Article about stadium development plans: https://pompeynewsnow.wordpress.com/2015/10/19/fratton-park-stick-or-twist/ A couple of classic comments: If Fratton Park cannot be Redeveloped to Capacity of at least 40k,I think I think a new Stadium should be built.I remember crowds of 40k.This club has always been undersold, and has a huge catchment area.Don’t forget the record crowd is over 53k. We could easily achieve 35k+

http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/southampton/news/40855 Portsmouth residents are up in arms after it has been revealed that all mail sent from the PO Postcode will now be stamped with a Southampton postmark. City leaders in Portsmouth have expressed their disappointment that all mail sent from the PO postcode will now have a Southampton postmark after the closure of the Slindon Street processing centre in Portsmouth. The local paper The News has broken the story as Councillors and residents alike are frothing at the mouth. Speaking to the News Leader of Portsmouth City Council Councillor Donna Jones said: "This is the first I have heard of it." "I’m disappointed. We’re a city and it’s important that we recognise our city status, particularly as tourists will come to the city and send postcards to friends and loved ones." "Portsmouth deserves and should have its own postmark." "We are a city and it’s important that we recognise our city status particularly as tourists will come to the city and send postcards to friends and loved ones " "I'm going to talk to the Royal Mail about this" There is more, but you can click the link if you want

As with earlier in this thread, I can't believe people are going to right Claise off after 30min when he has been out with injuries. He has barely played in the premier league and already he is Elia Mk II. This place is unbearable after a draw. Fanbase needs to get a grip, if we had won this game we would have been 5th, as it is we are doing pretty nicely given our start. We got a draw against one of the form sides of the division and 3 points at chelsea... Most fans would bite your hand off for 4points from those two games... But instead we are here laying into players because we can't understand that sometimes the whole team just have an off day or that the opposition were worth the point.
-
And there you have it ladies and gentlemen of saintsweb... It took 30minutes of premier league football for a player who has been out for months and half of pre season to be deemed not good enough. The forum has spoken. I do however agree that romeu should have come on as we needed to tighten up. The ref was a 12th man for them today as well. Utter disgrace in terms of bias.
-
Either would have been fine. Ranieri is a class manager.
-
Ever consider that its good of them to give you a refund and a letter may or may not be in the post?
-
With the note worthy exception that he stuck with a club going out of business in the 3rd tier of english football and set to start on -10points rather than jump up 3 divisions (and a similar hike in annual wage and career earnings)... No, we don't owe the man any loyalty at all. Lets not even mention Leed's away or a crucial penalty save vs Brighton.

James Ward-Prowse for England? ...say that again ...
Saint86 replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
Why does he have to become a "leading prem player" - you show your bias with that comment alone frankly. JWP will be a good prem player for most of his career bar major injury... He is 20years old and a very solid option for us at it is, with 100 appearances and having captained England at every level he's played at. He has very good technical and dead ball abilities, covers a tremendous amount of ground during games and has been making improvements over his physical game as well as being the best dead ball player in our team and one of the better ones in the prem. No one said he needs to be a "leading player", but frankly if you are using players like Sanchez or Aguero as a yardstick to beat him with then you are very clearly biased against the lad and using any argument you can to put him down... he must be doing something right mind, if you can only criticize him for not becoming a leading player... -
lol. Funny that Arsenal fans took one look at him in the 2-1 cup game (one of his first matches for us) and said he was class and really dangerous. A lot of numpties like you on here that write players off far to early. JWP is another one that people will look like utter mugs over. 20 years old, 100 apps for a premier league team and captained his country at every level... but useless pile of steaming horse dung according to the world class scouts and managers on here.

http://www.supersport.com/football/article.aspx?Id=3227594 interesting article and comments, sorry if already posted.

He clearly hates saints. What a sucker lol. Embarrassing himself with that article as most fans look at saints and can't argue with what RK said, even if it is very cheesy

“Super computer” predicts final Premier League standings
Saint86 replied to Singapore Saint's topic in The Saints
Sorry but that is clearly bullcrap.... they must no less about football than they do modelling to have Newcastle above 18th. You should always sense check your calculations, otherwise it is just plane embarrasing when mistakes like that get published. Interesting link though, thanks for sharing -
I would argue that Bertrand needs as much game time as possible to get himself fully match fit. And England internationals aren't the most strenuous of occasions... in this instance his call up is very good for saints?

