  1. I can't see Pompey escaping a points deduction next season. Surely the last thing the PL want is for Pompey to darken their door anytime soon. . . .
  2. Only 15 world titles as yet lol No one has dominated a sport or a game like Taylor has. I read somewhere he played well over 200 matches last year and won 97% of them. It's a shame the BBC pretends he doesn't exist, I don't know whether it's down to BDO loyalty or what but Taylor definitely deserves some honour. Not many people can dominate something for 20 years
  3. If Andronikou has said he's after Cotterill ,then yes it probably is a joke
  4. LOL Portugal held to a 0-0 draw by the Cape Verde Islands Isn't that where (ex-Saint) Pele came from?
  5. Who is mexico's number 17?
  6. when Rasiak scored that goal in the last minute of the play off semi final against Derby, not only coming back to haunt his old club but making a complete mockery of Burley's team selection. One touch, BANG - far corner, keeper no chance The pub I was in just exploded with noise
  7. I think a lot of the Labour party realise they need to distant themselves from the right wing 'New Labour'/Tories and go to the left, especially after how well the Lib Dems came across just before the election
  8. Didn't they think it was an unexploded mine from the Korean war at one point? A mine that would use very similar chemicals to a torpedo
  9. Hope the forum doesn't go into meltdown
  10. I thought I'd only posted about 40 or 50 posts on this thread but I'm now up to 222!
  11. If you click on the number in the replies column in the lounge it brings up how many posts each person has made in this thread. I didn't go through all 30,000 posts and make a tally (honest )
  12. seriously when this thread ends, I reckon the top poster should be given a prize The top 5 currently stand at nickh - 907 dubai_phil - 823 pedg - 717 Channon's Sideburns - 605 View From The Top - 514
  13. I remember at the last world cup it was said the Germans have hours and hours of footage of all the likely penalty takers in the world cup, which Kahn and Lehmann were given to study.
  14. They have had a couple of very good results in friendlies since. I believe they beat Germany away recently?
  15. Spain to win it Biggest surprise - Either Messi dragging Argentina into the Semi Finals/Final or North Korea getting into the knockout stages;)
  16. You don't get good at penalties by accident. The Germans are good at penalties because they practise them regularly from a very young age in the youth academies, the art of blasting a football accurately into one of 4 corners of the net/most unlikely place a keeper can save it has been mastered by them. Being good at penalties on the big stage is a skill, it aint down to luck If you practise something enough you will master it, and eventually you will be able to replicate it consistently 'on the big stage' even when overcome by nerves. In my humble opinion the notion that "penalties can't be practised because it's a whole new ball game in the big tournament" is complete ********.
  17. . . .which Burley did not do when managing Scotland. Instead he made the same mistakes as he did here, playerd players out of position, couldn't get them fit etc. etc. Not the time out of the game may do him a lot of good and he may well come back and have future success at a club, but I can't see it happening somehow
  18. BBC and ITV always have it don't they? I think the World Cup is one of the protected sporting events for terrestrial/freeview viewers
  19. Well they bought Etoo, Milito, Motta, Lucio, Sneijder and Pandev all in the 2009/2010 season. All key players and that comes to well over £30 million. So Inter did spend a lot of money on very good players (more than Chelsea by the way) which resulted in them winning the Champions League. So it's a very good example of spending money does go a long way to guaranteeing success Er 4th in the PL wasn't it? Largely through getting the best out of players such as Beattie, Marsden, Niemi etc. It's called negative ambition and achieving the bare minimum with one of the best squads in the league, and only achieving it because of other clubs failures near the end of the season. Sorry who thinks Redknapp was an excellent manager for us? He never wanted to be here and me and I'm sure the majority of fans don't look back on his reign with any satisfaction. Redknapp did a very poor job for us and I'm sure most people on here would agree. That was because Burley had a squad which was one of, if not the best in the Championship, a squad let down by a poor manager who rewarded mediocrity and insisted on changing a winning side. Burley's and Pardew's managerial situations are similar in the way they have one of the stronger teams in the division and are among the favourites for promotion Burley achieved 75 points from 46 games when he got us to the play offs, Pardew last season achieved 73 points from 46 games. In other words saints under Pardew finished the season with just 2 points less than Burley did WITH A 10 POINT DEDUCTION. and that was without the luxury of 6 months in charge the previous season like Burley had. Pardew has been 'very good' so far. Burley was 'very mediocre' at best
  20. Plus Pompey's financial troubles accelerated wildly when Gaydamak Snr had his assets (ie blood money) frozen, something which even Storrie has openly admitted contributed greatly to their current situation
  21. Nickh, most of the time all the media is doing is basically reporting what AA is saying. And most of the time what AA says is complete crap. AA could say tomorrow they are close to agreeing terms to signing Riquelme and most of the papers would swallow it up and print it just for reasons of sensationalism. All we have been hearing from Grant and AA in recent months is PR, which the media feeds off. Whether it has anything to do with reality is quite another matter.
  22. Bad result for Cardiff, their in big financial trouble now
  23. and that's if the FL even let them in the Championship. I believe it's only AA that's said they can liquidate the current company and start again in the Championship next year and we all know how reliable he is:rolleyes:
  24. he has a wireless internet connection, got a feeling this could be affecting the speed
  25. weird thing is it is only jerky on special ops and never on multiplayer
