Interesting that we are yet to hear all this crap about dodgy pitches this season !! I think this is the sort of game we were drawing or losing last year with AP trotting out a bad pitch excuse and the players convinced they couldnt play on anything that didnt resemble a bowling green !
-
We have already made substantial bids for players

I would be inclined to see if Reading will loan out Antonio for the rest of the season. He gets the odd 15-20 mins here and there for them but thats it. If he came here he would be the natural alternative to Chamberlain when the young man needs a rest etc. He would also play more here than he obviously is going to at Reading and therefore it would help his development. They would be happy, we would be happy and there would be no major fee involved getting in a player who we know can do a job at this level and maybe help push us over the finishing line. -
Liverpool should have more imprtant targets than a couple of young League One players in all honesty.

I agree, usually when teams who are succesfull rotate the one constant is the back four. It shouldn't matter today but its a dangerous ploy I think, the more a back four play together the better they are.

1. Yes he is as good and I think he is quicker. 2. He has good skill and trickery, he is not a one trick pony, ie knock it past the full back and go. 3. Only time will tell, I think at present he is better suited out wide. 4. Not sure 5. No way.

Absolutely. The far side was the problem area, the bit where the sun could not reach because of the stand. Unless they have a magic roll in roll out construction my guess is the stand doesn't move. Given that was there nobody at Charlton who couldnt have worked out that the area shaded from the sun and therefore icey would stay icey with temperatures not getting above zero and no sunshine on it to even give it a half a chance ? Its not rocket science and could have saved 2500 Saints fans plus all their own supporters a wasted journey.

Chaplow - signed a 2 and a half year deal - OFFICIAL

Unless he was sent off for Preston he has never had a red card in his pro career........but he does look a bit rash on accasion. Rather that than fannying about like some of our centrl midfielders so !! -

Now that Brian Laws has been sacked today if there was any truth in that hopefully it has gone away ! -
I would rather have Wooton come on as sub than Oscar Gobern to be honest.

Bloke behind me slagged him off when he shot then slagged him off when he passed instead of shooting !! I pointed out, rather helpfully I thought, that he had to do one or the other :-)

Sympathy is with all the saints fans who have made their way up there. Are they really saying they didnt know the sun wouldnt get to the side of the pitch that was iced over at 10 this morning ? The bloody stand that casts the shadow hasnt ever moved, surely some bright spark at Charlton must know that sun does not get to the whole pitch by lunchtime in December ? Ridiculous, no thought for travelling supporters as per bloody usual ! -

If its not fit to play at 1pm it aint gonna be much different by 1.15. This is all set up for a classic case of a team not fancying the conditions. Lets hope, if it goes ahead, that team will be Charlton !! -
never in a month of Sundays. Ridiculous.

Walsall Weather Watch / Build-up Thread - Game called off!

That would be very possible with this cold snap expected to last well into next week. -
Good luck to them, hope they get themselves promoted and back to where they were last year. They were well and truly dumped on with that double relegation and did far far less wrong than some other clubs we could think of who lead a charmed life !!!

Problem is IF Barnard has had the operation and is out for a month or so who the hell is going to score our goals ? We have a "choice" of Lambert, Guly and Connolly, possible Chamberlain up front ? Not screaming out "GOAL" is it ?
-
Interesting quote from NA on the OS - "The big blow is Lee Barnard. he's had two little things going wrong in the groin area, we were hoping to get one settled and the medical team have tried to do that, but we've had to go down another pathway..." That sounds very much like he has had to have a hernia operation to clear things up, failing that sounds like he will be out for a while anyway.

I think NC suggests that people are looking to hurt the club just when negotiations are starting to keep certain players here for the long term. Therefore people with agendas, such as agents, journalists after a "I told you first" scoop etc are out to stir the brown stuff. Its not just our club by the way. Any club that has money problems, a change in personnel, as in our case the owner passing away, any sign of weakness or damage to strong solid foundatuions are fed on by some like a bunch of bloody locusts.

I think, probably deliberately, you have missed the point. Up to this season, remember the Pompey game last year to prove it still existed, Season Ticket Holders had a period of time whereby they could secure their seat for Cup games. When all stands are open I wonder why this still does not apply ? The point is your seat has always been your seat for cup gmaes unless you chose not to go to the game or take that seat. The club has now taken away that small benefit and I think its a fair question to ask why.
-
Cant believe you cant buy your own seat for this game online. The previous two rounds I could understand but this is a premiership team in the 3rd round of the FA Cup FFS. I fail to understand the thinking behind it.

You could understand Portaloo then ?
