  1. Quite agree, every team that does anything in this league, and I include avoiding relegation in that, has a couple of big, burly cloggers at the heart of their defence.
  2. Surely instead of getting all these midfield and strikers on loan the solution to our problem would be to scout round the premiership/championship and pick up 2 or 3 older (28 - 35) defenders who are experienced and know how to defend basics like corners and crosses !! Go with the boys in midfield and up front if thats what we have to do but have a solid back line that is experienced. Look at the difference Perry and Lucketti made at the end of last year. A decent centre half to go next to Perry or Killer and a couple of full backs. Who knows, it may just work......and i think it stands a better chance of working than the current line up in defence. There has to be clubs esp in the premiership who have older defenders who just dont get a game anymore. I am lost for words as to why JP.....or RL have a blind spot about the defending and full backs especially. Time to wise up, we can all see it, and so can every team we play !!
  3. Well he went on holiday to Jersey (guest of Wilde maybe ?) himself, it says so in his notes in the programme !
  4. I was going to say GB wont be in that job this time next year as he has bitten off more than he can chew. Having seen that vote of confidence quote I may change it to this time next month !!
  5. I think I have more chance of seeing an Elvis Presley comeback concert than seeing SFC taken over anytime soon !!
  6. Like several players currently in the first team Lancashire just is not ready IMHO. Of course the chance to bring them through gradually is not a step we seem to be able to take at present. Perhaps if our loans were experienced defenders it would help Lancashire and Mills etc to watch them in matches and learn in training..........unfortunately this does not appear to be the way the management, or chairman, want to take us !!
  7. Unfortunately the manager thinks McGoldrick is better than he actually is....as does the player himself. JP has jumped all over others when they have been poor by taking them off or leaving them out but it doesnt seem to apply with DM. Everything you say is 100% true.
  8. these boys are mainly 18 - 22.................how the hell can they be tired playing 2 games in a week ? do we work on players fitness and stamina ? you can just imagine WGS accepting that excuse cant you ?
  9. Could you explain to us how Rupert Lowe found Lallana ? Did he stand on a cold and wet touchline in a park in Bournemouth about 6 years ago and spot him personally then ?
  10. As long as the "top" isnt reached during January 1 - 31st 2009 !!!!
  11. Well it must have been me then but i thought for the first half hour the Norwich winger, Croft, absolutley roasted him everytime he had the ball. Having said that he looks more promising than James at right back.....but then again the kid isnt a right back yet still we persist !
  12. Nick Holmes, Mike Pickering (promotion year) and Manny Andruzewski (apologies for the spelling ! )
  13. He's going to Sheffield Utd according to the BBC website !
  14. Bloody hell, I had better lie down in a darkened room. This is the first time i have ever agreed with anything you have said !!! : - )
  15. Now that, if true, is really depressing. I bet we won more games in the period 1978 - 1988 than we did 1988 - 2008 too !
  16. The "shot" at the start of the second half, right in the middle of goal and under very little pressure summed him up for me. Will he be any good ? No.
  17. You cannot play in this league without recognised full backs. Playing with one midfield player on one side is risky enough but to play with two is madness. teams are sussing us out, attacking the wide open spaces left on the wings and getting crosses in where we have two smallish (Cork and Perry) centre halves who will regularly be beaten in the air. Every other team in this league have two hulking great centre halves.....we dont.....and we cant even help conceal that weakness with two recognised full backs. Its all a bit squeaky bum time at the back I'm afraid....and the reality is if Kelvin Davis, who I havent always rated, wasnt in such hot form at the moment we would have been hammered in at least 3 games this season.
  18. What a Grade A prize pillock you really are. Haven't people been banned from this forum for less than this ? Attack a thoroughly decent guy who is coping with a terminally ill mother - you **** Thats way way beyond disagreements about a game of football - lets get some perspective here please.
  19. Thats him, thanks.
  20. Yes thats right, remember how upset Martin O'Neil got when GB didnt play that full back we loaned from Villa.....whose name escapes me !
  21. Prem League rules........so the big boys dont get upset when they join the competition probably !!!
  22. He has already stated that whoever is still here when the window shuts will be added to the squad, so yeah presumably he will pick him. I think he would fit well into the system we play personally.
  23. See if Kevin Phillips had said somethinmg like that when he left instead of slagging us off he wouldn't have been given so much stick on Saturday so in turn he wouldn't have scored and we would have had our first point !!!!!!!................................ no ?...alright then : - )
  24. You are a prize pillock aren't you !
  25. Journalists dont give a stuff about any league that is not The Premiership so their opinion is, as someone said, based on league positions last year and wether any signings of note have been made during the summer. As we score badly on both counts its easy to see why we are tipped for the drop. I bet none of these "experts" were within a 50 mile radius of St Marys to witness the West Ham or Stoke games which lets face it have given a lot of us cause for optimism.
