Interesting how the original poster starts by asking us to forget all NC's balls ups. At least he's good enough to appreciate they are mistakes. Lets just recap them: 1. Introducing a booking fee, making it a lot more expensive for fans on a budget 2. Discontinuing the payment scheme, making owning a season ticket more difficult for loyal fans 3. Introducing a £10 parking fee for people traveling with the travel club to support their team. 4. Banning long term loyal fans for criticising him. 5. Banning the local newspaper for not following his agenda on a tiny matter. 6. Banning all press photographers in the hope of making a few hundred quid extra. Not realising that if this was a workable business model clubs with a lot more clout would have done it years ago, and now has simply removed any chance of additional exposure in the national press. 7. All sorts of PR gaffs surrounding local footballing legends But lets put all that aside..... Oh hang on.... I forgot one.. 8. Sitting on his ass all summer and waiting until three games into the season, and a day before the transfer window closes, to sack the manager. A blinding summary from the original poster though. Truly blind.

Sums it up perfectly for me. We will probably get to the promised land soon, but will we recognise our club when we arrive? Southampton FC is a community club like so many from Sunderland to Swansea, and trying to run it like one of the big metropolitan franchise clubs (Chelsea etc) isn't going to work. Part of that local community, like it or not, is the Echo, the small businesses, local fans, and local heroes, all of whom have been given the cold shoulder way way or another by NC's juggernaut for success.

Because like most on here, i want the very best for Southampton FC. And to get that the people who run SFC and the decisions they make have to be held up to the closest scrutiny. And blindly saying "in NC we trust" is not good for enough. Some things NC has done have been good, not least turning up with ML in the first place, but an alarming amount of poor decisions have been made along the way, and as one who has the good ship Southampton close to his heart, i selflessly take it upon myself to expose and denounce his balls ups, in the greater interest of the club.

I agree that sounds far more credible. It would explain the unusual timing as well. ML keen to give AP a chance, NC relucantly going along with it etc etc. As usual, i doubt we'll ever know.

I've never been APs greatest fan, I think he's an OK manager with an OK record, so may be NC does have a spectacular new manager lined up. But if he has, how long will he get to do a job, six months ? I would rather have kept AP and lost NC.
