I love this quote from the article : Asked about the constant speculation linking Pochettino with Tottenham, Watson remarked: “I hadn’t given it too much thought to be honest."

Fair play to Adam Blackmore for giving him a heads up on it. Pochettino criticised the decision but hasn't turned it into a personal attack on linesman from what I've seen, so I'm hoping he's OK. But sod the result, it's just a result. I'm gutted for Jay. Fingers crossed for the guy.

If we had the points we've lost after being in winning positions... we'd be fourth.

Just reading Moneyball about the introduction of stats in baseball scouting. The numbers don't lie - take Lambert, Rodriguez, Lallana and you've got 3 form players that could so something.

And Wellbeck?!

Yes, I'm in London too and all other non Saints friends are as excited as I am at seeing him perform in the World Cup. Amazing to hear a Saints player talked about at that level with such anticipation. And of all World Cups to have timed it for ...Brazil! Can't understand people on here who say this season is now boring. They are insane....

Why stick up for him? I'm the Saints supporter. Be an idea if you miserable lot supported them too...

My boyfriend's penis is more miserable.

God you lot are so depressing. Seriously.

Rule one? Well, I'm not particularly into the nuns, but if I can cope with Barry, I can cope with anything. And Glasgow is way more girly than me.

Hey, don't diss women... I'm reading this thread and thinking what a bunch of wimps Southampton folk have become!

Ha, you beat me to it!

He was asked the question! What's he supposed to say? I'm not going to answer your question for fear of embarrassing our supporters who find a bit of ambition cringeworthy, Really nice article - well done Jay. Team sounds like it wants to stay together...

We're sure gonna get ribbed for this one! http://dailym.ai/1cPDnqs

I don't think nonsensical. They're rating based on relative and wider performance. Given half our squad were with us in league one, and half are teenagers, plus our quality of play and relative success this year (after having only been in the league 1.5 seasons) I think it's quite right neutrals are in awe. You're just being hyper critical because you want more!

Read Rebel's excellent post in the thread about our academy and bringing youth players in quicker: "Take left back at the moment - Shaw is obviously good enough to make the top class grade - but should he be playing week in week out at 17/18? No - not if you don't want him to pick up injuries and burn out before he hits his peak in mid 20s." It's a tough call, but I trust Pochettino to make sensible decisions about the kids, even though I'm dying to see them play every game!

Ho ho ho. Had too much of the sherry and cookies?!

Hey there. Agree with what. I felt similar when I was reading the article without looking into the detail on the stats she pulled out, so thanks for interrogating. But reality is, plenty of journos do write these criticisms without that same rigour you're showing. So just because they don't stand up to scrutiny, doesn't mean they wouldn't be said, or that journos wouldn't be searching for every opportunity to knock us down (if we were Tottenham or Arsenal etc). But basically (anyone notice how Pochettino's translator starts every sentence with this word?) we're in agreement.
