At 11.59 and 59 seconds on the final day before the plug is pulled on them a white knight on his steed.....or more likely a skate loving git in his caravan, will come rushing in and save them from toppling over the cliff. You can guarantee they will NOT be liquidated and go out of business, as has been mentioned its all brinkmanship and posturing.

He never looked happy there. All his humour in press conferences was missing, his body language wasn't like the Strachan we had. His idea of turning them into a decent team by buying half the Scottish premier league was always dodgy to say the least.

Well what a surprise, a lot of people on here wrote him off after what ? 5 mins at Bristol Rovers and a JPT game against Swindon where everybody was crap ! Talk about jumping the gun. Its clear to see that the guy has taken a little while to adapt to the different lifestyle in a country he has never been to before, and more importanatly he has had to get used to the speed and intensity of the English game. Yesterday showed signs that he has settled more and that he has picked up an understanding of how the English game works. His workrate was very good as was shown by his closing down and chasing a lost cause to get the ball back for the opening goal. He looked, to me, like he will be one hell of a player for us.......just hope the English winters dont disagree with him !

Think it speaks volumes when on the OS Adkins is saying he has only been here 3 and a half weeks and they are still assessing the players then Pulis is the first one sent out during the assessment period !!!
-
Thats correct, we did. Bale and Theo are the two i recall us cashing in when we didnt have a pot to urinate in !

He isn't going to come on TV and say much that will affect his prospects for getting another job is he ? If he was sacked because of off field issues and something he has done wrong he will keep quiet. If he was sacked because of NC and a clash of personalities he will not say because the NDA will mean he has harmed his pay off agreement.

No he didn't. Nobody has mentioned George Lawrence who came back from Oxford. Ivan Golac too.

In the last few years the picture is never taken at the start of the season. I assumed they always left it until the first week of September to allow for the transfer window. Of course this year something else happened close to the transfer window !
-
Bloody hell thats confidence for you !
-
I might have missed something here, it wouldn't be the first time, BUT as the transfer window shut at the end of August what exactly are we supposed to go out and buy to prove we aren't skint ? We can get in loans, we can get in unemployed players BUT surely Adkins needs to look and assess what he wants before we go out and get anyone......or have I totally missed the point ?

Very well said. Start winning a few games and this talk will go away again.

The only thing that annoys me and i really cannot understand is why virtually every home match we have to have a bloody geography lesson ! We're The Northam over ere We're The Itchen over ere. and on and on Yeah, we all know, whats the point, does it put the fear of God up the away support or do they just think "eh ?" I just fail to see what the point of that chant is.......some of the stuff sang from The Northam is very funny and quite clever. But that is just a waste of bloody time.

Maybe Adkins knows his Dad well or it was a pick me up for him as his grandmother had passed away earlier in the week - who knows ? The one thing that is for sure is that if he was any good at least one of the clubs he has been on loan at over the years would have wanted to extend the loan, have him back or buy him. None of which has happened. Its a creditable effort Professor to try and make a case for him, but really he has been very fortunate to still be a pro footballer at that age having played so few games. When you consider people like Chris Perry are without a club and yet he is picking up money each week for just training it beggars belief.

To be honest their goalkeeper could have sat on his goal line drinking tea and eating sandwiches in the first half. It was only the last 25 mins or so that we really started to put pressure on them.
-
I always liked Hammond last season and I couldnt see why some people were having a go at him. But **** me he was absolutely bloody useless today and hasn;t been that much better all season.

The reason that we aren't scoring......

Couldnt agree more. -
Saw the goals on SSN. Did you notice when the first one went in how they all turned a looked at each other with headshaking and pointing to each other going on ?

I suggest you take another look at the DVD of the JPT as just one example to show that clearly isn't a very balanced or accurate view. He's not fully fit and off form at the moment, it happens, but to say he is nothing more than a free kick taker ? No. -
I prefer his catch phrase to 'Arry's "f'sure" and Sturrock's "I'm sayin" Simple as that !!
-
Indeed. Difference this time was the coach only got three games whereas a couple of times in recent history they have got the bloody job full time !!
-
Deepest sympathy to you and your family Daren. May she rest in peace with all the other Saints up there.

What number shirt was he wearing out on the pitch when the players failed to score in the last three games yet let in 6 goals ? Did NC distract Puncheon last week when he missed from a yard out, did NC move the cross bar and posts when Barnard was so unlucky the other week ? Did Austin's shot deflect in off Cortese on Saturday ? We lost to Plymouth and drew at home to Orient under AP. i really cant see where there was much difference before and after AP's departure.
-
As Adkins likes playing fast, attacking football with two wide men I would suggest the first thing he needs to do is get a couple of wingers in on loan. Hopefully he will be able to get the best out of Puncheon and bring Chamberlain on steadily but surely, in the mean time I think the priorities that AP never addressed are still very relevant. 2 x wingers, back up for Rickie and a decent central midfielder to replace the increasingly disappointing Hammond. Easy really Nigel ;-)

those are fellow Saints fans you are talking about there !

My missus has only been to about 3 games in the 16 years we have been together/married. One of the three was the day Franny scored......she actually missed the goal - **** knows how - but she does realise the significance of being there that fateful day....even though she didnt actually see it :-)
