  1. It's a tough one, and something I constantly find myself torn on. On the one hand, I don't really see why through the fluke of birth we should be able to stay in this little part of the planet where we have more opportunities than those not so lucky to be born into somewhere with equally good opportunities. It does seem nasty to say, no, you were not born here, only people born here can work here. I have no problem with anyone that wants to work hard and further there lives coming to the UK to do so. Why should they not? I would probably do the same thing if I was in their situation. There also seems to be some misconception amongst some (not everyone) that all foreign immigrants come to the UK and live a life of luxury. That is rarely the case. They often work and live in some pretty squalid conditions. But, I do too share concerns about things such as infrastructure. Housing, hospitals, doctors, schools, transport etc. These are genuine concerns, and there is a strong case that when immigration was very high earlier this century, these things were neglected - this of course causes problems. I have no problem with immigration, as long as plans are put into place to make sure we can accommodate immigrants. This is something we have not done well previously. My problem with UKIP is the way they frame the debate. It is nothing but fear mongering and scare tactics. Those election campaign posters were vile. Even if they were not racist, they certainly were nasty. UKIP served a purpose in raising the issues of immigration and EU. Yes, at the time they weren't being discussed. It simply isn't true that that is still the case. Stewart Lee's quote above feels pretty apt for me. They are nasty, you can blame the media all you want, but there members constantly show themselves as pretty nasty people, who for all their protestations are no better than those they claim to be a change from. They also are total one trick ponies. We want out of the EU, 95% of people of say they will vote for them have no idea what they stand for other than EU, and probably think they will stop immigration. If they got any where near power it would be an utter disaster. The EU is far from perfect, I'm certainly not its biggest fan. But I would be concerned about just pulling out as UKIP want. For the wailing that was thrown at the poster that listed some of the good things that have come about as a result of the EU, and the "oh it's as if we would be a destitute 3rd world country without the EU" if one listened to the Anti-EU & UKIP crowd, it is as if we are full to bursting and a 3rd world destitute country with it. The truth of course lies somewhere in the middle. No doubt it's time for me to put a hard hat on now. Edit: ps: Just becuase I agree with Stewart Lee, I'm not a leftie, just ask pap.
  2. I didn't say you specifically said that, but plenty of people have. It's nonsense. Also, are you saying that I can't say I dislike a decision made by the board? I accept it does look likely we will lose players this summer. I hate it, of course I do. I don't care how much money we get, we are not going to get players to replace Shaw or Lallana to the same level they are at. Hence we will be a worse team. Same as Man Utd when they got £80m for Ronaldo, Spurs when they sold Modric, Bale. Arsenal when they sold Fabregas, RVP etc. Selling your best players makes you a worse team.
  3. Where have I said that?
  4. Haha, I don't actually know if he was a skate or not. It is undeniable he was: A) A complete WUM. B) A complete idiot. C) Had some bizarrely inflated sense of what his opinion was worth, and how 'right' he was.
  5. Rubbish. I'm sick of seeing people say "that's a lot of money, take it". You 100% do not become a better team for selling your best players. Gareth Bale proves that.
  6. Did you ever read any of his posts?
  7. I just went and read that thread. Absolutely brilliant. Surprised it took so long, seeing as it was painfully obvious 95%+ of what he spouted was similarly stupid. Also, I wonder (and clearly Pap is better placed to pass judgement having met the bloke) if he actually was just that stupid. I started to think he actually believed his own crap, and was just too blindingly dumb to realise it. A few highlights include this 'pearler': http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?47905-Saints-master-plan&p=1822927#post1822927 Or recently, berating the clappers for their use of labels, whilst in the same post labelling half the board 'Happy' (apparently that is a pejorative term?), 'Deluded' and well, Clappers.
  8. So come on then Pap. Metallica prep time. What should I be listening to?
  9. Hang on, what? When did this happen? ps that's class bear
  10. Slightly off topic, but I feel it is kind of related. An interesting twist at least http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-27360884
  11. He does though. Hence, why he is.
  12. Was Nicolina a common nickname for Cortese? Didn't Puncheon call him that in his little twitter rant?
  13. Sorry chaps, been in Stockholm with work. Didn't want you to think I'm neglecting you all. Quite up for Metallica. Plenty there to keep me happy. Agree with The Cat, Royal Blood are bleeding brilliant live, saw them support Interpol recently and really enjoyed them.
  14. Surprised it lasted this long.
  15. I do get it, I really do. I have a few vinyls, and there's something intangibly wonderful about them - and due to my lack of turntable I've only listened to them a couple of times. And whilst they are superior to Mp3s in many ways, I'm a sucker for the ease. As I said above, I do have a tendency to get bored of stuff quickly, so being able to carry an entire music library in my pocket is very handy. Though, maybe that is also the cause?
  16. Hey CB, I was just reading this thread and noticed you hadn't mentioned on there that Cortese left yet, I was a little concerned at first but after seeing this I guess it was just a mistake. Keep up the good work, I keep forgetting he left. Your reminders are very useful
  17. Will the "why havn't we signed 18 players yet?!?! " thread be here on Tuesday?
  18. Think that's the thing, I never really bought Vinyl. Those ones in Leeds used to sell gig tickets to, so I was in there quite a bit and got to know some of the guys that worked in the shop, so would have a chat, listen to some new stuff and get recommendations. I worked about 30 seconds away from Berwick Street until we moved office last year. Popped in a couple of times, but it just wasn't the same. I am debating getting a turn table, I just fear it will kick off a proper habit, which will just be a black hole for cash (which I don't have) and space (which I have even less of!).
  19. The way they all cum ova ere and just take all are benefits that we pay for (with are benefits) is a scandal. Talking of scandals, you heard bout Pizza Express? Dey av bin sellin dat holla meat nd not tellin ppl. Well dey put it on d menu, but hu actually reeds dat?!?! LMAO!!! Its getin reediculus now tho. I went for a curry the other day and all the meat was halal too!! This is are country, they should live by are rules. If they don't like it go to to there etc...
  20. So, are we run for the fans or not now? sorry FF, I couldn't resist
  21. Cheers mate, I'll give them a look. Makes me miss hanging out in Crash Records & Jumbo Records back when I was living in Leeds. That said, I'm in London now and never go in to record stores.
