Austin is as bad as Clasie when it come to being dragged off, knackered, after 70 minutes. MoPe clearly preferred bringing him on against tired defenders later in the game, rather than starting him and seeing him chase much fitter defenders around for 70 minutes.

He hasn't been consistently fit since he moved here. I agree, if he was fit he'd score goals and if I was a foot taller I'd be a Harlem Globetrotter. The 'Why' does matter, all that matters is how many you score.
  3. Conceding 3 in the final, plus 6 against Roma and 5 against Seville along the way. Nice going Dejan.

14 league goals in 2.5 years here seems to be 'knowing where the back of the net is' these days, whilst 2-3 goals a season is seen as acceptable by many and 6 goals in the Championship is seen as 'promising'. I don't get how the bar has been dropped quite so low. The likes of Pelle, Lambert, J Rod, Beattie and Pahars could all find 10-15 goals a season and were seen as being about our level. Why is it so hard to find a couple more like that.

The only one of those I'd actually choose to have in the squad in Gabbi.
  6. Nolan's post clearly said last season. Anyway, Long's days of achieving mediocrity are now in the past.
  7. It's been a reasonable campaign by England but will no doubt be looked back on with nostalgia and rose tinted spectacles. We've been comfortably beaten by the first decent side we've played if we're being honest. Still, no shame in what we've achieved, which is something after 2016, 2014, 2010 and 2008.
  8. He could have scored 5 times as many as Long and still be mediocre.
  9. There was that one guy who started a thread as a wind up but I don’t think anyone actually believed him.
  10. I'd take it to mean that a deal for FF is imminent and they are already fairly certain he's off. For a club so tight with money, there's no way we'd risk having both of them and McC on the wage bill. Welcome Angus. Never seen him play but most of the reviews seem positive.
  11. He’s never even played a first team game, it’s a bit much to be happy with him starting 6 in a row if Cédric gets injured.
  12. Good luck to him I guess. Didn't seem to have any attributes other than getting stuck in. Sort of an unfit Lee Cattermole, without the horrific tackles.
  13. Few? He played once, against the worst attack in the League. I don't get why the club gets any criticism over Caceres. He was brought in as cover and hadn't played a competitive match in about a year. If he had started instead of Stephens, a lot of people would be upset that we were giving game time to a short term stop-gap player instead of one of our academy prospects.
  14. Mental if you ask me. To think you could buy a 24 year old, then 9 years and 311 goals (taking wikipedia as being roughly accurate) later sell him for the same price is crazy. I know fees have inflated massively but that's still the same as Utd paid for Pogba and Lukaku in recent windows. I guess Ronaldo is just that marketable that he's worth it, even for a couple of years.
  15. Being beaten by low shots from distances was certainly a trait of Kelvin, how much influence he has on our 'keeper training I don't know. Personally I'd hope he was working on a move to another club.
  16. Heck of a hit and on it's own you wouldn't really have too many complaints. Problem is it's far from an isolated incident and he did have a chance of saving it had he reacted a bit quicker. 2 long range shots conceded in 45 minutes isn't exactly an upturn in form.
  17. So we're just not bothered with defenders second half? - - - - - - - - Forster - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ????? Valery - - - Reed - - Clasie - - Romeu - - - McQueen - - - - - - JWP - - Sims - - Hesketh - - - - - - - - Gabbi - - - Gallagher
  18. No, we probably have much more credible proof which can't be released to the public in order to protect our intelligence sources. Perhaps you'd prefer a 2 page spread in The Sun about Andrei Brehvdiyek, our secret mole in the Kremlin.
  19. Players will very quickly learn to cut down on all the holding and shirt pulling in the box, so after a brief period of more penalties I think it will all settle down again. Overall I think it's been a big positive from this World Cup. Not perfect but certainly a lot of poor decisions have been overturned.
  20. I particularly like Pickford's technique of running forward 10 yards and punching the ball as it leaves the taker's boot, as he did with the 5th penalty. Still, if the officials allow it then fair play to him.
  21. Ill informed opinion based on nothing but gut instinct and cliches but... I’d take the brick sh*t house Viking, with a face which looks like it’s been heading breeze blocks back over the halfway line, every time they come into the box. Nothing about this player screams ‘grabbing a game by the b*llocks’ to me and Gibson just reminds me of Stephens under Puel. Over rated because he’s an English academy prospect and flattered by a team with little interest in attacking.
  22. It’s almost like a default setting for any football article, like a signature on a forum. Instead of ‘sent from my Samsung XGEDNDJ294JFJ4400’ it says, ‘West Ham and Everton are also interested.’
  23. I imagine Pellè will be taking the p*ss a bit privately but I doubt it will be anything beyond that. Pellè was only there a couple of years, I’m sure he’s still a fan but I doubt he’s quite that partisan.
  24. I quite enjoyed Feeder's Echo Park.
  25. I would also keep Carrillo ahead of Long but that really isn’t a positive reflection of either.
