Southampton academy and youth progression under Koeman
Saint86 replied to vindaloo's topic in The Saints
That article is a disgrace and must be written by a poopey fan. No youth players of a better calibre than Yoshida? We have JWP and Target playing most matches. Ridiculous article written by someone who has not idea about the academy plans. -
The thread isn't saints specific... But for saints its VVD or Shane Long. But. Player of the season will not be a saints player. I think it has to be Vardy, Mahrez, Payet and maybe VVD deserves a nomination?

Really terrible that you gave this troll 2 bites. Someone lock this thread. 1/10

Neither were fouls. Joke reffing again. And every time we get forward we get soft fouls against us. That said, we have to be better than this, we have been utter garbage. Pelle standard ****e (but no worse than anyone else), no creating in midfield. Why the hell are we playing Mane when he clearly cant be arsed. The brightest we looked was when tadic was on. With Austin and Long both injured I would go so far as to say that we fecked for the rest of the season with regards to a european dream. (Depending on length of injury)... Was that Boruc's first save at 87min... seriously. Players should refund the away ticket and travel for this level of performance. The only reason this hasn't been worse is that Bournemouth have been pretty ****e as well, and that is saying something.

Southampton vs Chelsea Post Match Throw away
Saint86 replied to Secret Site Agent's topic in The Saints
lol, attend the stadium mate, most fans feel the same, at least around me And they have done for most of the season. Playing with Pelle is playing with 10men, and its apparent that a lot of fans and possibly even the team feel the same. Even the radio solent phone in follows the exact same vibe. His time is done. Thank you for your keyboard warrior sarcasm also, as always the rest -
Southampton vs Chelsea Post Match Throw away
Saint86 replied to Secret Site Agent's topic in The Saints
Waited a bit to review this game. In summary, I think the ref robbed us: His fouls given and booking bias was appalling. Linesman flagged for a foul to us before the goal. It was either a freekick or a penalty for cahil's tackle/foul on Austin which would have made it 2-0. Also irked by how cack that goal was. Costa got away with assault off the ball. In addition, media bias has irritated me as very little of the above was actually covered. And, whilst I like RoKo's refusal to blame referees, I actually think it needs to be done in exceptional circumstances other they take you for a ride. And lately we have been ridden all the way to the local love shack. However. When all is said and done, we let chelsea's dirty play rile us up and ruin our game plan. Our players lost focus and if we want to move to the next level they will have to be more professional and rise above these things. Yes chelsea are dirty are basically dirty, cheating, diving scum (!) but we still let them win that game. Also, Pelle should never play for saints again. He gave the ball away time and time again, inviting pressure and failed to hold the ball up on all but one attempt. Playing with him really is like playing with 10men, especially when he replaces Long who is half his size and does a better job as a target man. Pelle has to go, and at this point I would accept a free transfer just to get him of the wage bill.. -
I think it is clear that there are posters on here with vested interests who know the people involved. Ultimately who cares, they got banned and maybe harsh or justified... I didn't see the facts to judge. As for the comments regarding clubs involved... you can see in some of the videos that there are guys in yellow and black shirts carrying batons attacking fans in red and white shirts before promptly running off when the cops intervene.... that is pretty clear who was involved and who were the antagonists. Just goes to show how people warp the facts either deliberately or through confusion in times like these... it is there in clear video evidence. Although the same video also shows a saints fan going after one of the Vitesse fans and hurling a chair at him whilst trying to punch him. If they had banning orders before, and have had these reinstated on the back of cctv footage, then I don't really have a lot of sympathy for those particular people. Sorry.

I have only seen skates on the train to London for the FA cup semi final (?) coming. Do not think they exist outside of that. In comparison. More saints fans than West Ham fan's down the bristol pubs for the saints vs west ham game recently.

yes, gutted for Ryan, looked to be a quality player in the making and one of the best in his age group nationally all the way through.. Real shame. Hope he gets better soon!
-
Only positive sides, saints are experts at mending knee injuries now.

