But we're not respecting our tradition, thats always been my point. Traditionally we wear red and white stripes. The red sash was our original kit (for one season i think, maybe two), NOT our traditional kit, which is Red and White stripes that everyone from Ron Davies to Terry Paine to Matt Le Tiss wore. The sash is simply a cheap marketing stunt, to rake in a few extra bob. It's nasty, it's white, and it's all about coining it in from a mugs.

Yep, there's never a shortage of suckers.
-
If you believe the OS sites PR then yes, it has been a marketing success, which is after all what it was about. As for tradition? By definition a failure.
-
Oh do please give us a your style tips. If you have any beyond wearing replica shirts?
-
re-read my posts on this thread; and then re-think your post. Buddy.
-
If there has been, what about them?

The common denominator there is websites, which will skew any poll. Having said that I'm sure a poll conducted properly would still see a majority in favour of it. Although much smaller is my guess. That doesn't make it right.
-
A good point well made. Which makes the OS's dig at the printed medias 6% poll as a bit pointless. The OS site is 80% bloody adverts anyway.
-
You're on very dodgy ground if you think that the views of people who subscribe to this forum are an accurate representation of a cross section of Saints fans.

I thought we had off loaded him to a Soton Sunday league side. Did the Red Lion back out of the deal?
-
Cheep then, as well as nasty
-
The result: Marketeers 1, Tradition 0, The sooner this sorry episode in our history is over, and we get back to wearing what all the greats who played for Saints wore, the better. Until then, come on you whites!
-
One huge advantage we have over Wednesday is we spent last season mostly winning, they spent last season mostly loosing. And as any good manager knows winning, and loosing for that matter, is a habit. We'll finnish above Wednesday. (if only we were playing in our traditional red and white stripes we would be invincible)
-
Of course if we were playing in our traditional kit of Red and White stripes we would easily make it over the 100 mark.
-
And the ten seasons of the eighties where variations on red and white stripes apart from the red with white shoulders of 85-86 i think was it? But now in our 125 year we throw out our traditional kit for something that is predominatly white and not one Saints legend ever wore. But I won't go on about it.
-
Oh great... a new head of marketing! Expect everything to be re-branded. Out with the nickname the 'Saints' and in with some focus group nickname. The kit has already changed from the kit we've worn for 120 of our 125 years. All reference to our past and history to be overhauled in favour of themes that would appeal to middle class businessmen from Surrey. I can barely contain my excitement.

I really couldn't give a monkees about Bournemouth. I've never considered them rivals more than any other lower league seaside club. It would be like hating beige, it's just not something that stirs the passions to that level.

97 points. You heard it here first.

Ok, but generally not a fan of his. I'm delighted to have ML's money, i just wish we didn't have to have NC with it. Alas i think the two go together.
-
What a peculiar thread! And I wasted time reading it all !!!!!
-
Another kit dreamed up in the marketing department. Hey-ho:shakey:
-
I would agree with you if it were a Wembley, but this is St Marys, home of Southampton FC, where MLT is a Legend. It's a sorry day when any football club feels unable to celebrate their footballing icons. Maybe NC is just another CEO who knows the price of everything but the value of nothing.
-
I except I lost the argument about the new gash, sorry slash, kit versus red and white stripes. Not for the first time I'm on the wrong side of popular opinion. However, I would like to point out to all those, including the OS, who keep calling the sash kit our traditional kit, that it isn't. It's our original kit. The red and white stripes is our traditional kit, and will remain so until we've played in the sash kit for 100 plus years. For those who doubt me look up in the OED with definition of both words. COYR (if we can still say that in a predominantly white kit)

But the few the OB managed to get shouldn't have to serve a day or two for all those the OB couldn't get, which appears the case. This is banana republic justice. You can tell the Tories are back at the helm

There is no justice in those sentences. If they had raped someone they would have got less. Absolutely ridiculous. Good luck to them, i hope they appeal
