Really? You said about a month ago our promotion chances were hanging by a thread
-
This is the other thing, the last thing the PL want is for Pompey to go back up again. They were and still will be a complete embarrassment to the PL brand. Even if they did manage to sneak into the play-offs I bet words will be exchanged behind closed doors and the FL will come up with some points deduction and use Storrie's tax case as an excuse. And if Storrie is found guilty and Pompey get a points deduction that sends them down to League 1 then I will start the petition to give Peter Storrie the freedom of the city of Southampton

So that's 6 wins/clean sheets in a row, they really have got a second wind. Fortunately Leeds and Burnley both won as well so they haven't really closed the gap

I'll never complain about alpine moaning on a match thread again

Colchester down to 10 men! icing on the cake

4-5 of those were under Wilkins

7 points off the play-offs with 12 games to go, and their next games are Sheffield Utd (23rd) Bristol City (17th) Middlesbrough (20th) Leicester (7th) Reading (10th) Preston (24th) Coventry (18th) On current form they could get right back in it. 5 of their next 7 teams are near the bottom of the league and the other two are fellow play off chasers. I certainly wouldn't rule them out just yet

Another forum i post on has a flower themed swear filter, so people end up calling each other "stupid chrysanthemums" "bloody tulips" etc.etc. It does add to the amusement on there. We could have something like that except instead of a flower theme, have a Pompey player theme

Did you actually think i was being serious? (re Fergie) My annoyance is with people who start threads about "who shall we get in as our new manager" after a new manager been here 4 and a half months and has a few disappointing results despite the club being well in amongst the promotion race. The very fact people are even starting threads like this when Adkins has a record of P30 W17 D6 L7 after 4 and a half months is ludicrous Besides, you don't start threads asking who shall we get in as our new manager when your happy for the current manager to stay. We haven't got to the next stage yet as you've just illustrated but a couple more losses from now until the end of the season it won't be long on current indications
-
I don't know why some posters don't go the whole hog and demand Fergie to be brought in as Man U lost a game last night and surely that'll mean he'll be shortly available.
-
quite, and soon as we bring in eg. Di Matteo and he loses a couple of games then we'll be discussing another potential manager and so on and so on. Even if we had won 45 out of our 46 games this season and lost 1 there would still be people calling for NA's head
-
I'm surprised it wasn't sent months ago. I hardly ever bother coming on here during matches now. And after almost every single match it's proved I've saved myself a lot of time
-
If we got in a new manager and they lost their first game we'd get a thread like this. If some people on this forum were our chairman we'd get through 20+ managers in a season
-
There is a vague likeness but it's nothing more than publicity seeking guff from the Iranians. Even if they did boycott the only countries that would notice would be Indonesia and Iraq. (For the opening ceremony)
-
Half of this season's losses must have come under wilkins
-
maybe he's considering buying one of the sides and evaluating how Riquelme would fit into it

The day an ordinary man applied for a Premier League job

LOL at Gibson's response. -
when you say points deduction I assume your referring to Storrie's tax evasion case. Even if he's found guilty I wouldn't be surprised if the FL did the square root of bugger all with regards to a points deduction. You can hold the Luton etc. examples up but with Pompey there seems to be too many skeletons in too many closets. As for running the club on the parachute payments, if they have splurged all 3 years worth on running the club/wages I don't get why Chainrai hasn't put the parachute payments in his back pocket and chucked the carcass on the heap. I can see why he would stay to get his mitts on all the income, but the income seems to be going straight into the player's pay packets. I am puzzled as to why Chainrai is still bankrolling them.
-
so they'll have used all the TV/parachute money by the end of this season? cor dear Assuming they don't go up it looks like this summer is where reality might start to bite for them, although that's assuming there is no more money for Chainrai to pocket otherwise I'll expect Nugent et al will be offered contract extensions
-
Next 12 days they play 4 games, all against team below them. They could in theory get right back in it, but their so inconsistent it's a tall order, especially with their squad size

Tragic news, RIP Dean. He was mis-diagnosed with an inner ear infection when he actually had cancer and had to give up the game because of it. Only 36 though, what sad news. I sincerely hope there is a tribute in the Saints game, he was one of our best defenders of the time. I believe he still is 2nd only to Curits Davies in the biggest transfer fee paid for an uncapped player?