Love the muppets attacking long earlier on this thread. Easily one of our best players. and consistently so.

Pretty ****e so far it has to be said. I don't want to knock pelle because he has done a good job for us... but he should not be in our starting 11 (certainly not on this form)... He is pedestrian, slows down all our play and gives the ball away time and time again... Replace him with Mane or Tadic second half and we'll create so many chances against what is a very below average swansea side.

If it is a scam where people make money from getting others involved and then cashing out... then the mirror are deeply involved http://www.mirror.co.uk/features/football-index-traders-backing-rooney-6662558

FFP, new contracts and the momey in the prem now...
Saint86 replied to Saint86's topic in The Saints
I did, than you dig dig -
The money seems to have gone crazy lately in the prem.... Vardy signing for 80k per week, Payet getting £125k per week *****il he is 34!). One of those two clubs has already breached FFP, the other will surely breach it now and how are they able to add that much to their wage bills in one chunk? I thought FFP prevents clubs from increasing their wage bill too much in one season?!?! How do we feel as saints fans? I am actually pleased with our wage structure and not having any players on more than 50k (According to FM 2016 granted)... I don't think the money can last forever and we seem to be signing players that are young, try hard and are in it for more than just the money? But can we compete? Everton are about to announce a multi million pound takeover my Americans, West Ham are splashing silly money, as our teams like Newcastle, stoke and Leicester... Where do saints sit within this as I can never see us offering 125k within the next couple of years! And I am pleased about that as well. It is just a total detachment from the modern fan and wrong frankly. Rather than paying that kinda wage they could be dropping ticket prices to £10 for example...

If we have the same number of england under 17 players as Brentford, Ipswich (less than), Hull, West Brom (less than) etc etc etc then something is worrying wrong with the youth setup at that level. That is based on first glance but I expected saints to have a better representation than that. Makes you wonder what is coming through behind calum's lot.

Big vic has been banned for 5 matches (six weeks)... Personally I think this is very over the top although I guess it is the rules. Its never a red card and should be appealed by the club but Wanyama should be warned (by the club) for giving the ref that decision to make in the first place. Updates in the dailFail here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3437845/Victor-Wanyama-ruled-action-six-weeks-red-card.html

Personally, I think they should use the money to expand the stadiums for one year, then drop the prices to £20 a ticket and watch em fill up. Half the market of these games is the fans and the atmosphere... so lets see it...
-
Charlie Austin fits that rather nicely...

unless he was from senegal it makes sod all difference to me and I will take it with a pinch of salt. Too many regional dialects and pronunciations to count in africa.
-
city are awful, but the league is going to Leicester or Tottenham for me.
-
Aware fully that this is just the idealist me speaking but.... Wenger has said that the money will be used on player wages/transfers as the tv deal will push up prices. However that is total ball-arks.... The only league getting this deal is the premier league. Therefore if all clubs turn around and agree to cut their ticket prices by the same percentage then all teams take the same hit to "spending power" (using some of the tv money to look after their fans). This in turn means that their is less money being used to push up prices for wages and transfers. Anything less than this being agree and really all football fans should unite and boycott the games indefinitely as we really are being taken for a ride. Even with the above measure and a cut of say 25% for all teams the new tv deal would still represent and increase in financial muscle for the prem vs any other competitive league (china doesn't count)...

I dont think anyone was calling for his head, just frustrated with the lack of youth players in the team. Thankfully and first and foremost, he has got us winning again, but he has also addressed our issues with Pelle and started playing target and JWP more. Its almost like he reads this forum...

I know I should stop championing random saints players. But Fraser is the best saints keeper we have had during my years of watching... First games in 94...

Kelvin vs Leeds was amazing and got us up... Forster is cracking keeper. As has been said countless times by countless people.... But that kevin performance goes down in the annuls of the clubs history. No doubt whatsoever that it was pivotal in getting us where we are now.
