  1. If we get a half decent manager we will not see Mr Pulis Jnr very much at all one would hope
  2. I think its cos James is not as broad across the chest as Wootton. Still looks a lot better modelling it than BWP did the home kit a few years ago when his lack of shoulders produced a rather disturbing effect
  3. Yet on another thread you make a case for BWP ? Its all opinion I suppose but given the choice of the two (and I'm sure we will lose Saga soon enough) I would keep Saga every time. BWP - ok for 20 mins coming off the bench but asked to play the full game ? Forget it.
  4. He probably did deserve better, but I still maintain (and in no way would I ever defend RL) that had a decision been made on purely footballing reasons Dave Jones could and should have been sacked that season. We were awful until Hoddle came in. Now the child abuse case may have been a factor in that or it may not, we will never know, but in fairness I think, for the sake of the football club, Lowe did the right thing. I never thought i would read myself having said that...........
  5. Ok lets have some reality here..... put yourself in ML's shoes for a minute - you have a personal wealth of 3 billion euros (i love telling everyone that ) you have a hugely successful business have you made that much money and got a business that makes millions by a - appointing the best man for whatever vacancy you are advertising b - appoint someone whose CV shows not one iota of success now lets think carefully.........................
  6. Given the presence of the yoof at the back in the left hand corner singing throughout just about any bloody thing as long as they could get the f or c word in it was probably just as well !! Noticed the Police filming them mid way through the second half too !
  7. Isn't it true he only got the Pompey job cos 'arry told them he would be good....and they didnt have a clue who to go for, especially given it was well known that the money had run out....hence 'arry doing a runner to Spurs. So he probably doesnt interview very well anyhow.
  8. I am POSITIVE he would be no good for Southampton Football Club. I am POSITIVE he will not be the next manager of Southampton Football Club.
  9. Think we had the ambition beat out of us over the last 4 years or so dont you ?
  10. Perhaps I am being a bit simple here but given we are a League One side and have slipped so far from the elite of Premiership its untrue, how many people do you suppose are actually actively betting on the identity of the next manager of Southampton FC ? Who outside of Hampshire and parts of Wilts, Dorset and W. Sussex are going to give a monkeys about who it is ? I bet if 100 of us all put £1 on, say Hoddle, his odds would come tumbling down like a house built of playing cards. The betting means nothing.....we arent Man Utd - there are not countrywide bets going on us honestly.
  11. you've got that right, it is totally ridiculous.
  12. Thank goodness for that
  13. well on todays evidence - Shone - no, Mills was ok as was Patterson Sucked - Lancashire, Rasiak, Lallana.
  14. Well I have just got back, living in Bournemouth, and i have to tell you...... oh dear, there is a serious amount of work to be done, an awful lot of players need to be bought in, and a new manager with a bit about him to get the best out of what we have. The only good points were - Mills at left back looked useful, Patterson when he came on looked busy...then I am struggling. The bad points were - Lancashire is still as slow as before, Rasiak didnt seem interested, Lallana was...umm....**** ****in poor, there i said it. Still its only a friendly, presumably a fitness thing and next saturday against Ajax we will begin to see the team take shape I hope. But we are gonna need 5 or 6 players I reckon.

  16. He will not appoint Adams. Even on the off chance he was considering it if he reads supporters opinions (as the Echo would like us to believe in their taking part credit in attracting him to SFC) he will soon gauge the reaction of fans.......far too sensible for that to happen. This aint the Lowe and Wilde roadshow ya know
  17. Its all very well saying "back to the real world" but the real world means you need a manager who knows this league and knows how to get out of it. The big name manager can be for the premiership if/when we get there. What would be the point of appointing a big name who has no clue about this level of English football ? And lets just think about this - we are excited cos we have a wealthy owner after years of crap BUT a big name manager will look and say to himslef "league one, minus 10 points, do i want to risk my reputation ? " Had we been Championship then yeah, fair enough, a big name may well see the bigger picture. But bottom of League 1 is a hell of a journey back to the big time...... 2 years minimum IF everything went right (getting into play offs this season and winning them) 2 years is a long long time in the life of a football manager.
  18. There is also Steve Cotterill you can add to that list !
  19. Tony Adams.........defensive coach - yes manager - no thankyou. Just bought my season ticket Mr Oldknow.......dont spoil it please
  20. Just phoned and got mine straight away plus the freebie Ajax ticket. For anyone who has gone up and got them in person are they in the form of a booklet again or have they gone back to the credit card style plastic variety ?
  21. My thats cheery !! Do you think watching some of our defending at corners will give him a heart attack then ?
  22. He did early part of the season before he got injured. I agree that he and McLaggon will do well for us in this league......if they get a game of course
  23. My boss is a Pompey fan and a bit of a wind up merchant. He has been unusually quiet today, none of his usual snide comments about Saints that are intended for me to hear. Of course it may have something to do with me tapping his Pompey mug as i left last night and saying "enjoy your moment in the sun, the road back to regain our place as top team in the South starts here" !!!
