Chelsea 1-1 (p.4-3) Saints - Match Thread
Baird of the land replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
Curious to see what shape we set up in. Wonder if we might go 5 at the back. Might suit the likes of Valery/Lyanco if he's thinking of rotating them in. -
-
On current evidence Livramento is our best right back.
-
See he's gone for Surgery & will miss Chelsea game.
-
Being unbeaten against those below us may not inspire full confidence but it shouldn't inspire panic either. The next couple of league games will probably give a truer reflection of where we stand.
-
Annoyingly liverpool have given up attacking
-
Any chance of 9?
-
Think there’s a whole heap of mid table teams that could get dragged into it imo. Also Newcastle could still very well go down despite their billions. Saints have played 5 of the current top 8, so if anything we’ve had a tougher run than some others.
-
Away at Chelsea again where he'll have to spend most of his time defending.
-
It frustrates me that the only chance Tella's been given is extremely tough away game to Chelsea. I thought he did ok but the nature of the game meant he didn't have that many opportunities to showcase his talent going forward.
-
I was just disappointed Adam Armstrong got so little time on the pitch with us drawing.
-
Curious what's the racist element of the Palace Banner police are investigating.
-
I'm still hoping we'll get 10 points(6 more needed from next 3) from this run, which would be a very good return.

I’d assume we would want to give Lyanco more game time, given we are an injury away from needing to use him in the league. -

Curious to see the scale of the changes Ralph makes for this. -
That's nonsense, it was a beautiful first time strike. Not many keepers would save that.
-
Thought Djenepo was ok last week. Not sure why he didn't play. Think he would have shut down their first goal as he's better defensively than Elyounessi and would have closed down lowton. Walcott's the odd one. How he manages to leapfrog everyone to either come on or start, despite doing very little this season so far. That shank of his today was awful and that was one of the few moments he was actually in the game.
-
In a number of games this season he has made good subs at the right time.
-
Five points clear is well clear considering we've had a tougher run than most.
-
Don't think we are going down. Would have loved the extra 2 points but after a tough start we are still well outside the relegation zone.
-
Frustrating. Very much 2 points dropped. Second goal felt like the centre backs weaknesses shown up, aerially Salisu was done and then pace wise Bednarek caught cold. Didn't seem to have much clue later on in the game, summed up by three minutes of keep ball only for Armstrong to gift burnley the ball during injury time Felt the subs could have come earlier, not sure why A.Armstrong has dropped so far down the pecking order to only get 5 minutes.
-
The goal we conceded was poor. No pressure from Elyounessi and Livramento a bit asleep. Didn't think the equaliser was going to come what with our atrocious finishing(walcott/Redmond) and bad luck (livramento). Cornet doesn't seem to be a very burnley player, in that he does no defending. Definitely didn't expect a goal from a corner but nice to see a well worked set piece. Think i'd take Walcott off & get one of the armstrongs on.
-
Thought if anyone was going to come in for djenepo it would be one of the armstrongs. Walcott is obviously very impressive in training, just hope he can start showing it in games.
-
Hope this disorganized mess of a villa turn up when we play them.

Yeah can’t think anyone wants another lockdown. Plan B isn’t a lockdown, it’s just the sort of measures that appear to be keeping cases much lower elsewhere. Some of it like masks is actually part of the current recommended guidance but is being blatantly ignored in practice.
