The double is on and we're looking at a fairly meaningless second half of the League season. Let's go for it!
-
My team would be; Niemi Cedric - Svensson - Virgil - Bridge Oakley - Romeu - Marsden Rodriguez - Beattie - Tadic Subs; Forster, Yoshi, Bertrand, Davis, Anders, Tessem, Ormerod I've only used players who were available (or are likely to be) for both finals, so left out Pahars and Austin.

Always rated him, was amazed so many saw him as a liability for so long. Just needed regular football.

Club won't be replacing Fonte, gardos to get his chance

Incorrect. Powell was dreadful. -
What and absolute muppet. Oh well.

We had the second best defence in the group stage, after Shalke, and we didn't progress. After the first group game, only Virgil managed to score in 5 games. I think I know where the problem lies.
-
Assuming they would have to pay something like £6m in summer, it's basically an extra £9m to get him now, that's assuming he is brilliant for Stoke and meets the criteria to trigger all the additional clauses. It looks a bit steep but it sort of makes sense I guess.

Speak for yourself, I've been saying all season Yoshi is as good as Fonte right now. Several others seem to agree.
-
We let in 4 goals in 6 games. Defending was never the problem.
-
If the penny dropped before long, he would slice it into row Z.
-
Fonte does not have 3 years at this level. John Terry is 36 and barely gets on the pitch, he was one of the best centre halves in the league on his day.

Agree, the league table never l.... oh.
-
Just tell him to defend the opposition goal at all costs.

We had some bloke called Hooiveldog who was banging them in a few seasons ago. Wonder if he's still available.
-
From what I've seen and heard in the media, I'd say he came back from the Euros expecting a juicy new contract and was told due to his age and his already generous deal, he wouldn't be getting one. Now he has realised he isn't in fact bigger than Saints as no top clubs have come in for him. As such he is probably leaving out of spite and embarrassment, having burnt a lot of bridges.

Last I heard Van Gobbel was on the run from Dutch police. No idea how that panned out.
-
Loyalty suggests he could have taken a better offer elsewhere but chose not to. That isn't the case. He hasn't been loyal, he's just been here ages. A bit like Lundekvam really.
-
I find this astonishing.
-
Not quite cornered the market though, has he.
-
Just go back to playing Sandstorm before games please.

I don't have a problem with us selling any of the players who've left. Berahino and Fonte have shown the credibility of keeping a player who doesn't want to be here. If we're getting North of £30m for players, that's fine by me. What annoys me is the substandard replacements we've brought in. Clasie, Martina, Long, Redmond, Juanmi, Cedric, Bertrand, Gardos and Romeu are the the kind of bargain bin players Lowe would have gone for. Whilst Bertrand has turned out good and Romeu is much improved, the rest just seem like cheap options to me. Then there's the enigma of JWP, in his 5th season of distinctly forgettable performances and still getting in the team.
-
There's a difference between complacency and knowing we are nowhere near as dreadful as the 4 teams at the bottom. 13th is indicative of home good we are thisnseason, not the last 4 results taken in isolation.
-
Loyalty implies rejecting better offers, of which Jose has had none. Until now, when he promptly throws his toys out the pram, same as anyone else and demands a transfer.
