More to the point he was often chucked into games which weren't going our way and needed to change things. In many of the 20 minute appearances in which he failed to impress, the rest of the team were crap for the full 90.

1. All that Spuds stuff has been ANNOUNCED in less than 24 hours. Negotiations could have been going on privately for days or even weeks. 2. Transfers are like bits of string. Just because Spurs have a 10cm piece of string, doesn't mean all pieces of string are 10 cm. We don't. We just haven't been endlessly badgering Fulhams journalist on Twitter about who Fulham are signing.

I don't think we've seen anything close to his best last season. I'd be inclined to loan him out to an NpC club where he can get regular football, then make a judgement next season on what to do with him. If he goes on loan and plays a blinder, he could be pretty useful next year should we get relegated.

No thread yet? The last game finished over an hour ago FFS! I'm quite looking forward to this actually. I trust in Adkins to have learned a lot of lessons from the Wigan game and I hope we will get a more organised performance at least, even if the result probably wont be much better. As for the team... Davis Clyne Hooiveld *Surely, surely we will have signed a centre half before the window closes Fox... or.... Davis Morgan Lallana Mayuka Lambert Lee Subs: Gazza, Fonte, JWP, Puncheon, Sharp, Rodriguez, Ramirez (dare to believe people!)

Emmanuel Mayuka - Officially Signed on OS - Work Permit Confirmed

More of a wide forward in our system. If he is playing out wide instead of Guly or Rod that's fine by me. Lambert, Rod, Sharp, Lee, Mayuka, Puncheon, Guly, Lallana, Ramirez? That's a lot of attacking tallent right there. Welcome aboard Yukka! -
I'd agree with that. Jordan Robertson orphaned a couple of children changing his ipod, so why people think drink driving is no big deal is beyond me.

Those cyclists are a filthy bunch.

We wont have properly made it until at least 2 of our players have been caught kn*bbing Danielle Lloyd. My money is on Jos and Steve, they seem a pair of lads.

I talk to the (fairly small) group of people I liked at school on Facebook if I want to. I'm not really bothere about seeing the rest if I'm honnest, although I probably would go to a reunion out of idle curiosity. See if any hotties have turned into fat *****rs and vice versa.

I remember being repeated told that anyone who can't see what Jermaine Wright brings to a team was clueless and knew nothing about football. I think I must be a bit thick because 6 years later I'm still none the wiser.

And before Guly and Puncheon we had those useless black players Paul Telfer, Mikel Nilsson and Calum Davenport. You're right, it's weird how all the players being criticised at the moment are black. Fonte, Fox, Rodriguez and Kelvin. Still, none of those players would have taken any abuse what so ever if they'd come through our accademy. Players like Lloyd James, Simon Gillett and Ollie Lancashire were universally popular on here, just because they came through our youth system.

Guly's problem against Wigan was the same as Rodriguez in that he wasn't really suited to the role. To play out wide you really need some pace or skill to take on a man and get to the byline. He just doesn't have that. He is a neat passer, he knows how to finish and is fairly good in the air but he never once looked like stretching Wigan's defence. He was always cutting inside into a crowd on players. He was good enough at keeping the ball, he just never did anything useful with it. P.S. The fact that a lot of people don't rate Guly doesn't make them haters. It's a valid enough opinion and if a large number of people share that opinion there may well be something in it. I thought Darren Powell was sh*te. That doesn't make me a hater, Darren Powell was sh*te.

Mods are no good, we need some nuns to get this place in order.

If you think about the entirity of time for a moment... You are dead for a near infinite amount of time before you are born. Then you are alive for the tiniest, shortest flash of time possible, then you go back to beign dead again. So why with such a ridiculously short lifespan would anyone bother spending any of it not ignoring alpine and his predictable, nonesensical attention-seeking bullsh*t. Just ignore him, it is remarkably easy if you give it a go. Let's get back to talking about probably the biggest Saints signing of our generation.
-
I thought he was our new wicket keeper?
-
Chelsea are apparently willing to pay something similar for Shaw who is yet to make a senior appearances, other than a couple of sub appearances in the cup. Walcott played 13 senior games before Arsenal paid £12m for him. I guess if you've got clubs are willing to take a gamble, regardless of experience.

Did anyone watch A Touch of Cloth on Sky 1 tonight, I thought it was hilarious. If you're into your Airplane and Naked Gun style puns, one liners and subtle visual gags you will probably like it. I think Episode 2 is on tomorrow.

Centre Back, an option that hasn't been considered.
Lighthouse replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
He could be used as cover if we had 4 centre halves and 3 of them got injured. However I don't think anything less than 2 new signings would be sensible. I don't count Seaborne, he is completely unproven and could turn out to be another Davenport. Your thinking is a little bit Burley IMHO. -
Gazza Frazer - Fonte - Seaborne - Shaw Chaplow - JWP - Lallana De Ridder - Rodriguez - Puncheon

Our whole game was just slow and predictable. Lallana's shot which got tipped onto the bar was about as close as we got. Lambert and Guly both had a good effort on target but they were from too far out and will very rarely beat a Premier League keeper. Rodriguez wasn't the only player playing in an awkward position. None of the three central midfielders took a hold of the game and dictated play. That's supposed to be the point of having three in the middle, you run the midfield, but we didn't. Lambert had three Wigan defenders around him most of the time and no Saints players within 20 yards. You need proper wide players for this formation to work too. People who can run at the full backs, stretch the play and make space in the middle for Lambert and the three central midfielders. Neither Guly nor Rod fit the bill at all. One paced, predictable and never tried to get to the line. I'd go with Lallana and De Ridder out wide based on our current selection. De Ridder has his faults but he would at least run at them and stretch the opposition a bit. Tell me I'm wrong and SDR is crap if you want but doing what we did today isn't going to get us anywhere. Having said that I'm still upbeat. We've got the talent in the squad, a good manager and a chairman with ambition and money to back it up. We will come good in the end. Up the Saints!!!!

They're supposed to be playing Southend, I'm guessing someone just got mixed up and stuck the wrong team on the fixtures list. No idea how it made it's way on to our OS though.
-
No thanks. He's 60 years old and even the skates don't want him.
-
Can we just call him Kayak? Much easier.

So we've got Tadanari Lee from Hiroshima and now we're after this bloke from Nagasaki. Any other nuclear Saints out there? Edit: Lets get this fellar in http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/smalko/profil/spieler_58137.html
