Very disappointed with the incident as I want to see Osvaldo and our squad succeed. Can understand why fans want him gone from the club, however I feel that what is more likely to happen is that once the dust settles, as long as Dani appologises to both Fonte and the rest of his team mates he will be integrated back into the squad, after all, we keep hearing from the club that we are all part of the Southampton family and Dani is part of that. I feel that if we just dump him without at least trying to help him sort out his issues and for him to succeed then the whole togetherness and family aspect of our club is a complete farce. You stand by family members and help them through their issues and try to put them on the right track, you don't just dump them for a mistake, a moment of hot headedness in the heat of the moment. The key here though is how Dani reacts to the suspension and how he aproaches his team mates. If he is not bothered and has an attitude about it, he will be gone sooner rather than later. I suspect, well hope really, that he will learn from this episode, apologise to everyone and knuckle down. The one thing I know for sure is that if he pulls on the shirt again for Saints and is involved, he will get the same support from me as everyone else in the squad.

It's amazing that this time last week, we were pondering the complete meltdown of our club and now, 7 days later we've had a match where we really should've got 3 points after playing so well (worth pointing out that 1 point at Sunderland is not to be sneezed at), our manager has stated his commitment to the club and now we've had an open letter from our acting CEO placing more emphasis on continuing to stabilize the club and improve our position further. For me, our owners have done everything correctly and have said all the right things at exactly the right time. Focused on assuring the manager and staff first, speaking to the players and finally communicating with the fans. I don't want big statements of spending lots and lots of money, that sets your stall up straight away and pushes everyone's prices up. Within 7 days we've gone from a club in turmoil to a club that now seems stable again, happy and more open than it has ever been. Quite a turnaround in a very short time! Long may this continue.

Buy or stick with the PS3, some great games out there now for very small amounts. I got the Mass Effect trilogy and Dead Space 3 for £22 on PSN. Dead space 2 set me back £5 from Cex 2nd hand. The PS3 is where it's at currently. A much better machine that has all the entertainment applications and gubbins you can shake a stick at! ;-)

Excellent 1st half performance, shame about conceding a goal as we really didn't deserve that at all. Fully expect us to comfortably see this one out, but as this is Saints, you just never know. Very enjoyable game to watch though

Damn!

What a superb team performance. Never seen a Saints side play like this before. Exceptional!

Nothings gonna stop us now - Starship Run to the hills - Iron Maiden One way ticket to hell and back - The Darkness Here comes the sun - George Harrison I'll stop now!

Ahhh, nostalgia time again. I remember all of those jumps as well. Amstrad CPC464 to an Amiga 500 to the PS1 then PS2 and now PS3. All of those jumps fuelled by seeing the next piece of kit in action at a friends house and having to have one myself. Nothing so far about the PS4 or Xbox1 has made me want to have one, but then I've not seen one running at a friends house yet. Think I'm going to have to become an unsocialable b*gger over the next year, just in case.

Got to agree with this statement. I got my PS3 in 2011 and it's the best bit of kit I've ever had. This Christmas I got 10 new games, including Skyrym and GTA V. After downloading the Mass Effect trilogy and Dead Space 3 over PSN network for £25, there is no way I'm going to need to upgrade to a PS4 this year, possibly even next if I really get on with both Skyrym and GTA V.

Very disappointing 2nd half indeed. Thought we looked 2nd best in everything today. Gaston kept giving the ball away, but not the only culprit. Chelsea looked very comfortable for the whole game, except for a 10 minute spell in the 1st half, we just did not threaten them at all.

Much improved display over the Spurs match. Good team performance, Lallana was a class above. Good finishes for the goals. Overall, very happy Boxing day.

Post Match Reaction: Newcastle United 1-1 SAINTS
CylonKing replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Isn't Niemi a goal keeping coach these days? Get him back and paired up with Gazza. Bring out the icy cold steeliness that makes defenses stand up and take note of what they're being told. I think Gazza has the ability, just lacking the authority and conviction. I want everyone in our squad to perform for this team and suceed! -

Yeah, I know, but why follow the crowd. ;-) I'm an optimist by nature and I think he has the ability, it is just the experience and authority he needs, like all young keepers. I think with Boruc and Kelvin in the squad he will mature a lot faster than some. Summed it up near the end when he came and collected a ball from above a Newcastle player despite knowing he was likely to get hurt - showing the right attitude for me. -

