They are basic but they will generally get you where you need to go on time. However this summer may be different. They have already had to cancel a fair number of flights due to a lack of pilots, who are leaving in their hundreds. They are attempting to plug the gap by wet leasing aircraft from Air Charters in Ireland and some Slovakian company called Air Explore (at hilarious expense to Ryanair I might add). I will always avoid them on principle if I can. Stick with Easyjet or Norwegian for a decent low cost service (free wifi on the latter).

Players will only leave if we show no ambition, sell our best players and make no attempt to replace them. If Shaw and Lallana move to title contenders for £50m, that wont be seen as a lack of ambition, that's just what happens in football. If we use that £50m to buy another 4 Lovrens, Wanyamas and J Rods, the other players will stay. More to the point, I can't see anyone meeting the asking price for any of our other players. Someone might take a punt on Morgan but if all our players were better than those at Man City and Chelsea we'd have won the League.

No they wont. Players leave clubs, it happens. The entire Spurs squad didn't race for the exit when Bale was sold and it wont happen here either. What's important is how we reinvest the money if and when players are sold. If we get £50m for Lallana and Shaw and spend it on 4 or 5 decent players, the rest will stay. They are on decent money here and wont be getting big offers from elsewhere. Morgan is the only other player I can see being snapped up by a big club.

Hey, not bad Swap Liverpool and Man Utd, move Palace up about 9 places and that's not a long way off the table now. It's a shame we didn't all put money on Saints finishing 8th. We would probably have enough money to buy Pompey, demolish FP and build an affordable housing complex.

I don't think we will start with 3 academy players like that, especially not leaving Shaw out when he is fighting for a WC place. I'd say if anything we will see Gallagher start and possibly a sub appearance for Reed. Putting out 3 youngsters and having them get well beaten by Swansea isn't going to help their careers. This will be a tough game even for our strongest XI
-
I'd stick with the same team, even if Morgan is fit. Lets see if this Cork and VW partnership has got what it takes.

That game seems to be the Southampton version of Hillsborough to some Saints fans. Every time we play Everton it's "we owe them one for 84, Heath, Highbury etc." We don't owe them anything, we've beaten them about 10 times since that semi. If giving them one doesn't actually make things better, there's no point saying we owe them one.

Chelsea and Arsenal away are the only games we've conceded more than once with Wanyama on the pitch. Let's hope he can put injuries behind him and be consistent player next season.

I can't hope for anything other than failure at QPR. Aside from Redknapp and Austin, the ridiculous fees they've been chucking at average players is what's ruining football. Brighton and Reading seem to get pretty cocky whenever they're near us in the league so I'm not so sure about them. I think I've just about forgiven Derby for 2007 so I'll go with them. Also remember going there when we got promoted and they packed the place out with 30,000 in the Championship. Hopefully they would make a better fist of the Premier League without that pr*ck Davies.

That's not a statement of intent, that's a statement of idiocy. If we try and sign Theo, AOC or Januzaj people will laugh at us. I don't know by what criteria you define the new board as soft. The window hasn't even opened yet.

I would if I were you, some people are never going to figure it out. alpine on the other hand knows everything his posts is nonsense but he has a compulsive need for attention, which he gets from strangers on the internet. It's sad really, his life must be quite tragic if he is doing this for fun.

Post exercise recovery foods/drinks.
Lighthouse replied to View From The Top's topic in General Sports
Normally for me it's a protein shake immediately after the exercise. Then either a steak and a load of veg or turkey breast with some peppers, mushroom and whole wheat pasta about an hour later. I try and drink milk too but not before eating as it ruins my appetite. -
We will have experience, that's my point. We don't need everyone to be experienced, just look at Rooney in Euro 2004 or Owen at France 98.
-
Like taking a hopeless penalty against Italy in Kiev a couple of years ago? Shaw is a Premier League footballer. He has played at Old Trafford and Anfield and come away with 4 points. I doubt he would sh*t himself if called upon against the likes of Uruguay and Italy.
-
I don't get the media mentality of wanting experience for the World Cup squad. The experience of what? Losing, under-performing and generally being useless? I could buy that argument if we were talking about taking a team of Luke Shaws but we aren't. Baines, Johnson, Cahill, Gerrard, Rooney, Hart, Carrick, Milner, Welbeck etc. have been playing for England for years and will all likely be on that plane. One teenager isn't going to kill us (although I have a suspicion the 'experience' rule wont apply to Raheem Sterling).

Table if you discount goals scored by Northerners?

His team is currently 10th, having finished 13th last year, he hasn't really moved any mountains. Saints and Newcastle have progressed further in the last year.

MNF Team of the Season - Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher
Lighthouse replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I'd agree 100% with Red Nev on this. Sterling has been brilliant since the new year but Lallana has done it all season. Baines edges Shaw IMO. -
So instead of being 8th, we would be a point behind 7th. Amazing how drastically our form has changed isn't it. I'm liking how we spent nothing, whilst Man Utd spent £37m and we have the same number of points.
-
The problem is they are all highly rated players at Prem clubs with no need at all to sell. In order to get them we would have to offer a silly transfer fee and wages, well beyond what they are actually worth.
-
With threads popping up about various players recently, who would you like to see us go for in summer. Marshall for me is an obvious candidate. If Cardiff go down, would they consider a swap with Kelvin plus cash maybe. From other teams battling the drop, I'd maybe look at Snodgrass, Adam Johnson and Borini (if Liverpool don't want). Only if we could get them at a decent price, I don't think any of them are amazing. I've been saying Dnipro winger Konoplyanka for about 3 transfer windows, so I'll quickly mention him here again. Speaking of which, is the Astori saga going to rumble on or is that dead now Cortese has gone? Lukaku would seem another obvious choice but we would face stiff competition. If Everton can match Chelsea's asking price they would surely be favourites. People will talk about Ings but he looks likely to be coming up with Burnley anyway and it would take a silly offer to prize him away. Other suggestions.
-
I haven't written him off. I just haven't seen anything special that shouts out 'sign him' either.
-
I find this post odd, given your favourite joke is saying, "he is young and therefore guaranteed to improve" whenever someone talks about young players. Other than a brief impression of Saganowski in the Championship, his scoring record has been pretty barren.
-
The difference being that players like Linekar, Van Nistelrooy and Andy Cole could do it regularly, whereas Wickham has had a small bump of form lasting 4 days. The 3 month dry spell before that would suggest he isn't that good at getting into the right space at the right time.

2 of those goals against Chelsea and City were tap ins I'd expect a League 2 striker to score.
