2010 Forum match at SMS - Pre Match Build UP

This is a Saints forum; not a forum for over weight sad ****s living out their childhood fantasies. Take it elsewhere -
Thats what i like to see Pilsbury, reasoned argument abandoned in favour of direct speak. I couldn't agree more with your prognoses.

If You're Still Looking For a Scapegoat....

The little bit at the bottom suggests you could rival NineteenCanteen for the post of Village idiot. -
Until I meet a Lowe Luvie in person i'll refuse to believe they represent anything more than a tiny but vocal minority. Can they really exhist in cyberspace only? Aparently so. A certain amount of them can be ignored as skates on a wind up, others like 19C, or whatever his current name is, can safely be ignored as the village idiot.

Wat Tyler was no terrorist. He was a freedom fighter who was double crossed by the lying cheating monarchy of the time.
-
Neither will I. And when the dust settles on all this I hope most Saints fans appreciate what he has done.

Eastleigh should get in a bid. They stand as much chance as Portsmyth
-
I've just read the small print. The 15 perspective host cities are ones that have applied to the FA to be considered. Not the other way around. Portsmyth along with Milton Keynes and Hull have applied, Liverpool, Everton and Saints haven't. Yet.
-
The Portsmyth continues. When will those clowns wake up. They can't get a new ground built as it is, but the promise of a couple of World cup games has them thinking they are going to build a 42k stadium. LMFAO They can't fill Fratton Park as it is.

No need for a salary cap. Just limit first team squad sizes to 16 players. Less wages not restricted wages. Kills too birds with one stone. Clubs are financialy better off and the talent is spread around, making for a more level playing field.

Can anyone make an educated guess as to if the foreign investors mentioned in todays echo are the Canadian sports investors mentioned a few weeks ago?
-
No offence FF but if your source is one of the bidders, or from their 'side', well they would say that wouldn't they.
-
We don't have to wait until the club goes tits up before fan ownership. If we formed a company tomorrow and issued 5,000 shares at £1,000 each we could out bid Pinnacle, the city council (ie the good folk of the city) could own the stadium, and we future would be bright.
-
Pointless thread. If Saints go bust we start Southampton 1885 FC in the Wessex league. And no doubt the blue bit of Hampshire would start Portsmyth Skates FC in the event of bankrupcy. Supporting your local club is about community. Portsmouth is not my community.
-
You miss the point. It's about priorities. A Pinnacle consortium appears to have prioritised PR activity over fiscal or administrative activity. And thats what bothers and sets alarm bells ringing when any organisation does it.
-
I'm not saying its not a good thing MLT is involved once a takeover is complete. Far from it, i think he would be an ideal person to have around the club in any capacity. What i'm questioning is the motivation of a consortium in getting MLT on board before they have sorted the money out. It smacks of window dressing.
-
1. A maximum squad size of say 16 first team players, thus spreading the talent around more. 2. A certain number of players, say 4, to have been born within 40 miles of the club. 3. The FA to tell the 'big 4' if they want to go and set up a european league to **** off and do it. 4. Stop the 'reward for failure' 2nd, 3rd,4th Champions League places.
-
Well we know who Pinnacle are, and we know they have no money themselves. But you're right we know very little except that they seem to have wasted no time in getting MLT on side.
-
Pinnacles tapping up of MLT bothers me. If you were a consortium with all the money you needed you would be concentrating on getting the deal done, and worry about figure heads like MLT later. If you were sailing very close to the wind in terms of financing, and needed to try to convince potential consortium partners and/or placate disgruntled fans who have realised the new owners don't have a pot to **** in, you would want a footballing legend on your side. I hope I'm wrong, but Pinnacle, to me, don't sound too convincing.

You don't know what you're talking about Numbnuts. Any purchaser could buy the club with a state of the art stadium, which would cost about £40m to build now, for about £10m. Investment a few more millions and be back in the Premiership in a few years. Or buy PFC maybe, a club who can't sell out a cowshed of a ground, (why does the attendance figure always read the same yet some games you can see acres of empty seats?) with no chance or money to build anything better, and no chance of filling it even if you did, and dozens of ageing players on massive wages and long contracts. All for £40m ??? Clown.

I don't know what a VCR is, but I suggest you masturbate into someone else's sock for a perfect Sunday.

A variety of different masturbating scenarios with the odd binge on lardy cake in between

****, I'm bored after reading that.

All the above and more can be off set against very bad calls made about any number of crap signings Lowe encouraged, Delgado, Anothony Pulis, Morgan Schniderlin (£1m !!) to name but three. What about sacking Pearson for a Dutch unknown? What about not backing WGS with more funds? What about spending hundreds of thousands on SCW? But don't let that put you off, Hilter did some good things. Apparently he could knock out the occasion watercolour quite well.
