  1. god only knows what you'd have called a 3-0 defeat
  2. I think Nigel Atkinson will do well there, and it's just the job he's looking for.
  3. This is really is a sign of the times
  4. COYwhatevercolourwe'replayingin
  5. Ah yes the days of the Wilde Worshippers, the people who when faced with anyone questioning Wilde immediately labelled them as 'Lowe Luvvies'. Have to say some of those takeover threads back in the day did make the darkest days of the club just about bearable at times. I swear there were some people genuinely tracking Paul Allen's yacht
  6. I think something like this is worth doing, and perhaps do this by being able to flag individual posts which contain trolling/petty insults etc. and provide nothing constructive to the debate. Then when a user's posts get flagged a certain number of times from different people they get repercussions, or there may even be a way where a mod is alerted and get a quick link where they can see the recent posts made by that user and quickly decide if it's worth taking action. There are a number of posters on here (CB Fry and Roger are two examples but their not the only ones by any means) who have recently been the epitome of why this board has gone downhill in recent years. Back in the day they actually contributed constructive debate to this forum and helped make threads interesting, where now pretty much every thread I view that either of them have posted in they've resorted to patronising and/or name-calling anyone who disagrees with them. Threads then quickly descend into slanging matches and the original topic gets lost. Further aggravated where people type swear words in a certain way to get round the swear filter as if this emphasises their point, it just becomes ridiculously pathetic. Sure you can put people on your "ignore list" but when entire threads get hijacked this becomes completely void, because the vast majority of people won't have them on ignore, and there's always someone who will try and argue with them. I do sympathise with the mods and have seen occasions where they have warned someone about the manner in which their posting but can every post in every thread be covered by the mods? I think this could be useful tool for the mods.
  7. So we finally have "The Cult of Cortese" (Coc) It's taken just under 3 and a half years for this board to have a Cortese version of the Lowe Luvvies. The narrow minded label which in time will be bestowed on anyone who agrees with just one of Nicola Cortese's policies. (If the Lowe Luvvie label is anything to go by) I'm amazed it's taken nearly 3 and a half years TBH
  8. No they won't, the outcome's far too neat in the long-term. I'd be very surprised if the police pressed charges, and even if they did the bystanders would be likely to get off on a technicality. The absolute worst any of the bystanders would get is a suspended sentence. That's assuming that there isn't more to the case that meets the eye and it is what it appears. Quite ironic if he died of asphyxia when he was wearing a gas mask though.
  9. since their back to back to wins in October they've got 3 points from a possible 42. I'm starting to think Appy didn't do that bad a job considering.
  10. TBH the bloody awful goalkeepers are one reason why I watch the tournament
  11. Meanwhile the Burkina Faso goalkeeper gets sent off after deciding to pick the ball up 3 yards outside his penalty area, 5 minutes after trying to dribble it round a Ethiopian striker who so nearly intercepted it. Not quite as ridiculous as the Ethiopian keeper getting sent off the other day for doing a kung fu kick on a Zambian striker but rather amusing all the same.
  12. Mayuka's got previous for scoring on awful pitches http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyFG_9faEDM
  13. The triangle, badly
  14. Ultimately pro, and that's due to how far the club has come since he came in. There are things he has done which I haven't agreed with let's say (the way he treated Adkins is the big one) but overall you can't argue with his record since taking us over. The appointment of MP will be a big factor for the remainder of the season.
  15. It's why I spend far less time on the main board than I used to. Far too many threads just end up with individuals having arguments and nit-picking on something someone was supposed to have or have not said when it's largely irrelevant anyway.
  16. (yawn) You're both right
  17. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4muHvfBXdAU Here's the kung fu kick from the Ethiopian keeper. He must have broken his leg doing that. Yaya Toure's has also just been on the receiving end of a scandalous tackle in the Ivory Coast-Togo game
  18. I would find it funny if McMillan, Chorley and any of the other two people in SISA did it and absolutely no-one took a blind bit of notice.
  19. Came on in the last 5 mins against Ethiopia. Didn't do a lot - he made one run forward and fell over, he got himself into a good position and received a through ball deep in the area only to be judged marginally offside, and received a long ball, did the Ethiopian defender with ease and over-hit his cross badly And that was about it.
  20. LOL you wait til they bring the communications data bill in. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-20677850 In all seriousness they are perfectly entitled to do it because you've posted it in the public domain and Google is a powerful tool my friend. As someone above has said their probably contacting you more out of concern than out of anything else so don't worry about it. It's interesting that Northern have felt the need to pass it on to Grampian - it's possible that someone at Northern didn't think much of how you were treated from your description and some digging is occurring on the search itself and the officers involved. Just to confirm, this had nothing to do with me and I have no links to anyone at Northern or Grampian. This was the original thread. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?42150-Heavy-Handed-Northern-Constabulary-Any-Lawyers-on-here&highlight=aberdeen
  21. LOL As a successful banker/chief exec/football club chairman I'd be more worried if Cortese DIDN'T have an ego problem He's one hell of a determined person to get what he wants and he certainly isn't afraid to upset people to do it. It certainly took balls to sack Adkins even if it does turn out to be footballing suicide. The way he treated Adkins will forever be a big negative for me but the club has made amazing progress during his time here. The decision to sack Adkins was massive and there's no doubting it'll be a big part of his legacy here, regardless of whether it is successful or not.
  22. Ghana vs DR Congo just kicked off If DR Congo score watch out for their keeper Robert Kidiaba's trademark celebration
  23. Indeed and after two goalless draws I think we'll have a reminder of one reason why this tournament is so great. Here's a few clips that I've collated over the years of some of the worst ever goalkeeping that has braced the AFCON. And these are only the clips I could find! If you thought Davis and Gazzaniga are bad you ain't seen nothing yet. 0:26 to 1:12 & 1:56 to 2:22 0:26 to 1:14 & 2:17 to 3:18 0:50 onwards 1:02 to 1:18 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnV2UJx1olw 0:41 onwards 0:28 to 1:20 & 2:40 to 3:48
  24. Ah, the days of Richard Chorley's OPEN LETTERS!!!!
  25. The poll asked in the other thread was asking whether it was the right decision to get rid of NA, but that's not the subject the original post was about. Was getting rid of Adkins the wrong decision? Yes, I believe it's one of the most farcical sackings in PL history and feel incredibly sorry for NA who will now be a club legend in my eyes Do I want to move on from this and support the team? Yes, because I believe wallowing in self pity and thinking if I hate Cortese enough it'll bring NA back is ultimately a waste of time.
