  1. McCarthy is worse than Bazunu, he came in at the end of last season and conceded 17 in 6 games. His distribution is terrible, puts the defence under pressure and he’s forced into saves Bazunu would never even have to attempt. We concede more goals with McC in goal but whoever we play there won’t stand a fair chance until we sort out the tombola defence in front of him.
  2. Pardew’s team was bottom three at the start of October, even without the minus ten, then it all clicked. This is going to take time, judging our transfer business by results 15 hours after the window closes would be foolish.
  3. I'm actually slightly disappointed that our official account has even bothered to acknowledge one of these tw*ttish, non-event twitter accounts, which are becoming irritatingly numerous. @footyinsider247 isn't an actual inside source of football knowledge? Well f**k me, next you'll be saying that 23 year old hot and horny Jessica from that pop up ad. isn't really 2 miles away and desparate to meet me.
  4. I do, you should see all the sh*te that gets deleted.
  5. What’s strange is that people find tweets by random absolute nobodies on Twitter and share them as if they’re actually worth acknowledging.
  6. Christ alive, you gave me a heart attack bumping this thread. I thought he was coming back.
  7. We should have given it to one of those other players who’s been here for ages, is a good influence in the dressing room, was guaranteed to stay this window and not be replaced by a better player, like err… yeah that other guy.
  8. Cole Palmer gone for £42m. Man City’s academy might as well just be a Royal Mint printing press.
  9. Loch Ness Montella fits better linguistically but he looks more of a Drogba type player. Let’s stick with that.
  10. For the sake of making everything easier to read, Adams chat now moved to the Adams thread, Stewart split onto its own thread.
  11. Cracking name for the female guitarist in a country and western band.
  12. Actually you can have an eight year old diesel, live just outside London, have to pay it and be eligible for nothing.
  13. Piroe was available, affordable, is a proven striker at this level and knows Martin. He ticks every box, would have been willing to come here and yet it didn't happen. That can only mean that there's something more to it than what us internet dweebs are aware of. What that something could be is anyone's guess. Perhaps it was wage demands, perhaps we really are after better targets and thought he wasn't a priority, who knows. I've no doubt at all that we had the resources to push a deal through, if we really wanted to but we didn't, so I won't lose any sleep over it.
  14. For reference Elyounoussi has started all three of Copenhagen's CL games this season. I'm not sure this is the 'gotcha' that proves his worth, that you seem to think it is. https://www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=69537
  15. It’s amazing how many people seem completely oblivious to this point. So many comments on here and on other social media seem to be founded on the idea that if SR sell anything that’s not nailed down, don’t spend any money and spend the season fighting against relegation to L1, that they are somehow winning. As if it’s a big conspiracy, whereby they secretly want to drop out of the football league entirely but if they keep lying about it to the fans then somehow… profits? They clearly want success, which this season will constitute a playoff spot at the bare minimum. They’ve put their money where their mouth is in every window so far, even if many of the players they bought were questionable at best.
  16. Unless Stephens has done something like an achilles and will be out all season, I can't see there being a fifth CB. It'll be four (JS, JB, MH and possibly Wood) plus Charles in an emergency.
  17. The reason we have four players for two positions is to cover injuries, so I can’t see the JS situation changing much. It’ll be him, JB, MH and one more by the end of the window I reckon.
  18. Achoo?
  19. Money has never not been an issue for all but the richest clubs and I wasn’t expecting any big money signings at all. We’re in the Championship, £15m is ‘big money’ here.
  20. I don’t think he was ever really likely to stay, especially once Manning came in and effectively made him backup for a Championship team. Whether we like it or not, the likes of Bree and Larios are about the level we’re going to have for cover in that position. Even in the Premier League we only had the likes of Pied, Martina and Fox as cover.
  21. He's supposed to be in Saudi, he's just out of position.
  22. I would have thought that the Godfather of Soul would choose to haunt a better sound system than our sh*tty stadium PA, but I could be wrong.
  23. Fair play to Liverpool, this is a great performance with ten men away to Newcastle. The gravel chewer extraordinaire doesn’t look too happy about it though.
  24. We (many football clubs) have been playing ‘goal celebration music’ for decades now, this is nothing new. In the Burley seasons we used to play I feel good; I distinctly remember that because about a week after James Brown died, it randomly started playing on the PA, whilst the ball was in play. Anyway, if we’re going to play anything, I’ll hang my hat on Kernkraft 400, it’s a great tune and a proper stadium anthem. Not exactly American either, Zombie Nation are a German techno ensemble.
