannot realistically achieve at Saints. Yes it's sad and it hurts, but unfortunately that's how things work in football. The board are doing their best in very difficult circumstances and while I'm hugely disappointed myself, I at least have confidence in them and Koeman to get good fees and reinvest in the team as best as possible. At least wait and see who we bring in.
  23. Lambert coming to the end of his career. Ings is 21 and was the Championship Player of the Year last season, a bit better than 'okay'. For £8M he would be a sound investment imo.
