  1. So he wants to use us as a stepping stone to the England job ? The man is deluded. I'm sure if/when NC reads that any chance that Brown had will go bye bye
  2. Could you refresh my memory as to which games they were please ? Wilkins was at a different game than me. Anyone who failed to witness the complete lack of sense of urgency from the players with 20 minutes to go and two goals down must have been sat on the planet La La. They had just given up.
  3. Isn't Howe one of Redknapp's boys like Pulis and Cotterill ? One of those good old 'Arry puts his arm round and offers him advice....or am I doing him a dis-service ?
  4. You do not become successful and have the ear of a billionaire if you are a clown. You may not agree with the decision to sack AP, I dont personally but then again I dont know all the facts. Perhaps if they were known it would be a different feeling towards to whole thing. However, I tend to agree that if this was pre-planned we would have appointed a new manager by now. The fact we haven't and that Kelvin Davis has said NC told the players it could take a while leads me to suspect there is a lot more to this than meets the eye.
  5. I think thats a bit below the belt. Two weeks ago we were all moved by that story.
  6. Martin O'Neil is a pipe dream. Would be wonderful but i cant see it and honestly, why would he drop 2 divisions when in a couple of months time a Premiership job will come up somewhere. Tony Mowbray however is a real possibility. Not a shoe in for a Prem job and the challenge of taking us up two divisions is well within his capabilities. We would play football too. Connolly wouldnt have a crick in his neck watching the ball sail over his head for starters ;-)
  7. I would take Phil Brown to...............Southampton Airport with a one way ticket in his hand.
  8. Would love it to be right. Just in case it isnt ;-) I would be quite happy with Tony Mowbray. Plays good football and did a really good job with WBA. Not too sure how he would do in the Prem but he has the track record of getting there whilst playing good football.
  9. Only if they wanted to try out that new Sushi place in the food court !!
  10. I think what you need to consider is that many people are disgusted that a guy who they feel is doing a good job has been sacked for reasons that have not been made clear. Ok, it may be something whereby the nuts and bolts cannot be discussed but a statement a bit better than that thing the club issued Monday would have helped. Basically nobody knows why he has been sacked. So, if taken at face value, which quite often has to be done in lieu of further information, AP is sacked after a 4-0 victory away from home, following on from a season where we won a trophy and would have made the play-offs without the 10 point deduction. Wanting success quickly is one thing, and yes its a good thing, but there has to be a reality check thrown into the mix somewhere, and again at face value it hasn't. If me being outraged at AP's sacking makes me simple in your world then fine. If me being outraged at AP's sacking because I see it as un-necessary and a big mistake as well as being mean and petty towards a decent man who was doing a good job then tough, shoot me.
  11. If we dont overcome the might of Rochdale on Saturday even Cortese would have to seriously wonder if he has done the right thing. There will be a lot of unhappy people if we dont win.
  12. Really ? I think the stuffing has been knocked out of us over the last couple of days. Its the first time for years that I really couldnt be bothered to go tonight.
  13. I thought all decent pitches had crowns to help with natural drainage.
  14. Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I still think....no..... hope.....that Antonio is a deadline day deal !
  15. Steve Williams or David Armstrong
  16. Ostlund doesnt play anymore I believe.
  17. You seem to forget that whenever AP deemed fit to put him on he created mayhem in opposition defences and was always on hand, in the right position to poach a goal.
  18. If this is true how the hell have we got this guy ?
  19. Thats cos he was at St Marys ;-) Hardly ideal preparation spending the day before the game talking transfers !
  20. You are correct......only thing is I wouldnt use the words great and Puncheon in the same sentence. He is a backup to Lallana !
  21. Desperately need an impact player to come off the bench. Antonio unused sub again for Reading today and now most of their players are regaining fitness thats how its gonna stay. Getup to Reading, offer them a reasonable fee and get him back here FFS
  22. Dont care if it was Elvis Presley who took the project to him, I'm just thankful someone did. When you think of some of the, ahem, more shady characters that turn up at football clubs and run them I think Markus buying us was a god send.
  23. The other thing that makes me confident is that Cortese mentions the blue print they had/have for the club. I cannot believe that in order to realise that plan the necessary funds have not been put into place. A businessman as successful as Markus obviously was would not, I believe, have made no provision for the future and left it to his family to decide wether they would make money available should it be required. I would be surprised if funding is not in place to see us back to the Premiership within the five year plan. If we get back in that time I would imagine the club would then be expected to stand on its own two feet properly as the money is in the Premiership. If we do not make the Prem within the next 4 years then we may see a different approach. But as you say its all conjecture and opinion and none of us know for sure. We must continue to trust Nicola Cortese and the Liebherr family and I for one am happy to do that.
  24. I agree with most of your post but I cannot see where in that statement this suggestion is made to be honest. Trouble with reading between the lines is that you can often read too much or too little into things. There will be enough people dissecting this statement over the next couple of days instead of taking it at face value. The worry would have come if we had been soaked up into the MALI Group, but we haven't.
  25. I agree. The Liebherr family could easily have made an excuse not to travel to Southampton yesterday for the Memorial, they could have stated they were too upset etc. But they didn't - they turned up in numbers - if they didnt know it before they certainly know now just how much Markus was valued. I doesnt look to me like the actions of people who are about to cut the club adrift.
