Then you're either too young to remember or have forgotten where women stood in society in the 1970s. There was a lot of accepted gender inequality even as recently as then. It was only in the '70s it was made a legal requirement for women to paid the same as men, universities could legally ban women from enrolling just because they were women, the sex discrimination act didn't even exist until 1975 and women couldn't even raise a court order against violent male partners until 1976. Most establishments were completely dominated by males and and if such an allegation was raised against a male star like Savile, not only wouldn't the women be taken seriously, I wouldn't mind betting they risked losing their job as well. When it came to gender equality the 70s and 80s were a completely different world to now. Ask Ann Widdecombe what obstacles she had to overcome when getting into local politics in the '70s and you'll understand why she felt so sick when a lot of the 'Blair babes' got fast-tracked 20 years later. Anyway the Savile rumours have been around for a very long time, and right now it isn't just 1 or 2 people coming forward to earn a quick buck. . .

I just wonder how many computer keyboards rallyboy has indirectly destroyed in the last few years

San Marino won't even be a contest considering they only have two full time professional football players in their entire talent pool. They'll beat Poland in the typical unconvincing performance. But their competitive games so it'll mean no Lallana/Lambert. The replica shirts have got to be sold. . .

They've offically signed Buszaky. Funny that, Championship sides were after him not so long ago

When we started this season, what exactly were you expecting?
JackFrost replied to Legod Third Coming's topic in The Saints
Apart from Wigan it has gone as I expected. Our defence is a concern but as we start facing teams that aren't in the top 6 with regularity we'll start to pick up more points. -
Indeed, how dare they not get any Fergie time?

This whole teacher running off with a pupil thing
JackFrost replied to Turkish's topic in The Lounge
about 10-12 years ago I charged and convicted a teacher from a school near Portsmouth after they slept with an underage pupil. -
But what they're forgetting is that Chainrai can move the goalposts when and where he can. I noticed the news stand outside the local corner shops round here have the headline "Appleton admired by rival managers" on them. God knows what their on about. "Admired" because he's done such a poor job and Pompey can't afford to get rid of him?

Boa Morte is 35 now and Buszaky has apparently had offers from Forest and Bristol City. Expect them both to sign for pompey very soon

Oh you'd be amazed by the sheer stupidity of people from all corners of society when it comes to a worrying amount of crime. After a while I suppose I just got used to it when I was in the force. Only the other day was I walking past my local shop when a bloke parks his almost-new BMW M5 in the parking space a few yards from a group of teenagers. He leaves his keys in the ignition, doesn't even turn the engine off and goes inside the store If the kids hadn't been there I'd have been tempted to get in and park it round the corner just to teach him a lesson. Anyway the McCanns left their kids unsupervised and from experience I suspect they'll have to live with the consequences for the rest of their lives. I'd be very surprised if she was ever found now.

I thought plebs was that midfielder who played for Arsenal a few years ago

I've actually been in Nottingham the last couple of days to see an ex-Superintendent I worked under years ago. He's been a Notts County ST holder since he retired and he got me a ticket for today's game. I did spend half the game asking his son to check his android alien thing for a Saints-Villa score update but saw most of it. If anyone on here is still worried that Pompey might get promoted this year, relax. They did try, but they were absolutely AWFUL. In their best period they kept County at bay in midfield and any attack they had resorted in a long range shot. They created one half decent chance in the entire match. County didn't play well and gave it away a lot but they easily had enough. Based on that I'd be amazed if Pompey stayed up, 10 point deduction or not. The match was like a Conference South side trying to stifle a League 1 side in the FA cup. Speaking of the FA Cup, I am PRAYING we draw them this season after that.

I think we've seen Kelvin Davis play his last game for Saints. .
-
True, but it appears it's far from being the only job he hasn't been able to cope with
-
If that happened it would take the Pompey takeover thread to a new level

Same old rumours again. No smoke without fire unfortunately

Funnily enough one of my skate friends saw this quote. Even he admitted it made Cotterill look realistic

Swindon with 72% of possession after 20 mins. . .

It's all Lowe's fault

He's going to be 36 a week Saturday

They must have hired some guy who used to be North Korea's head of propaganda.

I think KD definitely deserved a final chance in the PL because he has been a fantastic servant for us but it is becoming evident that he simply isn't good enough. The free kick and their 4th I don't actually think he was at fault for, I think the free kick had deceiving pace and the wicked deflection off Clyne would have wrong footed anyone, but at this level he has always been unconvincing at best. However I do think it has been a baptism of fire for KD and he will get better over the next few games. But it's the same old problems, his inability to come off his line to any degree and his distribution. Their third goal yesterday, I 'd have thought it'd be basic practise to come out a couple of yards/make yourself big to cover the angle as Gervinho shot. But he didn't. He pretty much stood there like a lemon and sat on his arse. For their 5th it was almost the same story but the shot came off the post and the rebound was put in. We have to look at a loan GK in January - someone who can dominate his area and give the defence some confidence, Pantilimon from City?

Get in. This means we're guaranteed to stay up.

Cricket has to be the number one for me. Followed by Basketball. I've just never 'got' the fascination with them. Also I am a big fan of Rugby Union but just cannot get into Rugby League at all despite numerous attempts. I totally agree with Lighthouse re: American Football. If they didn't keep stopping I would find it exciting. I can only get into golf unless I watch the whole tournament, it must be a kind of meditative thing. As for darts, I am a huge fan but I can totally see why people can't get into it/find it boring. I always think you have to have a certain 'thing' about it, a certain obsession with it to really into darts.
