  1. I agree, I can see Stoke winning but shipping 3 goals is most unlike us. If it weren't for a couple of howlers, destined for a Danny Dyer, Christmas stocking blooper DVD, we wouldn't have let in 3 at Palace. I think maybe 2-1 to them. They take a 2-0 after a sluggish first hour from Saints, then we get a late goal back from a corner.
  2. If he is, he has taken trolling to an all new level of pseudo-ironic self mockery. TBH I'm not really sure who I admire the most. alpine and Dalek, who despite being incredulously dull and repetitive still somehow get a rise out of posters who have been here long enough to know better. Or Charlie/Glasgow/Gunnery/Heisenberg/Dusic/Ice2eskimos/9-3/Richmond/Robbie/lastman73 and his/her/their relentless trolling, even to the point of arguing with their own alter-egos.
  3. The most Arsenal thing ever to happen to Arsenal.
  4. Ben Arfa who is playing regular Champions League football with PSG, on pretty big wages Sturridge who: Is regularly injured at Liverpool Has a bit of an attitude and wouldn't try hard Has huge wage demands Is a very selfish player and has done f**k all of note since Suarez left They wouldn't let leave anyway Celebrates goals like a monumental helmet.
  5. Can't say I'm all that bothered about watching a friendly in 3 years, personally.
  6. I went to that, we basically battered them but only scored 1 of the 20 shots we had, whilst they scored something like 3 out of 4. Very frustrating but we were much the better team. Think it was a Friday night too.
  7. We've had plenty of performances as bad as Prague or BS. Everton at home last season was about as bad as it gets. We've lost at home to some gash like Cardiff and QPR too.
  8. So was that on Boxing Day?
  9. Can't speak for the rest of the forum but I've always thought he was a decent enough player. Probably a decent long term replacement for Davis.
  10. As dull as that was to watch in the first half, there were some positives. Clasie had one of his best games for us and we were generally untroubled at the back. I also felt J Rod looked decent, even if he did miss that sitter. He gets into positions Austin would be nowhere near and I'd be more tempted to keep him than Long, given a choice between the two. Boufal' goal - belting but as with Thursday we seemed to settle for the bare minimum and didn't really pursue a second goal. Disappointing to watch and risky.
  11. It's not the case. Glasgow is lying to gain attention.
  12. It's fairly obviously the case. We have the same number of attacking players as we've had the last couple of seasons. The problem is some of them just aren't good enough, namely Long and J Rod. If they, and Boufal, were playing consistently well we wouldn't be having this conversation. If you are expecting more than one striker in, you are likely to be disappointed.
  13. More likely Long. I half expected this sort of form from J Rod but as little as I rate Long, I expected a bit more than 0 goals in 1/3 of a season.
  14. Chelsea hosting West Brom in the early KO tomorrow. Methinks Saints will be the first home team not to score 3... or at all.
  15. My point was that playing your strongest 11 in the League and Europe is going to catch up with you eventually. Would I swap? Depends if they go down really. Anyway... how did we not score against Palace.
  16. Live table... 17th - You don't need to rotate your players in Europe 19th - Why can't we show some ambition and sign players like Payet.
  17. Why might we have won? Romeu was responsible for the only goal we conceded.
  18. But will it have 2 tiers?
  19. No idea why we'd accept that.
  20. Everton now 3-1 down at Watford having taken the lead.
  21. Sunderland are hardly going to sell him are they. Very little will happen in January. Probably J Rod out and one striker in, if we're lucky. That will be about it.
  22. I think Hoj has received less stick because 1 - He isn't perceived as Mané's replacement 2 - he came from Bayern and not Norwich and is seen as a more ambitious signing. 3 - unlike Redmond, he has been far from ever present in the team. 4 - he doesn't play so far forward and the expectation of him to provide goals is less. 5 - he didn't arrive as a known Premier League entity with an average to poor reputation. None the less, most people who've watched us regularly have noted his poor form of late.
  23. Both games against Arsenal Man City away Sparta home West Ham away Swansea home Everton home Inter... eventually All decent performances
  24. If we bet them 6-0, I for one still won't forget that garbage last night. Would just prove to me how ridiculous playing for a 0-0 really was.
  25. Supposing Shane Long had managed 4 goals, against Watford, Sunderland, Leicester and Hapoel for example. Not an extraordinary stretch of the imagination. We'd currently be 6th and still in Europa. I think that's the problem. We would have planned on a few more goals from Long and, to a lesser extent maybe, Boufal and Rodriguez. It's not that we're a striker light, it's just that too many that we have aren't performing. I wouldn't be upset to se JR and Long both leave, if we got someone in who was physical and knew where the net was.