The following our home grown players now playing for the big 4 from just our club. Oxlade - Arsenal Walcott - Arsenal Chambers - Arsenal Clyne - Liverpool Lallana - Liverpool Ings - Liverpool Morgan - United Shaw - United Not really that bad a spread of home grown talen amongst the big clubs, and hardly surprising that given we have sold that much of the golden generation we have to wait a couple of seasons for the next big bunch to come to fruition. Arsenal have a lot of British players, as do United and Liverpool, Chelsea have a lot coming through but its either too much fun to knock them or just other fan's ignorance in writing them off. They still play Terry and Cahil at CB most games regardless. As for our "smattering" We can still field Long, Bertrand, Targett, JWP, Reed, Hesketh, McQueen, Debyao, Seager, Gallagher, stephens, turnbull etc etc (e.g. the next generation) if we wished, not to mention having Forster injured. I don't think your comment is particularity fair on a lot of the top clubs nor on saints. You simply can't sell in the numbers we have and expect the next generation to be ready at the click of the fingers.... they are there, the club has committed to them and their development, but they just need a few years to develop. Then you have clubs like Everton and Spurs who are laden with British talents in recent years. Compared to the past 10 years the growth and numbers of English talents has certainly turned the corner and looks promising.

Hahaha Brilliant! You'll get my backing, unfortunately I can't imagine our fanbase singing Oasis tunes.
-
Goig good so far. lol at all the morons that never wanted to see JWP and Davis in the same side. They know so much more than Koeman, its a realy wonder that they aren't earning millions every year as a football manager
-
Fair review bud, sadly when we flog almost and entire first team in 12months there aren't many songs left to sing.

Post-Match Reaction: MK Dons 0-6 SAINTS - Capital One Cup - Round 3
Saint86 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Think that is rather derogatory for not much reason Batman. They are a club that are struggling, but still have a far bigger fanbase that us and fans that are more passionate. Mock them for their league form and their attitude from the fans that they are still managed by keagan and should be challenging for the top 4.... but not for losing in the cup... Plenty of teams do that, including us. -
You (and a lot of others) are moaning about his decision to play Yoshi at right back, but ignore that for 25min united were played off the pitch and we could have been 2 or 3 up. (I was under the impression that Cedric has a slight injury anyway?) Anyway, for whatever reason the game changed yesterday. Whether that came from the players or the manager or LVG changing something I don't know. But Koeman set us up very well at the start so attacking his decision to play Yoshi is flawed. He made one awful mistake (just as Fonte did last year) and other than that he kept Depay very quiet which was his job. We lost the midfield, Romeu offered absolutely nothing and was rightly subbed for Davis. The only comments I would have is that the back line looked very shakey and were making very silly back passes all game. I said this in the first half and that eventually United will read it and just take a gamble in it... and sure enough we conceded. The other comment I have, is that the defence were too deep and left the midfield isolated. Seem to be a huge gap between the defenders and midfield attack which united just swarmed into. When coupled with the fact that we gave them 2 goals through complete lack of pressing it is hardly surprising that we are all ****ed off given the start. Lets not forget, Their first goal was offside and prior to this it was a penalty of JWP. We completely outplayed them on chances created and would have scored 4 without De Gea making cracking save after cracking save. It is noticeable that Koeman is down at present as well, the board let him down this summer and his recent injury can not have helped. Plus going out of europe and wasting all of last years hard work is a massive psychological burden on the team. All in all, we have had a bit of a mare so far. All we can do now is aim for mid table and go on a cup run. Who knows, we may completely turn it around and push for 7th again. But at the moment, we miss Clyne, we miss toby, we miss morgan and we miss Forster. (I think Target is getting better and better and is a very decent stand in) but ofc, we miss Bertrand as well. As for the people slagging off Prowse after yesterdays game, it was a cracking cross for the goal, he put in a good shift and was certainly not one of the players who let themselves down. I thought young Matty did very well (again) and its a shame he picked up that knock. Mane was superb again (our best player) and pelle was good.

Can we all just accept that Les Reed and co have dropped a clanger this summer and move on.

Nigel Adkins Interview (Saints YouTube channel, Monday)
Saint86 replied to jawillwill's topic in The Saints
We may not have been as professional and at such a high level when Nigel was here. But the heart and soul of the club was very much diminished when he went and has not been recovered. I'd rather potter along with him as manager and have relegation scraps every year than come 8th every other season and get knocked out of europe playing long ball. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed poch and think Koeman is a very good manager for us. But Nigel was getting on top of it when he went, and that man lived and breathed the "football club" as much as any fan. Watching it now brings both a smile to my face and reminds me how gutted he was when he was sacked. Bittersweet interview to say the least! -
Your logic is flawed mate, JWP plays more for saints now than he did at the start. Not only that, but the quality of the saints first 11 has improved immeasurably since that first game. By your own argument, you are saying that JWP hasn't improved... whilst also saying indirectly that he has improved just by still being in a team in which players have improved....
