  1. I've got Monkou & Killer on my football Card Southampton wall xi, with Chris Nicholl on the bench.
  2. I'd say on the surface of it Perraud is a uplift on a current Bertrand, as it allows us to have someone with legs on the left to provide a threat/balance on that side.
  3. Always thought Bednarek is a decent reader of the game, so not surprised he's got good interception stats.
  4. Training sessions will help him learn how we play, which he’ll have had very few of. each to their own on tella, personally I think his raw pace on the break against a team that will be forced to come out will be very dangerous.
  5. I think tella could cause them problems so i’ll be happy if we start Armstrong on the bench. Doesn’t make sense to rush him in whilst he’s still learning how we play and getting to know teammates etc.
  6. Seems we might be getting the Bolton baresi to join our Cornish Maldini. Not sure about him, not writing him off completely as really hasn’t played enough to have a full judgement. He was a somewhat feel good story of showing up Klopp and Showing him he should have played the cb he didn’t rate, whilst he farted about with cm’s there. He seemed committed/good in the air, very limited with the ball. Not sure about his pace but didn’t look speedy. Maybe good organizer? Still to me you could go to any warnock/McCarthy team and get someone who’ll go after headers. Unsure at moment what makes him worth the money quoted other than Liverpool branding. Doesn’t seem to offer the really needed ability to play dm as far as I can see either. So i’d Be very worried if he was the final move.
  7. I still think bednarek is a good defender, maybe not the greatest passer of the ball but I expect him to bounce back. as to vestergaard. Think Leicester are getting a decent player, he’s no Johnny Evans in terms a steal of a signing but he’s a threat aerially and has a decent pass. Though if it’s him and Bertrand lining up together i’d Expect teams to be trying to exploit that side with pace.
  8. See three out of eight Football365 writers are predicting us for relegation in their predictions. Don't see it myself & hoping we can show them up with a decent full season this time round. Here we go: Football365's season predictions for 2021/22
  9. If that's the case i hope its a CB that can play DM, otherwise we'll be in trouble if Oriel gets another injury.
  10. I don't really see this desperate need for an old head/veteran. Having some experience sure, but with a 25 & a 27 year old alongside a 22 yr old i'd consider that experienced enough. I'm disappointed Vestergaard is leaving as i liked him, but for whatever reason he wouldn't sign an extension so we had to sell whilst he had some value.
  11. I thought it was pretty telling that Ralph was talking about when yannik leaves not if he leaves.
  12. The striker left because the manager helped his career and enabled him to get what he wanted, a larger salary than saints could offer. Not sure I see us not wanting to sign an ageing left back to a long term contract as a fault.
  13. The club and Ralph clearly have faith in bednarek, hence why he is a virtual everpresent and was given a new contract. Equally salisu was bought with view to being first choice.
  14. Personally not sure about Phillips. Don’t see what he offers barring a Liverpool branding over a bog standard championship CB.
  15. It would have been nice to get a little but given his contract situation, getting that amount should at least help us replace him, hopefully with someone who can cover Romeu. We weren’t going to stumble into another ings situation and were perhaps lucky that fofana got crocked to actually stimulate a bid at all.
  16. Yeah I just don’t see. There may be a ludicrous fee at the right time we might accept. Don’t think the desirory figures mentioned are anywhere near that and the timing on the eve of season just makes it illogical to consider.
  17. Slightly odd decision imo(as Blackburn seem a decent club that have helped Armstrong boost his profile). Maybe he fancies running down his contract and moving somewhere else on a free(maybe even abroad)
  18. Still prefer Mccarthy , though expect Fraser will probably get the nod to start with
  19. But we won a shed load of games before that playing the formation. So is it not more likely the injuries/compressed schedule were behind that not the unsuitability of the players to the formation. We've brought in cover at fullback. We're told that Livramento can play there. While that & the notion of perhaps someone being brought into u23 setup might not be perfect it is considerably better than last year.
  20. Yeah i was thinking is that a scar? Still concerning if its so heavily strapped. Doesn't make much sense to rush him back for everton imo.
  21. Not sure I agree. We signed salisu to replace our 4th choice cb with view to him becoming into a starter. If club thinks he’s ready to start, we would be in the market for competition with Stephens for backup.
  22. I doubt Armstrong will start, more likely an impact sub given he won’t had huge amount of time to adjust to our approach.
  23. I think i’d prefer Mid who can also play cb. I hope I get another Steve Davis moment and get one of my favourite N.I players in McNair to saints, though my guess the club will look at someone a bit younger.
  24. I do really hope we can get someone in who can cover dm. Djenepo being talked up as a left back is a slight concern, though it is interesting to hear idea of b team lb possibly being brought in. Not sure if Ralph meant to confirm that vestergaard will leave (though I fully expect him to given he hasn’t signed a contract)
  25. Great to get replacement sorted. Hopefully there’s some cash left to strengthen squad elsewhere.
