FFP, new contracts and the momey in the prem now...
Saint86 replied to Saint86's topic in The Saints
I did, than you dig dig -
The money seems to have gone crazy lately in the prem.... Vardy signing for 80k per week, Payet getting £125k per week *****il he is 34!). One of those two clubs has already breached FFP, the other will surely breach it now and how are they able to add that much to their wage bills in one chunk? I thought FFP prevents clubs from increasing their wage bill too much in one season?!?! How do we feel as saints fans? I am actually pleased with our wage structure and not having any players on more than 50k (According to FM 2016 granted)... I don't think the money can last forever and we seem to be signing players that are young, try hard and are in it for more than just the money? But can we compete? Everton are about to announce a multi million pound takeover my Americans, West Ham are splashing silly money, as our teams like Newcastle, stoke and Leicester... Where do saints sit within this as I can never see us offering 125k within the next couple of years! And I am pleased about that as well. It is just a total detachment from the modern fan and wrong frankly. Rather than paying that kinda wage they could be dropping ticket prices to £10 for example...

If we have the same number of england under 17 players as Brentford, Ipswich (less than), Hull, West Brom (less than) etc etc etc then something is worrying wrong with the youth setup at that level. That is based on first glance but I expected saints to have a better representation than that. Makes you wonder what is coming through behind calum's lot.

Big vic has been banned for 5 matches (six weeks)... Personally I think this is very over the top although I guess it is the rules. Its never a red card and should be appealed by the club but Wanyama should be warned (by the club) for giving the ref that decision to make in the first place. Updates in the dailFail here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3437845/Victor-Wanyama-ruled-action-six-weeks-red-card.html

Personally, I think they should use the money to expand the stadiums for one year, then drop the prices to £20 a ticket and watch em fill up. Half the market of these games is the fans and the atmosphere... so lets see it...

Charlie Austin fits that rather nicely...

unless he was from senegal it makes sod all difference to me and I will take it with a pinch of salt. Too many regional dialects and pronunciations to count in africa.

city are awful, but the league is going to Leicester or Tottenham for me.

Aware fully that this is just the idealist me speaking but.... Wenger has said that the money will be used on player wages/transfers as the tv deal will push up prices. However that is total ball-arks.... The only league getting this deal is the premier league. Therefore if all clubs turn around and agree to cut their ticket prices by the same percentage then all teams take the same hit to "spending power" (using some of the tv money to look after their fans). This in turn means that their is less money being used to push up prices for wages and transfers. Anything less than this being agree and really all football fans should unite and boycott the games indefinitely as we really are being taken for a ride. Even with the above measure and a cut of say 25% for all teams the new tv deal would still represent and increase in financial muscle for the prem vs any other competitive league (china doesn't count)...

I dont think anyone was calling for his head, just frustrated with the lack of youth players in the team. Thankfully and first and foremost, he has got us winning again, but he has also addressed our issues with Pelle and started playing target and JWP more. Its almost like he reads this forum...

I know I should stop championing random saints players. But Fraser is the best saints keeper we have had during my years of watching... First games in 94...
-
Kelvin vs Leeds was amazing and got us up... Forster is cracking keeper. As has been said countless times by countless people.... But that kevin performance goes down in the annuls of the clubs history. No doubt whatsoever that it was pivotal in getting us where we are now.

Well its simple really. We are being run sustainably and were sticking to rules that are for all intensive purposes dead dodo's anyway. Whether we change that or not we'll see. I'd add that our model is still solid and no one has a better buy this January other than Austin. But we badly need to improve the youth teams i think.

That goal is better than any scored by the current saints team. Including Martina's

That is all anyone wants to see Fry, wishing something related to Saints does well congrats

You seriously need to learn to make a structure argument... Because you're jut embarrassing yourself with that pile of utter cack... Seager is going to be a very tidy striker of championship level or higher (early days yet)... but for the vast majority of the forum you seem to delight in him not being given a chance or being deemed good enough as yet... Most decent and proper saints fans will look forward to him getting his chance of first team football at crewe and will keep an eye out for his performances... But coming on here with BS like "Obviously he wasn't and so it proved" just cements your place as one of the forum bell ends. ROFL.

Pelle to Juventus before Feb surely?

People need to seriously stop counting osvaldo as a record signing, we paid £9m for him. This £15m myth is embarrassing.

Is losing to Saints really the last straw for Louis van Gaal ?

United will not recover and it is Naive to think they will tbh. Look at Liverpool and there is very little difference between the two. This isn't spain or Germany where once a team drops off the worse they can do is expect to come 2nd or 3rd. We are blessed with a competitive league and as soon as someone falls of the pace there is another team ready and waiting. City are no established with Chelsea and that pairing ended Liverpool's flirtations with the top 4. United have now fallen, and this has allowed another team (likely tottenham) to squeeze in. Plus Leicester are going to get top 4 this year. United are now saddled with huge wages, massive ego's and ridiculous expectations, something which all their top 4 rivals do not have to deal with. They are done. It is Tottenham's time now I think. -
To sex Bomb, Char-Lie, Austin... He shoots with such aplomb! He is Southampton's goal machine!! Clap Clap Clap etc etc Char-lie Austin...... etc

Well i,'m glad I'm not alone on this. I think his presence on the pitch is invaluable. I just remembered people slagging him off on here last season and wondered if that was a general view of him? Or whether a half season of stek had readjusted peoples views? I think the bloke is a man mountain of quality!

Well said Hemel... You got a bite with the very next post as well. Good on you for flying the flag for the rest of us.

I think it is no confidence that since Forster is back the team have been playing better. With him the team feel much more assured defensively and they are performing better as a result. Somehow the defence is less panicked and in control, and this has settled the midfield down and given us a calm base from which to build. Add to this the movement and energy that Long gives us up front and the fact that the team now have the confidence and time to really use him and things are looking good. Charlie was a good buy and gives us a great option in the form of a natural goalscorer. The tweak in the formation with the 3 CB and 2 wing backs is also helping of course, but again, I feel like this all stems from knowing we have a rock solid quality keeper. That confidence and assuredness at the back has stabilised the whole team and allowed them to really start playing. We look now like the team we were last season and I feel like we should fear no team again. It is a fantastic feeling as I thought that team had gone with Morgan and Toby. Incredible what difference a quality keep has made to the teams performances. Is this just me feeling this way? Or do other fans agree that having Forster back has really stabilised the team, made us look far calmer at the back and taken the pressure of the forward players some what?

WTF is this bull****. Luke shaw is on his way back from injury... jesus.