Terrible first half. Newcastle were much the better side despite having little possession. Adam and Morgan on in the 2nd and Saints were much, much better. Brilliant attempt by Davis which hit the post before the goal from Rodriguez. Thought apart from the mistake from Jos for the Newcastle goal, our defence looked pretty good. Gazza still showing that he as his nervy moments but is still young and his actual shot stopping is excellent. All the game time he is getting can only help him. I think Gazza is going to be a great keeper in the future. Just needs to be a bit more authoritative, which will come. Got to agree, Steven Davis for MOM. Had a storming game, was everywhere. Good tackling and break up play. An un-sung hero in the Saints team. -
Ostlund for Clyne Hurlock for Big Vic Barry Venison for anyone else in our current line-up. Serious you mean....O.K. The 2 Pauls, Williams and Telfer. Oh alright... Niemi for Boruc. Not that Boruc is bad, just Niemi is THE best keeper we've ever had in my opinion Pahars for JRod. Again, no disrespect to Jay, but Pahars would tear open most teams we've played this year Has to be Le Tiss for JWP. Bally got it spot on, you build the team around him and he will do wonders for you. The best player the Premiership has ever seen I reckon. Would also think about, and only think mind, about swapping our current left side for Bridgey and CMFG. My goodness, this does just highlight how good our current first 11 really are.

I will admit that the life span is slightly off (though that is what was quoted from the film), but is much longer in the wild than in captivity. This from Wiki, everyone's favourite source: Females breed until age 40, meaning on average they raise five offspring. The lifespans of wild females average 50 years, with a maximum of 80–90 years.[75] Males sexually mature at the age of 15, but do not typically reproduce until age 21. Wild males live around 29 years on average, with a maximum of 50–60 years.[75] One male, known as Old Tom, was reportedly spotted every winter between the 1840s and 1930 off New South Wales, Australia. This would have made him up to 90 years old. The separation that was highlighted in the film was due to the Killer Whale becoming disruptive in shows and training, which Seaworld believed to be due to the calf. The footage of the Killer Whale not swimming around and essentially 'screaming' (using long range calls to search for it's offspring) does not sound like a parent that has rejected it's baby.
-
Also worth pointing out that SeaWorld were asked to be involved and put forward all of the points raised in post #2. They could've mentioned all the good they do, but they refused to speak to the film makers.

I rented this out a couple of weeks ago after Empire gave it a rave review. Have to say that anyone thinking of going to a park that has captive Whales and Dolphins should really watch this before going. It is a very distressing film and I'm not talking about the employee deaths either. These are obviously highly intelligent and emotive creatures that are basically in prison and they get extremely fristrated being in captivity. The separating of mother and calves is deeply upsetting when you see the impact this has on both of the creatures, these animals normally live to be up to 100 (only 25-30 in captivity) and live in complex family units that stick together through thick and thin. I'm sure the film makers had an agenda when they put this together, much like every Michael Moore film, but this does not detract from what is an exceptional film that is both informative about Killer Whales in general and the impact being in captivity has on them. I would also recommend The Cove, a similar film about Dolphin capture in Japan. This is also a deeply shocking film about humans treatment of animals.

Watched Blackfish on Blu-ray last night. Thoroughly absorbing and compelling film about the capativity of Killer Whales in water parks like Seaworld. Extremely distressing but anyone thinking of going to places where killer whales and dolphins are kept should really watch this first.

Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 4-1 Hull City
CylonKing replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Am I in another dimension or something? Saints 3rd in the Premier League after 11 games? Not even the most positive of supporters could have predicted this honestly. I only got to see the final 20 minutes via the stream posted in the match thread (Thanks to whoever that was) and I do not remember seeing such a fluid and technically gifted Saints team. The one touch passing in possession was stunning and the collective defending from the front when Hull had the ball was brilliant to see. I don't get to St Marys much these days due to cost but am planning on seeing the Stoke match in February and absolutely cannot wait to be in Southampton again and at St Marys. Many fans of other clubs hope for their team to rise up the ranks and climb as we have. For Saints to do it and in such a short space of time is truly astounding and I'm enjoying every blinkin' second of it! -
Wow! and Wow again. Speechless! Great news for the players for the hard work and getting the recognition but also to the club and everyone involved with the progression of this great clubs of ours. Well Done!

Saw Turisas at Nottingham Rock City a few weeks ago - class as ever. Got a load of gigs coming up in the next couple of months - Hardcore Superstar and Buckcherry in Coventry, Michael Monroe at the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham, In Extremo (Medieval German Metal....yes!) at the Islington O2 and Poizon Christmas Bash, again at the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham. 2013 has been a great year for gigs!
-
Current albums that we're listening to are Turisas - Turisas2013 and Michael Monroe - Horns and Halos

I suspect if KD does play, he might have another 'Leeds Away' game....well, I hope he does!

Firefly is not about the stories or plot at all. It is completely the character interaction, the snappy dialogue and the relationships that develop in many interesting ways. Everytime we re-watch it it is like coming back to a family that you've really missed. Since watching that show, everything else that we see the Firefly cast in is immediately improved, e.g. Castle, Sarah Conner Chronicles, The 4400, as you miss them so much from Firefly. I would even recommend Dollhouse, another Joss Wheadon show, though it takes some time to get into.
