I think what it ultimately comes down to is what we were predicting we’d get from Puel the following season, rather than what he had achieved the season he’d just managed. It’s all well and good saying he lost VvD and Fonte in the second half of the season but if that’s the future, then you’ve got to live with that. We haven’t missed out on anything with regards to Martin, as you said, the squad will still be away on holiday. Any deals with Swansea will be dependent on a price being negotiated with them, not how much they like us.
