"Liverpool wanted me on transfer deadline day – but I decided to turn them down' Liverpool were in the market for a new centre-back in January 2021 but their interest in Duje Caleta-Car was rebuffed by the defender, who went on to join Southampton" 😮 https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfers-deadline-day-klopp-35840668

Eugh - that gave men an unfortunate mental image
-
Don't think this has been posted yet Jonathan Ikone winger said to be on the verge of signing for us https://sportwitness.co.uk/belief-winger-is-on-his-way-to-southampton-minor-fee-player-attracted-by-destination/
-
Also another former FC København player
-
Another Danish full back then
-
And Fraser, surely
-
We bought him for tiddly squat, I doubt there's any value in selling him
-
His ego must be soooo fragile
-
He would have gone to Nantes if it wasn't for "the antics of his entourage" putting them off - make of that what you will
-
Can't be arsed to check back through the thread and see if yesterday's quote from the Krasnador manager Musayev desperately insisting they will not stand in Spertsyan’s way if we up our offer have been posted: https://eflanalysis.com/transfers/southampton-target-could-play-for-psg-as-manager-rules-out-blocking-10-5m-move/

https://eflanalysis.com/news/southampton-sent-financial-warning-amid-tyler-dibling-exit-talks-with-sales-necessary-verdict/ "In 2023-24, which is the last full financial year for which the data has been published, Southampton’s wage bill was £80m. “That was a Championship season, albeit one they were in receipt of parachute payments, which meant their overall revenue was £85m. “They also had nearly £40m of other expenses, plus amortisation costs of £51m. So at the operating level, they were losing a lot of money. They swung back to a profit because of the huge profit on player sales they made." “2025-26 is a mirror image of that season, i.e. their first back in the Championship after relegation. “Now, we don’t have the accounts for 2024-25, so we don’t know what the wage bill is, but we can safely assume that costs are going to massively outstrip revenue once again. “Yes, they have parachute payments, but they will still be generating an operating loss, so sales are necessary both in terms of PSR and to fund the club’s day-to-day operations. “That’s the simple answer. You can’t have a Premier League wage bill and a Premier League squad in the Championship when your revenue, even with parachute payments, has been cut in half overnight.”

He was using "fire sale" in an idiomatic footballing sense I think
-
You're wrong, the correct usage is fewer. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/grammar/british-grammar/less-or-fewer From the link: "We usually use less with uncountable nouns. We use fewer with plural nouns."

fewer

He may well be the player to drop out when we move to a flat back four. Giving him a few games to get a feel for the intensity of the league makes sense to me given that, and I think his contribution has been valuable. Captain Jack and Harwood Belis haven't exactly covered themselves in glory either, and it's been nice to see someone replling balls into the box, albeit with the odd mistake.

It's been coming, we are the better team

And who posts so much crap that it got siphoned off into another thread so as not to pollute this one.

Wife got a headache?
-
What a bunch of fannies, Jesus. Let's at least give the club until the end of the transfer window and the manager a decent run of games before we start wetting the bed.
-
Or just the fact that actually he's pretty average
-
Seems strong and mobile with good close control and JWP free kick skills.
