Le Tissier: "Cortese is not a nice human being"
JackFrost replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I think the biggest losers are those crawling up the Arris of our greatest ever player and mocking the opinions of our football CEO But hey, football is all about passion, romance and wa nking over the footballing legends. You've really captured the true meaning of this sport, sorry, Leisure Business, that we all love. Shame. See what I did there? . . . You're criticising people supposedly on the extreme of one side when you seem to be on the extreme of the other side yourself. Personally I just wish MLT and Cortese would just shake each others hands in public and get on with their lives. MLT is our greatest ever player and a club legend but that doesn't mean the things he does and says are right 100% of the time. Frankly when it comes to Cortese he needs to let it go. As for Cortese MLT may be entirely right that he isn't a nice human being but hello?? he is a very rich and successful banker. At the end of the day we've gone up two divisions under Cortese is he's doing something right. If the club's success continues and Cortese has to upset a few people in the meantime to achieve this then quite frankly I couldn't give a toss. -

Does MLT not read the news? You don't become a banker as successful as Cortese by being a nice person. Bankers/entrepreneurs/politicians etc. all have arrogance and certainly aren't afraid to upset people. I certainly wasn't when I had to when I was a D.I. (unless I was chatting to the Super) MLT was and always will be a legend for us when it came to the football pitch but the constant snipes at Cortese are tainting his legacy. We've gone up 2 divisions under Cortese so he's doing something right. MLT really needs to just put up or shut up, and move on. -
African Cup of Nations my friend http://soccernet.espn.go.com/match?id=285629&cc=5739 That is the only time I've seen a team come from 4-0 down after 78 mins and 4-1 down after 87 mins to draw 4-4 at any level. As for the Germany-Sweden game it sounded like an absolute belter. Especially with Germany being one of the best sides to "complete the job" and Sweden being a side that nearly lost to the Faroe Islands the other week.

No attempts to even get the standing water off the pitch, their simply not bothering. It's absolutely waterlogged, there's no way any game would go ahead in these conditions, (unless it was being played in the African Cup of Nations)

Looks like the England-Poland game is going to be postponed tonight due to a waterlogged pitch. The rain is still torrential. The national stadium in Warsaw has a roof but the Polish team chose not to have it closed for tonight. Oops.

If that's been the case since they went into admin on 17th February I make PKF's fees to be currently 2.16 million and counting

yep. I think it was Clive Tyldsley the commentator who at 4-0 questioned how many a team like Spain or Germany would knock past San Marino compared to us. Well I can tell him that San Marino in the last few years have been beaten 11-0 by the Netherlands and 13-0 by Germany. We were all too predictable and whenever we play a side in which we dominate possession we never know what to do with it and it's one of the areas where we are an absolute mile behind the likes of Germany, Spain and the South American sides. 4-5 years ago I seem to remember Andorra holding out for around the 55 min when we had McClaren in charge. But for a group of pub players and 1 pro who plays in the Italian equivalent of League 2 to hold out for 35 mins in front of 90,000 people (3 times San Marino's entire population) is quite an achievement. If their keeper hadn't have had that moment of madness it would have been longer but considering the gulf in class I thought they played well. I can see the argument for having a pre-qualifying stage for say the 8 lowest ranked European sides before the group stage but at the end of the day if the tiny countries want to try to compete there is no reason why they shouldn't. If nothing else it is a wonderful experience for their players.

Do we even know what our strongest defensive line up is at the moment? Is it Clyne-Yoshida-Fonte-Richardson or Fox-Yoshida-Fonte-Clyne I think Boruc will make a big difference as well IMO
-
Considering their ability and only having one professional player in their entire talent pool I think the San Marinese played pretty well in the first half. Unfortunately however it looks like being a 109th defeat in 113 games for them

Who Is The Worst Company you Have Had The Misfortune To Have To Deal With
JackFrost replied to Gemmel's topic in The Lounge
The jobcentre have just stopped my mate's jobseekers allowance as he is unwilling to give up his college course (that he's spent £1000 of his own money on and started of his own volition), because it is apparently too much of a hindrance for him to find full-time work, even though he is still actively looking for and applying for full and part-time work (including jobs which are exclusively night shifts). So if your on JA, whatever you do don't try and advance your career. -

The only authorities that have any legal basis to fine you are the police and local councils. -
I think it's as much as the authorities failure to spot it as much as the drugs cheats themselves that makes this all so scandalous. Anyone hear that guy being interviewed on BBC News 24 this morning? I think he was in charge of the whole doping investigation. BBC reporter "How could something like this happen for so long?" "If I could answer that question I would be the happiest man alive, I just hope I will wake up one day and hope it is all a dream"

In the same way that Nick Griffin genuinely believes that what the BNP stand for is for the good of this country. Thankfully in this and the aforementioned case of the Taliban the vast majority totally disagree and wholly condemn what they do. It's the delusional mentality of the extremist opinion regardless of what religion/political opinion/etc. they believe in. They pick and choose what they want to believe to suit their own agenda and willfully ignore commandments/cast-in-stone facts that oppose this. In the Taliban's case we'll start with the fact that violence or inflicting harm to any living creature is strictly forbidden, as for the BNP we all saw a demonstration of Griffin's highly selective memory on his QT appearance.

hope they can reproduce this form in the league

None do. The problem are the extremists who pick and choose which parts of the religion they want to follow and twist it to suit their own bloodthirsty conquests and agendas.

Well our next game isn't for two weeks so surely they'd have got Boruc fit. I think our defence is ok when we're concentrating but as Lawro was saying on MOTD we are just too prone to switching off and making stupid mistakes as a unit. With Boruc being a fairly outspoken character I'm hoping they'll be less prone to do this with him in goal
-
Gazzaniga has already shown he is simply a better keeper than KD. He's at least as good as KD at shot stopping and is far better at coming off his line and at distributing. I'd expect Boruc to be our number one when fully fit and ASAP IMO. He is an experienced head and I'm hoping that he will help give the defence some confidence and provide some leadership at the back. We need to get Boruc in the team ASAP but Gazzaniga has already proven he is a very able backup and hopefully will be us for a long time.

With respect, the way you perceive the actions of the alleged victims is ignorant, to put it mildly.
