  1. You're right, but I also think, by having the money to buy a more competitive squad than last year, less young players will get the opportunity to come through. I'm sure they will still be used (like Targett at Arsenal) but reality is, we're less reliant on them now.
  2. Don't make parties about winning, Don't make **** about losing. We are Southampton, We love Ronald Koeman.
  3. I did laugh at this little exchange: Redslo Posted: It is not clear to me what part of my article qualifies as total bullocks--unless it is my difficulty in locating your recent financial reports. I was informed as to how I can purchase them on line and have done so. Aside from that, what did I get wrong? Is your team not improved in this past transfer window? Are the fans themselves actually at fault for the financial mismanagement of prior ownership? Would Portsmouth fans not have liked their club to have been bought by Markus Liebherr rather than the various people who did buy your club? Other than being a Southampton fan, what did I get wrong? Cressers Posted : Being born.
  4. Yeah, forget Pelle, I've definitely got a crush on Koeman
  5. Hey David - oh no, you misunderstand! We adore Koeman, and find his quotes completely charming. They kind of help make him become more iconic. I said in another thread, I love it when a reporter throws a difficult question at him, then he responds with a shrug and says "but that's football". His quirk of phrase and Dutch accent makes it more endearing. No different than when we used to discuss Nigel Adkin's quotes, although, to be honest, even though English isn't his first language, Koeman certainly sounds a lot smarter than Adkins. I have a Dutch housemate - we often repeat each other's quirky accent (her favourite of mine is "twitter" without the the "tt"s). Still, I feel in awe of Saintsweb that someone would pick me up for thinking I'm being unkind. This place is so civilised !
  6. That is just brilliant. I shall always think of Pelle now as The Corrector. Can we put it into a song?
  7. I've got a new one: "We have the KaRackter"
  8. Oh c'mon. He may mistakenly view the club as not big enough for his ambition, but he's not a bloomin psychopath. He was there most of his childhood - of course he's going to feel emotional at leaving. I'm annoyed at the way he handled it just as you are (and clearly the club were mighty hacked off too), but that doesn't make him the devil. And I can't help but want to see one of our Academy players doing well.
  9. It may have come across that way, but I doubt he meant it that way. You could see how emotional he felt about leaving the club at the end of the year awards bash speech.
  10. Hahah - can't believe he gave his wife's quote to The Independent. She sounds as amazing as him. MoPo is distinctively dull compared to Koeman. Can't wait for the Man U game! We're so lucky to have such an amazing club.
  11. I agree with this. I think he's being a bit daft with the phrasing of these quotes though. If he chucked a compliment about Saints into his quote it wouldn't sound so bad. I've seen other players do this well, and it reigns back what could be taken as a slight. Sounds like he's struggling with the pressure a bit, and throwing compliments at the fans to try and win them over. I'm not his psychoanalyst but he's likely experiencing is, having been at one club for massive chunk of his life, where he was completely at home and in his comfort zone, he's now somewhere new where he needs to start from scratch, and build his reputation again. It's not easy, and I can't help but hope it eventually works out for him even though the Saints curse thing is very amusing right now. Get your head down Adam, don't give up, and whenever you reference Southampton, make sure it's a compliment, not a belittling statement, otherwise you're making life unnecessarily difficult for yourself.
  12. Yes, really fascinating to hear the differences between his pressing and Pochettino's. Sounded like he's asking the team to be more selective on when to press, and when they do, be faster with it. Would love to now see a Gary Neville analysis on this!
  13. My favourite Koemanisms so far: When asked a difficult question, he shrugs: "But that's football" "Fantashtical" "Shoushampton" Any more?
  14. What a game - still buzzing this morning. Team looked a league above last season's - really classy, confident play. Targett - super confident. Mane looked on fire. Just a shame Pelle didn't score. Hodgson, please don't pick Clyne for England!! Nice to meet Bucks Saint too - really nice guy. Emirates is an amazing stadium to see such a beautiful team to play in!
  15. Ok, so who's meeting up before hand? Bucks Saint - not sure how I can get in touch with you as I don't think I can DM when I'm not registered, and I don't want to put my email on here!
  16. I missed Match of The Day last night - what was the conversation about Saints like? Was there an interview with Koeman? Anyone got a film clip?
  17. I'm on a roll! FWIW, I had a hunch Wanyama would score when he came on - he scored goals at Celtic. With more freedom, he will score more goals for us...
  18. Table as it stands...we're 2nd! Wanyama's lack of goal celebration odd? (Or not?)
  19. Yes, I loved how he was describing having a free mind. It reminded me of an musician improvising. He was an artist no doubt.
  20. Cool, does that mean people start blocking me and I get a bad girl reputation (like Turkish)?
  21. Home made mayo is the best and very easy to make... Egg yolks and mustard, + olive oil, lemon and white wine vinegar. None of the crap that's in supermarket mayo, and tastes amazing. Try it! http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/eggs-recipes/my-beautiful-mayo
  22. Block 25 row 3 ... Well I'll get to see goal celebrations even if I can't see much of the game...
  23. I sometimes watch Saints on Sky in the Junction. I'm always the only Saints supporter in there so cheer extra loud when we score. Snooty Fox, a bit further on from the Alwyne, is my local - great little pub. Good beer, good jukebox. But seeing as rarely get to hang out with fellow Saints supporters, I don't care how rough the pub is, I'll be in the Drayton!
  24. I hate the Alwyne - it always smells of toilets!
  25. Yes of course. My flatmates would love that on a Tuesday evening... But see you in the Drayton first ! Mouldy Coat - are you that dodgy guy that hangs out in the common in a trench coat?
